It was a long tale, but one that had the Gardevoir blinking in surprise, but that surprise soon faded into understanding. N had been through quite a bit, and he had the humbleness to release his dearest friend so that they might have a better life. Ashe was in some ways, similar, but at the same time, she had never encountered a pokemon that wasn’t willing to go with her on journeys, or she didn’t train to their max potential. Both of these children to Morgan, were good, kind, free spirits. Given, they were technically adults, but to her, still children.
It was his answers next that had Morgan’s fingers balling into fists. She couldn’t blame him for misunderstanding as she was purposely being cryptic. Ashe’s story was not her’s to tell – but Ashe had never told anyone her story besides the one who had encountered it personally, and that was the young friend of hers that was called Presh… the one who had seen firsthand what caused Ashe’s constant broken and busted heart to emerge. Why the woman was so quiet and not what Morgan knew she could be… what that Stoutland also had hoped for her, as well as her trainer.
That also landed the question… would Ashe ever be able to tell anyone willingly, or would it take Morgan or Rio to tell it? It was clear the Gardevoir was battling with herself on this, but ultimately decided only to correct that small part. ‘– The Stoutland did not belong to Ashe. She belonged to someone dear to her, however, and she was one of her babysitters alongside myself.’ She paused then, hearing Ashe stir from inside her room. Quickly, she changed the conversation to N speak of Alola. ‘… Well, I guess, then, that you’ll have to experience Alola properly. I don’t doubt that Ashe would take you where you wish to go…’ She flicked her red gaze to the door and then to N. ‘… and as for why she didn’t ask…’
Her voice lowered, cutting off her telepathic connection so that it only went to N to hear. ‘… it’s because prying into someone’s past when you have a painful one yourself just doesn’t sit well with her.’ Maybe she had dropped too big a hint just then, but if it would help Ashe not to freak out anymore around this potential new friend – Morgan was willing to do that at least. Getting to her feet, the pokemon glided over to where Ashe was, opening up her psychic connection to read her emotions and slowly calm then using a simple ability of her’s.
Ashe looked like hell with red, puffy eyes, but, she would be alright in time. Stepping out fully, she was now wearing a hoodie that resembled that of a Liepard’s coloration, and she brought her hood up to hide her face. “… I look like crap, so just… ignore my face for a bit, yeah?” Ashe asked N quietly once Morgan stepped aside. “… I’m sorry about what happened.” She gave a polite dip of her head. “… and… um… if I can make it up to you, i’d like to take you to the Shrine of Tapu Koko near here.” She’s avoiding looking him in the eye – at least for now.
@wheeling-ideals
Ah, so he’d been mistaken about Ashe owning the Stoutland. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he gave an apologetic gesture to Morgan...That’d been his mistake. But, he did understand how having a painful past would be. Still...He wouldn’t mind it if Ashe did help him experience the Alola Region properly. It would be nice, to journey with somebody that had such wonderful Pokémon friends.
But, any reply N had died in his throat when Ashe joined them...And all the worse for wear, it seemed. Her Liepard-colored hoodie was rather cute though, if that was the right word for it. But...More importantly, N was concerned for if Ashe would really be alright. He did note that she was avoiding eye contact, but that was fine.
“Nonsense, Ashe. You’ve done nothing that needs forgiveness, I assure you. I was just discussing the Alola Region with Morgan here...And, she happened to mention that you might be willing to accompany me. But, more importantly, we did discuss going to Tapu Koko’s shrine, didn’t we? ...I’m looking forward to seeing it, myself. The chance to experience a piece of Alola’s history...The formula that makes up this Region...It’s an exhilarating feeling.”

Okay, so replies will probably be a little slow since my “e” key is acting up a lot. I’m having to copy the letter itself to type coherently, and it sucks...I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll work on replies when it stops acting up!

