I'd saved a buuunch of Blue Lock merch art (they're literally dropping banger after banger) thinking I'd even out the edits this time, include a bunch of different characters wherever possible (Candidates were Ian, Michael, Brooklyn, Tala, Rai, Giancarlo and Olivier - Ian, Giancarlo and Olivier I already have edited chibi versions of and the other 4 have official chibi art of them).

But now I'm thinking that I'll just spam Tyson content cuz he deserves all the love, or at least all my love 💙

I, as a v force and takao apologist overall, once again want to bring light to this because i 110% agree with @jovialstar ! I’ve talked about this exact same episode and the issue before. Im glad someone else had a similar take on this too! It’s just a matter of understanding the seasons, ages and situations of the characters and then things automatically fall in place.

People calling season 1 Tyson a nicer person will forever be funny to me because if youve watched the season carefully you’d know he was the exact same with the only difference being that he wasn’t as emotionally wrecked as he was in V force. In face, he had matured quite a bit and set his ego side. in V force he was the same old Takao who was kind and understanding and he’ll always be, even if he doesn’t have the best ways of showing it. He’s just a somewhat disturbed/regular teenager who’s growing and trying to figure his mess out. It’s a show that 100% needs to be viewed from a realistic perspective.

Yiiiiiiiiiikes. Somebody has been spending too much time with Kai....

Real talk though, I fucking hate this episode.

Until now Takao's strength has been his belief in his friends. Yes, he's got a giant ego and he's often much too full of himself, but he has always been able to put all his faith in those around him. I'd even be willing to bet he's the kind of person who could trust a total stranger with his whole heart. Takao believes in the good of people, even if they're not someone he's particularly fond of.

Look at how he praised Yuriy during the final match. He was up against an enemy who had stolen from his friends, and hurt Seiryuu, and yet Takao smiled and complimented his strength.

So this moment comes as a complete slap in the face and is completely out of character for our main protagonist.

Shame on the writers!

It makes sense that he's afraid in this moment, that he has doubt in the strength of himself and his team. But the Takao we know would NEVER talk down to his friends like this. He might slip on occasion and say something a little hurtful when his ego gets the better of him, but he would never intentionally be so cruel.

This is a Kai moment through and though, and it's extremely unfortunate that the writers felt they had to give it to Takao.

There are 1000 better ways to write a conflict between friends that starts with Takao being bratty other than what they've chosen to do here.

There was another moment in the series that I meant to comment on that I felt was extremely out of character, but I forgot to screen shot it.

Kyoujyu gives Kai an updated Dranzer (the only blade that's not in the V-series by this point) and Max gets jealous about it claiming that it's not fair that only Kai gets a new blade.

Max wouldn't fucking do that?

Max would be excited for Kai.

I've been praising the writers for their work on Kai, and I stand by it. They've been doing wonderful development with him. But it's come at the cost of the rest of the team.

Edit: Yeah, okay, so as the episodes continue, this conflict becomes more what it should have been from the start. Takao is afraid of losing to team Psykick, so afraid that he's willing to resort to cheap tricks and cheating to beat them. In this time he forgets himself and starts acting differently, and that's fine. There's not a person in this world who hasn't let anxiety guide them to make a bad decision that is a little out of character. It happens.

The team call Takao out for not acting like himself, and after getting wrecked in a fight with Ozma using his illegal modded Dragoon, he snaps out of it.

This is much better writing, and an example of one of the 1000 other conflicts that could have been written instead of Takao just suddenly turning on his friends. I don't find it a stretch for Takao to make a rash decision like cheating while he's under immense pressure and is fearing for the safety of Seiryuu.

Ep. 49 of Beyblade season 1 has one of the craziest scenes EVER in my humble opinion.

Like, imagine you are rewatching the first season of Beyblade some 15-20 years later because it was your favourite show when you were a teenager and you get to the final match between Takao and Yuriy. You remember some scenes, you enjoy it, everything is fine.

Then you get to the scene where there are these men in suit and tie carefully watching the match, each one on his personal screen, with serious and somewhat concerned expressions, in a room that doesn't seem to have any windows letting some light in. And you are like "was this in the show 15 years ago??"

And then the US flag shows up and you realise it's like... the National Security Agency? The CIA? The fucking Pentagon??

And that's the freaking US President??? Watching a match of Beyblade? Feeling threatened by a Russian teenager??

And you, now an adult, are like:
