The photo that I chose is “Two Men in Fog” taken by Fred Herzog. I chose this photo because of the mysterious atmosphere. Though it is not the most colourful image in the gallery, it intrigued me because of it tells a story. The fog removes extra details and distractions, while also making the street seem endless. The street poles provide pattern and also contribute to this feeling of endlessness. The photo is balanced well, with the street on the left, sidewalk in the middle, and buildings on the right. The two men, wearing identical suits, are walking in opposite directions and give the photo a mysterious feeling. Are they just strangers, or do they know each other? What were they doing? The men are dark and contrast with the grey background and the white fog. The photo has a story: it feels like the opening scene of a movie. Overall, I love the mysterious mood the composition of the photo creates.