‘It would make her feel ill at ease, I must admit, but people and pokemon come in and out of one another’s lives for a reason. It isn’t something she is unused too, nor you, I suspect.’ The Gardevoir shifted red eyes briefly to the door her trainer hid behind, still trying to get a grasp on her emotions, and then looked to N once more. ‘I don’t mind talking or explaining things about the Alola Region, but you mentioned you’ve been here before. Exactly how and why? You also mentioned Zekrom. Why is it not with you now?’ Ashe would never be so forward with such questions – but Morgan? She might have been testing this chosen child of legends just a bit.
‘… Hmm. Well, I wouldn’t say I was left with much choice to come under Ashe’s care. It’s more like my trainer made terrible choices and I manipulated Ashe’s aunt into sending me to be under Ashe’s care. So… you could say I’ve been apart of this family for a long time.’ While some of Ashe’s story was intertwined with Morgan’s, and she might be dropping hints here and there… she primarily stuck to her own view on things. ‘I will tell you one thing about Ashe and I – and that’s that I’ve known the girl since she was but a babe in her crib. I was a Kirlia back then, but I was always watching over her alongside another ‘mon that sadly passed not too long ago. She was a Stoutland, an elderly one that passed on of old age and lived a good life.’
@wheeling-ideals
Morgan did have a point...Meetings and partings were a natural part of the world, and N had experienced his own fair share of both. And there was always a reason for those, whether for good or ill purposes he couldn’t say...Though, he did have a bit of nostalgia thinking about his initial journey to Alola. It was only a shame that he’d been unable to go on a proper journey.
“I came to Alola with some close friends of mine I’d befriended on a journey some time ago...However, I didn’t spend much time journeying, compared to them. They saw many things, and battled plenty of powerful Trainers and Pokémon. I, on the contrary, spent a regrettable amount of time thinking about other things...So, I didn’t have the chance to truly experience Alola as it deserved, which is what led to my return recently and my subsequent meeting with Ashe on Akala Island. As for how I got here initially, I’m...Afraid I can’t quite recall. I did come with a Tropius that I believe I borrowed, though.”
N pauses momentarily when Morgan asks about Zekrom...Honestly, he’d expected Ashe to ask sooner, but he didn’t blame Morgan for being curious. There was a solemn look on his face, mixed with some worry as he exhaled...Well, he couldn’t hide that forever, and he’d been planning to discuss it if it came up anyway. So, he saw no reason to hide it further.
“As for why Zekrom isn’t with me...I honestly expected that question sooner. I no longer travel with Zekrom, though it taught me countless lessons about this world. You see...About three years ago or so, Team Plasma remnants led by Ghetsis made another bid at conquering the Unova Region using the power of the Legendary Pokémon Kyurem, whom was born when Reshiram and Zekrom split from the original Dragon Pokémon the two heroes of legend stood alongside. When I heard what was happening, I raced back to protect the Region I loved so dearly as swiftly as I could. However, I only really saved the life of the one that would save Kyurem, and defeat Ghetsis once and for all. The Trainer I met then reminded me of that Trainer...
So, once they had become Champion, I met them near the Nimbasa City Ferris Wheel and rode with them. After that, I lured them to Team Plasma’s Castle with Zoroark’s aid, which is now little more than a ruin deep within Unova’s Victory Road, and had them guide me to the throne room where that fateful battle had taken place so very long ago. And...We battled. Zekrom versus the Pokémon that had seen them through their journey. As you can imagine, Zekrom and I lost...Zekrom was reluctant at first, worried about whether I would truly be alright or not, but that Trainer was more worthy of Zekrom’s guidance than I ever was. It might have been egoism on my part, and even partially motivated by a selfish desire to see Zekrom with somebody that I felt was more worthy than I was.
...But, eventually, Zekrom and I both came to the agreement to entrust the Black Stone to that Trainer, so that they could face Zekrom atop Dragonspiral Tower. I had missed the trial itself, but arrived right as they captured Zekrom to inform them of something I’d heard regarding Kyurem. That Trainer was kind to their Pokémon; as we battled, I could tell it from a glance. That was what led to my decision, alongside their duel against Ghetsis in the Giant Chasm and the lengths they went to save Kyurem.
