just thought about how the first hunger games book ends with "i am already loosing the boy with the bread". that's the last line of that book. that's the ending. a loss. the result of them winning the games is a loss. even the best possible outcome, the fairy tale ending that promises wealth and safety, is a tragedy. it's always a tragedy.

The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison is one of my favorite books of all time, and within it, one of my favorite scenes is Maia and Csethiro's first real interaction at Nurevis' party! so i drew it. their slow romance is so delicious.

im never getting over the fact that fitz only survives because burrich loves him. because burrich stays with him. fitz does not need to live. and even when he does live, nobody knows about it --- he is literally dead to the world. him surviving the way that he does changes nothing for the country, nothing for the war, has no political advantage at all. fitz living does not give burrich back the life he had. fitz living does not, even, make life easier for burrich. it makes it harder. but he does not want to live without fitz. burrich would rather gamble on an old wives tale than let fitz die. would rather see fitz changed than let fitz die. would rather live in hiding, on the edge of everything, than let fitz die. than live without fitz. than live without his son. guys. guys.

Am I the only one who, for some reason, can't not constantly think about the memorials Katniss references in the epilogue?

"The arenas have been completely destroyed, the memorials built."

Is there a memorial for all the children who were murdered in the hunger games? All 1,725 of them? Did someone manage to dig up the names of all the past tributes? Can Haymitch go to the capitol and run his fingers over the L in Louella's name? Can Katniss look at Rue's name, engraved in something permanent?

Is there a memorial for all the rebel soldiers who died while fighting the capitol? Does Finnick's name reside right next to Prim's on a big glossy slab of marble or granite?
