AESTHETIC
Aesthetic to me is (as cliche as it sounds) in the eye of the beholder. Which in another sense means it’s just what that one person finds beautiful or something that is visually pleasing.
ART & BEAUTY
Art is a form of expression of our emotions, thoughts, secrets and desires. It’s a way for us to express to an audience an internal concept or idea we may have. It’s a communication of personal ideas that word are just not able to express. So between the viewer and the artwork it becomes a very intimate experience that lets the viewer come into the world of the artist(s) It is pretty much a vessel that communicates our whatever we are trying to express.
Beauty is more than just a pretty face. It’s not about the prettiness. You can find plenty of pretty pictures at your local car dealership; but they might not be seen as being beautiful, and it's not that hard to find works of art that are beautiful but not necessarily pretty. Beauty is more of a measure of emotion and the effects it has on its audience. In the terms of art you can say that beauty is the measurement of successful communication between the audience and the artist work. Beautiful art is successful in communicating the artist most intense emotions, and the concepts, whether they be dark and creepy or pretty and cheery. But when the artist is putting the work out they nor the audience will know if the communication will be successful. It just up to that moment when the viewer comes in contact with the work where we will find that out.
With at that being said like art beauty can be very subjective and that’s where aesthetic comes back, because I might find something beautiful it might not be seen that way to someone else for example a favorite piece of mine is “Saturn devours sun” by Francisco de Goya. The imagery is very powerful and disturbing to some but the feeling it emotes really stuck to me and I find that really powerful. In in contrast an artist that almost everyone enjoys is Claude Monet and beautiful pastel landscapes and how it just pulls you in. For one more example i am going to use another favorite artist of mine her name is Naudline Pierre and with her works she uses the very sweet colors like Monet but sometimes the visuals might come off as disturbing like in Goya’s work. So with aesthetics it’s a lot about preference in with you think is “beautiful”. Because it’s not always going to be what someone might find typically pretty.