Not a day goes by where I don’t wish I could see Zekrom again, though...Even if it was just for a moment, I would like to see my dear friend again, to hear the things it has experienced, and how much it might have grown with its new Hero. Sometimes, I even wonder if I should have kept Zekrom at my side...But, then I remember the decision we ultimately came to. To think like that after that decision would only disrespect Zekrom, and the Trainer it now walks alongside, I feel.”
Even now...Part of N wondered if he’d made the right decision back then. But, he always remembered the look of relief on Zekrom’s face when he’d managed to assure it, and brushed those thoughts from his mind...That’s right, he couldn’t walk alongside the Legendary Pokémon forever. The age of a new Hero had dawned, and N had fulfilled his duty to pass Zekrom on to the one he’d deemed most worthy of its guidance.
And finally, Morgan began to speak of her own history with Ashe. She was far older than he’d assumed...And, it sounded like she’d engineered things so that she would be with Ashe, based on what she’d said. She must care about Ashe more than N could ever realize, he felt...Though, it was a shame to hear that Ashe had lost one of her longtime Pokémon friends recently.
“I see, so you’ve always been close to Ashe...For what it’s worth, I want to offer my condolences for the Stoutland’s passing. They are loyal Pokémon, and wonderful friends from what I’ve seen of those who do travel with them. I’ll admit, I’ve never raised one though. Still, to be part of Ashe’s life for so long...She’s fortunate, to have Pokémon that care for her so deeply remain in her life.”

multitudesofmuses:
Finally, she could get a good look at the man that had saved her from a nasty fall. He certainly seemed different from normal Pokémon Trainers she had encountered before. Regardless, he seemed like a good guy. At the very least, he wasn’t wearing a Pokémon Pinchers uniform. There were still pockets of that group around the islands, even though she had managed to disperse the main faction. It was the only reason she hadn’t been sent back to the Ranger Union back in Almia.
A small chuckle escaped her at the idea of having a ‘stern discussion’ with Latias.
“She was probably just trying to play and thought it would be funny to scare me with a little boost. It’s not like she’s completely used to people riding on her back either. She’s a wild Pokémon doing me a favour. Couldn’t get around Oblivia so easily without her help. She’s probably flying around up there now trying to find me, so it’s best that I head off to a clearing somewhere that she can see me.” Summer replied, the second part of her statement seeming to be her own thoughts being spoken aloud.
The question of accompaniment surprised her a bit, but not by much. Some people felt safer travelling unknown areas with a ranger. Summer had done plenty of escorts herself before, so she didn’t have any issue with this. Still, if he wanted an expert on the area, she was going to have to disappoint him. “I’m not from this area. There’s no ranger bases here, so I’ve only been transferred here for a short amount of time, so I’m still learning new things about the place myself. But if that’s okay with you, I’d be happy to have some company. On the condition that if I have to do something dangerous, you keep away from that danger, of course.” Civilian safety came first after all.
A Wild Pokémon doing her a favor...Right, Rangers didn’t carry Poké Balls unless necessary, so they tended to rely on wild Pokémon to assist them. Though...Rangers tended to use a variety of powerful Pokémon if they did utilize Poké Balls, which made sense considering their profession. Still, it would seem that his companion Summer’s current predicament was caused by her Pokémon friend accidentally having a prank backfire...In which case, they were likely worried sick. Wild or no, the fact that Summer had befriended that Pokémon was reason enough for N to want to help her.
And, she’d mentioned something about heading off to a clearing...Though, it was a shame that she was still learning more places about this Region herself. In a way, it was also exciting. If he could get the chance to assist Summer somehow, then perhaps he could learn more about Oblivia...Though, he did understand why she said that he’d have to keep away if something dangerous kept up. He was technically a civilian, after all...And allowing him to risk his life could risk her job, couldn’t it?
