as a 1975 fan and a fan of matty for years, when the taylor stuff happened i thought some swifties were overacting and 'not understanding him' but then the ghetto gaggers stuff came out and ive never been able to look at him the same since. that alone contradicts really all that i thought abt him that he tries to get out in performance art in his anti-racist remarks etc.

I just had a lightning bolt moment listening to your Miss Americana episode when you were talking about Taylor and Joe. What if they had such a level of privacy (at least in the beginning) because they were so on/off that Taylor didn't WANT to go public because she feared the "taylor Swift is so unstable that she can't even keep a man for more then two minutes" headlines?

I will say them being so on/off kind of makes his absence in MA make more sense because maybe he really wasn't around for much of the filming minus the back stage after concert high moment and the holding hands car moment

I think there’s a strong possibility Matty and Taylor met before November 2014. His manager had comped VIP tickets to the Red Tour. They are a small indie label, The 1975 was the only artist at that time. They didn’t have industry connections. Matty was a co-writer on the unreleased Slut! Collab which was trademarked 2014, but would’ve been early 2014.

“ME and YOU together song” has long been thought to be about Taylor amongst fans cause it’s like grown up “YOU belong with ME” video. And more reasons I won’t go into cause it would be too long.

Also Matty’s from Cheshire like Harry. 😂 Matty wore the 1989 shirt at his show. Matty did easter eggs before Taylor started doing them.

we know exactly when they met we basically have it on camera. it was after 1989 got released. matty may have collabed on a version of slut last summer but that doesn't mean he collabed on whatever draft taylor had of it in 2014. it also may have been a song they did together in November right after they met or December of 2014 again after 1989 came out. me and you together song came out in 2020 and could very well be a reference back to taylor but seeing as it came out WELL after 1989 and wonderland came out... obviously taylor wasn't referencing that song when she wrote wonderland. wonderland is a huge reference back to alice in wonderland, not a winter wonderland.

it's all well and good to reconsider some songs of taylor's and see if they're about matty but certainly not songs that were written before she ever met him.

matty wore a 1989 shirt because he liked the album because it was good synth pop which is the type of music he makes and appreciates.

furthermore, since there is not a single stitch of a rumor about taylor and matty until November of 2014, even if they had been in touch before that it's ridiculous to say a song that says "people started talking and talking turned to screams" when literally NO ONE ever said a word about matty and taylor until after they met and started their flirtation in November of 2014 which I will say one last time is AFTER 1989, including wonderland, came out. that song would make zero sense for matty given the context.
