“During an exchange with Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware during her confirmation hearing, Hermandorfer conceded that she’d never served as sole or chief counsel in any case, tried to a jury verdict; never served as sole or chief counsel in any case tried to a final judgment; never personally engaged in direct examinations in federal court; never personally engaged in cross-examinations in federal court; never taken depositions; and never defended depositions.”
These Trump appointed judges will still be handing down conservative Republican judgements after many of us will be dead and buried.

Cosmic Dawn through Her Lens: Sophia Roberts
If you’ve seen video footage of the James Webb Space Telescope, there’s a good chance you’ve seen it through her lens.

Sophia Roberts is an astrophysics video producer at NASA Goddard in Maryland. She spent years chasing Webb around the country as one of its primary videographers, documenting its construction and crafting stories that explained why Webb was worth building.
“There were countless potential points of failure. It was up to the communications team to acknowledge those risks honestly and help the public understand why the mission still mattered,” she said.
Sophia’s incredible efforts included capturing hours-long timelapses of major operations, filming inside clean rooms (special facilities where space mission components are assembled and tested), and editing these moments together, bringing the public on Webb’s journey with her. Sophia also tracked down the origins of many of the elements used to create Webb. She was even able to visit and film a beryllium mine, home to the rare metal from which Webb’s mirrors originated.
“Seeing this raw, elemental starting point for something as refined as a space telescope was unforgettable,” Sophia said.
What kept her going was her own curiosity, wondering: Why are the mirrors exposed? Why are they gold? What makes beryllium special? Why is the radiator black?
When Webb was transported via boat from the Port of Los Angeles to French Guiana (the telescope was too heavy to travel by bridge and too large for a plane), Sophia was there too! She rented a chase boat to follow Webb and film its journey.

“Chasing Webb down the California coast at full speed felt like an action movie; and it was the last time we’d ever see it on U.S. soil,” she said.
Leading up to the telescope’s launch, the necessary work became more and more intense…and then launch! and it was done. It took a while to shake the “void” that the job had left behind.
Sophia and her team won several Webbys for their work, recognizing them for their social media campaigns, live broadcasts covering the launch, deployment, and first images, as well as a short film called 29 Days on the Edge, diving into the arduous process of unfolding Webb in space over a month after launch.

Sophia is one of the stars of our newest NASA+ documentary, Cosmic Dawn, which takes you behind the scenes of the world’s most powerful space telescope. See the story through her lens: https://www.nasa.gov/cosmicdawn/.

Something the AI text boom has made me realize is that "no information" is significantly better than "wrong information."
I just saw Doordash AI describe a gallon of blue cheese dressing as a "sweet and refreshing beverage concentrate."

I really hope young folks just discovering Leverage understand that in 2008 a Tesla meant basically the opposite of what it means in 2025. They were so exciting. We were so hopeful.

Yang really is a good sister though.
She saved a spot for Ruby, she lets her vent about her stressful last few hours, she tries to smooth things over with Weiss even though Ruby is old enough to handle this stuff on her own.
Also, wow, Weiss is so mean in Volume 1. Like, I knew it, but she gets all high and mighty with Ruby and hands her (a Huntress in training!!!) a Dust for Dummies pamphlet. Over an explosion that Weiss was very much also at fault for. Like, girl, you were the one basically pouring gasoline all over the smoking zone, you are equally at fault as the person who tripped and set it off.

Also, WOW, Ruby has way more bite and confidence than I remembered from the early Volumes.
Like, she's clearly feeling nervous and out of place, but also, she just skipped ahead two years to get into the best Huntsman Academy on remnant and is in a strange new place! Considering that, she's actually pretty good-spirited and comfortable while looking around and people watching. God knows I wasn't any less unsettled at my college orientation, and I didn't skip ahead two years nor attend, I dunno, Harvard or Cambridge or whatever.
Ruby does get very easily unsettled by Weiss first screaming at her over her luggage, but: 1. Ruby's probably feeling guilty for knocking over Weiss's bags, 2. Weiss is yelling at her and treating her like an invalid, and it's hard to know how to respond to that in a dignified manner, 3. Ruby then causes a giant explosion in Weiss's face and is just trying to be polite and apologetic, 4. Ruby takes Weiss's shit for maybe 20 seconds before snapping at her, saying "I said I was sorry, princess," in a very sharp tone. Ruby didn't actually need Blake's help to put Weiss in her place and make her back off, she was doing fine on her own.
That being said: Blake's putdown over the SDC's unethical business practices, as well as the GORGEOUSLY bitchy and utterly hilarious one-liner "It's heiress, actually." is VERY fun to watch. Rewatch. Whatever.
Anyway, back to my original point: Ruby is pretty damn confident given the crazy circumstances. Once she meets Jaune, someone who's nice to her and not intimidating, she makes conversation and a friend very easily! She's even teasing him about Vomit Boy and whether he's really popular with the ladies and how hopelessly lost both of them are.
Ruby's never been a shirking violet, and now it feels extra weird to me how many times she's been portrayed as such in fandom.

White Rose in Bloom: Day 5, Fluff and Recovery
Weiss: Your recklessness knows zero limits.
Ruby: You're supposed to comfort me! I'm hurt!
Weiss: I'm also not supposed to lie to you either, though, am I?
Ruby: I guess not...
Weiss: *cups Ruby's cheek and kisses her forehead gently, rests a hand on Ruby's arm* Rest easy. Okay?
Ruby: *shivers and gets goosebumps down her arms*
Weiss: *traces the skin of Ruby's forearm gently, speaking quietly, almost in some kind of sick fascination but she can't stop herself* You have goose bumps...
Ruby: Well-! I um... I'll get some shut eye.
Weiss: I'll be here when you wake up.
Ruby: Thank you, Weiss ...