“I see...Still, it shouldn’t a problem at all, I would think. Now, our first, and most important, priority should be reuniting you with your Pokémon friend first and foremost, wouldn’t you agree? And I might have Pokémon at my side, but even I know to defer to a Ranger’s judgment when traveling with one, or so I’ve been told, so you needn’t worry about me jumping headlong into a dangerous situation...You see, I’ve...Never interacted with many Rangers, though there are those in Unova that utilize their own Pokémon in battles. I imagine they do different work than you do though, Summer. While I’m on the subject of Rangers, though...Would you be willing to tell me more about the Ranger Union? Nothing too serious, mind. I want to know more about the organization as a whole, due to my lack of knowledge on them.”

“Ow ow…” the female winced as she slowly placed her hands on the pavement she was sitting on. She slowly opened one of her eyes to look up at him. “Y-Yeah, I’m okay…” she answered him. She was lucky she didn’t scrape her knee or anything when she fell.
She cleaned her hands off and grabbed a couple of her Pokéballs that she had dropped, placing them back into her bag.
“I was in such a hurry I hardly noticed you… I’m sorry.” She apologized.
It was a good thing that the young lady N had bumped into wasn’t harmed...Still, based on how she’d picked up Poké Balls when she fell, she had to be a Trainer...This had to be a stroke of luck, considering his current predicament. Still, hadn’t he been the one to bump into her? Yet, she was the one apologizing...Well, there wasn’t much else to do about it. If N wanted any hope of navigating this city, then...
He’d just have to chance getting his bearings on this young lady. So, with that in mind, N flashed a gentle smile, before offering his hand to help the other up.
“O-Oh, well, I suppose if you wish to apologize, let us both apologize for bumping into one another, shall we? And, I know it may be rather sudden, considering we just bumped into one another...But, could I ask you to help me navigate this city? You see, I arrived on Melemele Island not long ago, and...Well, I’m lost, for lack of a better word. Having a guide would be more than welcomed, I have to admit.”
Welcome to Melemele Island, N! (Open RP)

While Logan leapt off the couch and headed to his trainer’s side, enough to calm Priam and have him return to his pokeball and so Ashe could return it to its place, the woman was then escorted to what could be determined as her bedroom to calm down and gather her thoughts by said Liepard, leaving both ‘mons to explain what was going on to N.
‘It’s nothing you need to blame yourself for.’ While Rio went back to tending to the kitchen, Morgan invited N to have a seat while she sat herself down as well, fanning out her skirt like a lady might do her dress. ‘I cannot tell you her full story, as her story is something she must tell herself… but I will tell you that the diagnosis is crippling anxiety that can be set on from just about anything, but is usually set off by her past.’ She pauses. ‘Rio and I are her first line of defense from others and herself, besides Oki who is her second line, literally being named as the Shield of Galar.’ The Gardevoir paused yet again. ‘I can guarantee you she will be fine. Just give her some time to calm down… and as someone who is very in-tune with my trainer’s emotions, I can tell she’s intrigued enough by you to continue wanting to talk and possibly consider you a friend. So… while I would understand if you left, I ask that you give her a chance… if you would be so inclined.’
Her kindness was natural as Ashe usually was kind to most people unless you pissed her off enough to have her snap, and so Morgan said nothing on that.
@wheeling-ideals
N was silent as he followed Morgan, taking a seat as bidden as he listened to the other’s explanation of Ashe’s situation. Crippling anxiety...That’s right, N had seen a few Pokémon suffer from a similar condition during his time in Team Plasma, though theirs were through severe human-induced mistreatment. It...Likely couldn’t be compared to the situation Ashe was in. Still...He had no plans to leave, causing him to shake his head gently at Morgan. He couldn’t just abandon somebody that treated her Pokémon with such kindness, let alone a man like him...And if Morgan thought that giving Ashe time to calm down would be enough, then...He’d believe in her, as a Pokémon who was in tune with Ashe’s emotions.
