Kaz as flowerboy.

I’m obsessed with the imagery of water as source of transformation for good and ill in Six of Crows, particularly in parallels between characters. Both Matthias and Nina are in some form rescued by a storm that destroys the ship they were on and realigns their relationships. For them water is fairly neutral, although Matthias several times repeats The water hears and understands, the ice does not forgive. Meanwhile both Kaz and Wylan almost die in the water. The harbour is the grey area where Ketterdam sends it’s dirty work to get done, the nameless poor to be burned and inconvenient rich boys to be assassinated and never seen again. But both Kaz and Wylan survive these experiences, irrevocably changed, and pull themselves from the water. Meanwhile in Inej’s crucible in hellgate, the rain saves her life by putting out the fire below and giving her a chance at a new life. It’s in the rain that Inej finds the path forward she wants to take, becoming the woman who hunts slave traders, becoming the storm above. For her water is an almost religious cleansing, a doorway into a new life.

I’m coming back from a long ass hiatus to tell you guys that every. Single. One. Of the Crows would be out there protesting and rioting in support of George Floyd, Tony Mcdade, Breonna Taylor and Regis Korchiniski-Paquet, and with all the other POC who have died at the hands of police...I can’t do much right now, I live away from the protests and i unfortunately can’t donate as of this moment. But if you can I am begging you to sign petitions, go to protests and protect yourself and others.

If you’re lgbt (which most six of crows fans are from what i can tell) especially if you’re WHITE. Don’t ignore these protests. Don’t start saying that these riots won’t get you anywhere. Remember, Marsha P Johnson was a black trans woman who jump started stonewall. A riot. That got you your rights.

okay so I work at a b&j scoop shop and this makes me very happy bc I always get customers (mostly karens with groupons) who complain about how expensive it is but it’s so worth it to support such a responsible company. (also the 3 free pint thing is just for factory/corporate employees bc I don’t get that lmao but we still get plenty of perks)
