I love buffy summers so so much. She’s so perfect and so incredibly complex and flawed.

She loves her sister more than anything in the world. She makes terrible puns. She wasn’t able to kill her soulless ex-boyfriend when she first had the chance. She blames herself for his murder of her father figure’s girlfriend. She wears bedazzled beanies while hunting demons. She always believes children when they tell her about the monsters under their beds.

She’s patrolled in a halterneck many times. She has a multitude of cross necklaces which she switches out depending on her outfit. Sometimes she fears she’s just a glorified killer. She was murdered when she was sixteen and died to save the world when she was twenty. When her mother died she waited until she was alone to do the dishes and let the running water cover the sound of her cries. She’s terrible at undercover.

She wears hoop earrings while fighting for her life. She was reduced to a catatonic state when she believed that she had failed to protect her sister. She’s isolated herself from anyone she believed cared about her more than once. She’s suffered from severe ptsd and depression. She critiques old kung fu movies from a fight choreography standpoint.

She is an expert in denial and suppression. She came back wrong - or at least she thought she did. She desperately tries to keep to a code of honour even when everything she believes about right and wrong is constantly shifting around her. She bears the weight of the world on her shoulders. She sleeps with a stuffed pig named Mr Gordo. She’s feared that her duty as the slayer would turn her to stone, that above all else she would lose her ability to love.

She loves more fiercely than anyone in the world.

The fact that angel s4 and buffy s7 were happening at the same time is so funny, like did Jasmine and The First Evil know about each other? Was there a week when all hostilities in Sunnydale stopped because everyone was transfixed by Jasmine? On a powerscaling level is Fallen Power vs Ancient Evil the big bad version of immovable object vs unstoppable force? Were they just looking at each other's work like

(also I think it's funny that the two worst buffyverse seasons have extremely powerful big bads who have similar but opposite problems: Jasmine doesn't show up till the final stretch of the season and while those last 5 episodes of s4 are excellent almost all of the plot crowbarring in the prior 17 required to get her to spawn in in the first place is the worst part of the season. Meanwhile The First is an intangible villain who's there right at the start of the season but can't do anything but monologue at people and summon shitty supervamps until the final five episodes when the writers finally realize that maybe there should be an actual character for the Scoobies to fight but it's far far too late to salvage anything)

'why is Xander the heart when he's Like That' guys Xander is the heart because he is everything that comes with that. In Xanders best moments he is loving, willing to throw himself into danger even though he's the weakest member to protect people he sees as in his circle. In his worst moments Xander is jealousy personified; he views the people he loves as his and gets mad when they don't act in ways he wants them to. Xander will stand in front of Willow as she destroys the world and tell her he will always love her and Xander will also get pissed at Buffy for sleeping with spike despite the fact that its none of his business. He is all the emotions related to being 'the heart' in both healthy and unhealthy degrees. Most of his awful decisions are in some way made out of a sense of love like leaving Anya at the alter because he doesn't want to hurt her further down the line, hell even the cheating with Willow he does both out of love (he loves her) and out of jealousy (she's not focused on him all the time anymore). He is the heart he is the heart he is the heart. And that's not always pretty, but it is what he is.