Still...N was relieved when Morgan had said he didn’t need to blame herself. He seemed to have been worrying so much for nothing on that front, though he did still worry about Ashe. Though...He could only assume that her discussing her past before had wound up being the trigger.
“Were I to leave, I have no doubts that it would be an irreparable mistake...I’m thankful I chose to speak with you, Morgan. If you’re certain that leaving Ashe alone for a while will be alright, then I defer to your judgment reverently. In the meantime...Do you want to pass the time with conversation, if only so Ashe has the time she requires to calm down? There’s a lot of knowledge that I still lack about Alola and its customs, for the purpose of understanding people and Pokémon better, so being able to learn from someone that’s lived in the Region first hand would be a boon to me...Plus, I always enjoy the chance to speak with another Trainer’s Pokémon. I’ve heard many stories of wonderful Trainers from happy Pokémon, who wouldn’t trade their Trainers for anything in the world...If you like, I could share some of those stories in exchange, if you’re curious.”

Heading into Iki Town, they’d be greeted by a small but warm little town where people bustled about, acting as any town would. Ashe stopped as a few kids approached her and Oki, and despite her dislike of children, these two kids were greeted warmly – mostly because they knew her boundaries, and with that, a smile spread across the scarred legendary’s lips, a soft awoo coming from him in greeting – and not to mention as a yapping Rockruff approached. Answering their questions despite the visible signs of anxiety, she sent them off on their own with their Rockruff in tow. She turned to look at N, offering a faint smile. “That pokemon is a Rockruff, and those kids are one of many here in Iki Town.”
She turned and headed deeper into the town, heading for a rather large house at the edge of town where she gave a pat to Oki’s side. The lumbering canine went and laid down and Ashe unlocked the door, pushing it open. “This is where I live and work.” Inside, it was… not the more organized place, but it was kept well enough. A Liepard laid on the couch nearby while a Lucario tended to stacking dishes and food bowls for the pokemon nearby. Both ‘mons opened their eyes as Ashe released Morgan from her pokeball, and she set about putting the others on a rack that was filled with numerous kinds – but surprisingly not as many as one might think.
Taking a moment to introduce the ‘mons present, she introduced the Lucario as Rio, and the Liepard, her partner of seventeen years and counting, Logan. “… and inside this Ultra Ball…” She picked a ball off the rack. “… is Priam.” She turned to face him. “Priam doesn’t typically need orders, so your Zoroark friend and him can spar without an official battle.” Really, she wasn’t in any mood for a battle, and visibly by her reddened cheeks and some spots on her upper forearms, she was having an anxiety attack – albeit a mini-one. “Priam knows the places around Iki Town’s forest best to spar. If I let him loose, would you be okay with your friend going with him? I mean, Priam is a bit hot-headed but he won’t leave a pokemon hurt, and–”
‘Breathe, Ashe.’ A voice not of anyone in the room came forth from nearby. It was feminine, and unsurprisingly from Morgan, a psychic type who could project her voice out to talk. Not to mention Rio who had a similar ability, but was far more quiet. Logan even looked visibly disturbed by his master’s anxiety.

“Ehe… Sorry…” The Ultra Ball visibly shook, threatening to let Priam free, and with that, Ashe began to panic. Hurrying past N to the front door, she tossed it forward and from it sprung a large shape who landed with a resounding thump, scaring some local people who stared in surprise and shock at his sudden appearance – but they weren’t unused to it. Roaring and lowering himself a bit to rest on his knuckles, his tail swished behind him, a soft growl rumbling in his throat, watching the front door and Ashe expectantly.
“S… Sorry. I…” She didn’t know who she was apologizing too, but she was losing her composure slowly.
@wheeling-ideals
..The battle could wait. That was N’s decision as he chose to recall Zoroark to its Poké Ball; it could understand enough to know that something was wrong, after all. No, what was important was making certain that Ashe was alright, even if he didn’t know what was going on. It was probably safe to assume that he was connected somehow, but N couldn’t simply leave Ashe like this. That would likely only make things worse somehow, as far as he knew...But, interfering could escalate things, as well.
