Since the series focuses so closely on Will and Halt, canonically the two best rangers Araluen has to offer, I think it gets easy to assume every ranger’s skills are close to superhuman. But they’re not.

I for one am very curious as to what the bare minimum ranger looks like. Where are they. What are they doing. What do they fall for. I want there to be a shitty 90s sit com about that guy.

but Medusa feels somewhat watered down. I wanted her to visibly seethe when she saw Annabeth, to attack them with hatred, or at the very least i wanted her to do more than walk towards them menacingly

i get that they're trying to explore how medusa wasnt the monster she was made out to be but she's still a woman who suffered a punishment from the unjust the egocentric gods, one she didnt deserve in the slightest

and that makes a person do monstrous things.

at the very least, i think the message of "the monster you perceive people to be aren't always what they are" would be achieved better if her first impression wasnt their pseudo hero