...Argh, it was about now that N was cursing his ignorance. He needed to do something to help Ashe, even if he didn’t know how to help her; he’d never forgive himself if he just left, or stood idly by when he could do something...But, he wasn’t sure if Ashe’s Pokémon would be willing to allow him to aid them in anything they did either, considering he’d been a stranger to them until a very short while ago, but...If he was going to figure out what he could do to help, then they would be the ones who knew Ashe best.
And considering Morgan had spoken up, perhaps she and Rio the Lucario may be able to help, even if they likely didn’t trust him, due to their abilities...And that wasn’t addressing the Kommo’o that had been released outside, either. This was a complicated situation, and N could tell that the slightest mistake might cause things to escalate.
If anything...He'd place his hopes in the friends Ashe had made through her travels, so that he could make things right somehow with their guidance if this was his fault in any way.
“...Morgan, Rio. I don’t know if you trust me or not considering how short the time I’ve known Ashe has been, but...If I am related to whatever is going on, please, permit me to help make things right somehow. On my own, I fear that anything I might do will make the situation escalate to a point I cannot handle, but I can’t simply walk away, or ignore the situation in front of my eyes either. She was kind to me, even after hearing my tale...
So, I want to repay that kindness somehow...But, aiding Ashe takes priority over anything else, even my Pokémon’s desire to battle. I admit openly, I am ignorant to whatever’s going on...That’s why I want to know how I can possibly help from those who know Ashe best, so that I can atone for any wrongdoing I may have done to cause this.”

Stopping and watching the Zoroark, she couldn’t help but tilt her head, a new emotion appearing on her features – one of understanding, and a soft smile, surprisingly. She knew some pokemon preferred to only battle, such as her Kommo-o whom she had left today to rest. She took a bit to answer N, but when she did, she looked up at him. “If he wants to battle, he’s free to spar with my Kommo-o, Priam. He’s not with me right now, but where we’re going, you’ll get to see him. He’s rather large for his species, but he loves to battle and spar. Hence why I didn’t bring him today since I didn’t want to spook the Mudbray and Mudsdale.”
She greeted the Zoroark nonetheless with a small dip of her head, and then left it be. Oki, on the other hand, stared at the fox for a while longer before turning and following Ashe in the designated direction towards Iki Town – and while Ashe had expected the explanation to be something lighter and not as heavy, she stopped when he said his full name and how he had been apart of the incident, at its heart it seemed.
Turning and looking at him, she could only listen in silence until he mentioned being a victim of his father’s machinations, and his explanation behind being connected to Zekrom. It was a lot to take in – this whole story, and it took her a moment to roll over the words in her mind, but finally she was able to answer him – and what came first was a genuine look of remorse. She didn’t like bringing up her family in the least bit, but she understood what it was like to have a parent that didn’t care for you – at least not in the way a parent should.
The only real parent she had that cared for her was recently deceased, and that alone almost brought tears to her eyes, but thankfully Oki nudged her to snap her out of shedding any tears in front of people. While it was healthy to get such emotions out – she… wasn’t the kind to do it in front of others. Her ‘mons? Yes. People? No.
“… You have committed crimes that you will have to answer for eventually, but you’re taking the right steps to at least try – and that’s good enough for now.” She pauses. “I’m sure that trainer you befriended some years ago would say the same thing – or close to it.” She probably could have said more, but being as she was, she… didn’t think she could without overstepping a boundary. “– Iki Town isn’t far from here. You said you wanted to meet more Alolan ‘mons. Let’s head that way.” She offers a faint smile in N’s direction before turning and gripping a hand into Oki’s fur, heading up the steep path into the woodland.
@wheeling-ideals
...That Trainer might say something similar, huh...? No, N knew they’d have likely said the same thing, likely. That Trainer...They’d been nothing but wonderful to their Pokémon, after all. And they’d been the one to teach him how vast their world truly was...Now he was thinking about how nice it’d be to see them again.
The offer Ashe had made to let Zoroark battle her Kommo’o was tempting, too. Zoroark had been spoiling for a fight since they’d arrived, after all, so hopefully it would settle him down and appease him at the same time. Two birds with one Hard Stone, so to speak.
“...When my time comes, I will answer for my crimes willingly. After all, I very nearly destroyed this world’s order with my innocence.” N finally responded, closing his eyes as he allowed a faint smile on his face. Even if he was likely one of the most wanted men in Unova, he still managed to navigate easily...Plus, he refused to allow his dream to be used to hurt the people of Unova again, let alone the Pokémon. After all...It was his beloved home, he mused as he followed Ashe onto the woodland path.
“And, I will tell the ones to judge me anything they may need to know. That is but one thing I can do to atone for what I’ve done, right? Now, as you said, we should probably move...I’m looking forward to seeing what Pokémon we may encounter. I’m getting excited just thinking about it, honestly.”

Okay, so! I know I haven’t been the most active despite my burning desire to write with you all, but considering today is Thanksgiving, I wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving Day!

The gardevoir was suspicious in general of this strange person, but she did as she was told and teleported them to the Pokemon School. It wasn’t active being the holiday season and what not, and so this meant they could head out without any interruptions. “Thanks, Morg’.” Ashe offered a faint smile to the Gardevoir who only nodded her head, closing her eyes as she was returned to her pokeball. Slipping it away, she pulled out the master ball again and released Oki who shook out his thick, shaggy fur, letting out a soft ‘awoo’ to them both.
“It’s pretty quiet around here, so you can let your Zoroark out now – and you can take that as a yes, i’d love to meet him – and for him to be like that, he must want to be with you always. That’s how Logan is with me, and as for Kahuna Hala… he is. He’s basically like the father of this island, chosen by Tapu Koko itself to care for the people, but with him getting on in age, many are looking to his grandson, Hau, to one day take over as Kahuna.”
As a fellow Unovian, she was more then excited to meet such a rare Unovian ‘mon. “You don’t need to worry about him being seen in Hau’oli City or Iki Town much either – trust me when I say that you’ll see your fair share of interesting ‘mons there.” Although… Oki would hide out of habit. He was one of a kind, and people would try to bombard her with questions no doubt, which was… a terror in in itself thinking about. Not that she didn’t like answering questions about him, but from the standpoint she didn’t do well in large crowds…
She felt a chill up her spine just thinking about it.
“Hau’oli City is down the road from where we’re standing heading west, but if we want to reach Iki Town, we want to head east, so it’s up to you.” Besides that, she was curious about a number of things. “While we walk… can you… tell me about something I’ve heard about from some other people? I mean, you’re from Unova, so…” She felt awkward just asking this, but… “Have you heard of something called the ‘Plasma Incident’? Some people I met not too long ago mentioned it. I was… concerned, considering I was from Castelia, but…” At the same time, she was glad to be rid of Unova too. She had severely mixed feelings about it all, but… well… what could one do?

It was a small comfort that the Pokémon Trainer’s School was empty, presumably due to the holidays. It made N deciding to pull Zoroark’s Poké Ball off of his belt even easier, even if he didn’t have the need to hide Zoroark anyway according to Ashe. Though N hadn’t met the Kahuna of Melemele Island, he did know enough to know how respected he was. A man chosen by the Legendary Pokémon Tapu Koko to serve as the island’s leader, and one that acted as friend and caretaker to all on the island...A true leader.
Nothing at all like he’d been. While he did protect the members of Team Plasma, in the end...He’d been nothing but a puppet. But, he was digressing by thinking of such things. There was an introduction to make, no?
“Zoroark, introduce yourself!” N calls, before throwing the Poké Ball up. As it snapped open, a flash of light shot out from within, soon coalescing in front of him as it formed into the shape of the Illusion Fox Pokémon. Once it had materialized, N caught its Poké Ball skillfully, as Zoroark stared at Ashe suspiciously. It didn’t seem like it’d been called out to battle, so Zoroark huffs irritably, before heading over to N to complain with a very vocal growl. “...Yes, yes, I know you’d prefer to be called out for battles, old friend. But, I did promise to introduce you, so please humor me for a while, won’t you?”
Zoroark’s reluctant response of agreement only made N chuckle; he’d make it up to Zoroark later with his favorite Berries later on.
“Ahaha, my apologies, Ashe. Zoroark usually prefers to be called out for battle, so he isn’t quite so social. He loves Chople Berries, though, so I’ll have to give him some later as compensation for humoring me...But, I digress. I look forward to meeting more of Alola’s Pokémon, and perhaps I may try to befriend one myself. As for our path...We can head to Hau’oli once we’ve visited Iki Town. I don’t believe it will be going anywhere, so we can take our time speaking of whatever you desire to discuss if you wish.”
However, N pauses the moment the Plasma Incident comes up...He supposed it shouldn’t surprise him that people from Unova spoke of it sometimes, even if they’d all moved forward from both of those incidents. After all, it’d played a major part in Unova’s recent history...Even if it was all born from the mind of his mad father’s thirst for conquest and domination.
“...I was at the center of the original Plasma Incident, as a matter of fact...But, it’s important to note that there were two Plasma Incidents. My involvement in the second is limited to saving the life of the one who resolved it at its climax.” N paused, hesitating for the briefest moment despite remembering his offer. How long had it been since he’d actually shared this story to an outsider? “You see...My full name is Natural Harmonia Gropius. That’s right, I am the former King of Team Plasma, and the adopted son of Ghetsis Harmonia of the Seven Sages. Back then, I had been raised to believe that people and Pokémon needed to be clearly distinct by being separated, that things needed to be black and white...And as a result, I was chosen by the Legendary Pokémon of Ideals, Zekrom, as a part of Ghetsis’s plans. However...There was a certain Trainer, who was chosen by Reshiram at the climax of that incident, that made me realize that people and Pokémon needed one another in order to reach their true potential. That...Was also when I learned that Ghetsis had just been using me for his goals of world domination, and had intentionally raised me to be the perfect pawn for his schemes. That was over six years ago now, at least.”
N pauses for a moment, gathering his thoughts...It had shattered his worldview when he’d learned his beliefs had just been crafted as a tool for Ghetsis’s plans. But...He’d managed to pick the pieces back up, and decide on his own Ideals...His own dream, one that would not hurt people nor Pokémon.
“...You know, I originally left on this journey because I couldn’t bring myself to face that Trainer once everything was settled, and so I could better understand the hearts of both people and Pokémon. The location I mentioned in Driftveil is run by those of Old Team Plasma who still share in my ideals, and seek to atone for their crimes by caring for the “liberated” Pokémon that we so wrongfully separated from their beloved Trainers...And, they wholeheartedly believe in the dream I have taken up: to create a world where humans and Pokémon can live side by side in the modern era, without Poké Balls, as we once did in ancient times. To make that dream a reality, I intend to use my gift so that we humans can understand Pokémon without misconceptions as I should have been doing as Team Plasma’s King.
I will admit to you upfront, Ashe, Oki...I was a fool for allowing myself to be used without thinking any better, and my innocence due to Ghetsis’s careful grooming was a truly terrifying thing. Make no mistake, either...I am fully complicit for the crimes I committed as Team Plasma’s King. I may never atone for the horrible things I’ve done in my past, either...But, that doesn’t mean I will allow guilt to consume me, not when I still have chances to use my gift for the sake of humans and Pokémon both. In order to follow the path I have chosen, I must keep walking forward, for the sake of all those who still follow me...And, for the friends I have made, both human and Pokémon. So that when I can face that Trainer again, I can tell them my true feelings of gratitude that I hold for everything they did for both Unova and myself."
