Thank you so much for the positive response my writing has been getting. I have an idea for a RK800 Connor x reader fic. It's going to have quite a different tone from my recent stories and could potentially become a series if people would like it to.
I was just wondering if you would prefer the reader to be female or gender neutral?

Risk
"How's it going Hank?" you ask as you open the door to his apartment. You set down a bag of groceries on the counter before facing the two men in the room. "Fowler said that I have to rest my leg again today. I'm sure that I have just twisted my ankle but tin man over here thinks otherwise. Thanks for the groceries though, you really are too kind to me." Hank replied. The shaggy haired man was laid out on the couch with Connor sitting in a chair opposite. You looked at the swelling of Hank's leg.   "Well I have to say that I agree with Connor on this one. If you can't put any weight on it tomorrow I'll be taking you to the hospital." you admit, Connor smiled at you in agreement. Hank lifted one of his hands and placed it on his forehead as he let out an overly dramatic gasp of fake shock, which made you giggle.   You couldn't believe that it had only been six months since you had met this slightly odd crime fighting duo. Hank was a bit rough around the edges but had a heart of gold. Connor was an android who you found completely fascinating. Despite being a machine, he was kind and loyal. You worked with them at the DPD and very quickly became friends.
The two men watched you in slight confusion as you started to tidy up the room. "Hey, there will be none of that Missy, you are my guest. Besides Connor was just about to do that." Hank interrupted. You looked at Hank with an inquisitive eyebrow. Your suspicions were confirmed when Connor stared at him in confusion. Silently you walk into the kitchen past a sleeping Sumo. Returning a few moments later with a cup of coffee along with a packet of chips that you set down next to Hank and a cushion. Gently you lifted his injured leg and placed the cushion underneath it.   "Thanks, ya didn't have to do tha-" Hank said before you cut him off. "I know." you laughed as you lifted his cup of coffee to him so he could take a sip. Luckily you were too busy focusing on Hank's welfare to notice that Connor was transfixed by you. It always overwhelmed his circuits to see you numerous acts of kindness and selflessness. He had to admit that you were one of the reasons for his faith in humanity.
The rare moment of peace was interrupted by your phone buzzing. Reaching into your pocket you look at the illuminated screen. The message was from Fowler who had sent you details of a case. There's an android that has been threatening its owner but the situation has escalated drastically.  "Connor, there's a new case tha" "Got it" he interrupted as he grabbed your hand and pulled you out of the apartment.   "Bye Hank" you managed to call out before you left. "Take care kids." he yelled back.
It was a bit of a different dynamic to be on a mission without Hank. You liked his 'telling it like it is' attitude. Though you had no objection to being with Connor. Without Hank though, the android's programming could kick in and make him into a far more serious machine. However, in the last couple of months you had grown really close to Connor. He had become like a best friend. You could tell him your troubles and he would not judge you like a human would. It was one of your hopes that the android also felt close to you.
After hailing for a cab, the journey to the crime scene was not that long. The more information that was fed through to you about the current situation, the more of a nervous knot formed in your stomach. Especially when you heard the details on how the mission was going to be carried out.  "Why would they want me to go into the room alone? I guess it gives your time to collect as much data as possible." you say in confusion.   "No I'll be right by your side. It's illogical for you to go in unaccompanied." Connor replied sternly with a frown. You stared at him not wanting to argue but not wanting to disobey your orders either. Sure you would feel a lot better if Connor was in the room with you, especially with an out of control android but you also did not want to go against what Fowler instructed.
Instinctively, you place a hand on Connor's arm in reassurance. You had been working together for long enough now, that he must know that you can take care of yourself in these kinds of situations. Your lips curled up into a small smile which Connor quickly mirrored. It was funny but you sometimes wondered if Connor could reciprocate feelings. He would always claim to be merely a machine but lately you had seen him to display things that have to be emotions. Or was it you? Sure the pair of you were close but you were currently trying to figure out how you felt about the android. You were friends but you would often daydream about the possibility of becoming more than that. Was that even a possibility? What were you thinking? Quickly you banish the thought from your mind. Now was definitely not the time or the place.
The taxi pulled up outside an old house. You looked at Connor, prolonging the time before you had to get out of the car. Even after all of this time, you still felt nervous just before you went to a crime scene. To your surprise, Connor leaned forward slightly and whispered "Don't worry, you'll be fine." Taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, you exit the taxi. The intel had informed you that the suspect was currently in the kitchen which was in the front half of the house. Quietly, you opened the front door as the pair of you crept inside. Objects were scattered everywhere, broken glass speckled the floor and feint scratch marks lined some of the walls. There must have been a struggle in here. You glanced at Connor one last time before reluctantly walking into the next room.
Quietly stepping into the kitchen the first thing you saw was a figure searching the room. A red LED light flashed frantically on its face. Your attention was brought to a kitchen counter on your left as another figure was crouched down on the floor trembling. Looking at her appearance, you could tell it was the android's owner. Your first objective was to make sure that the owner got out of the building safely. How do you approach this? You could tell the android that you were a member of the police force but there was a high chance of this spooking the android.
"Hello, the door was open so I thought I would pop in to see if everything was alright." you called softly. The android jumped slightly at this new voice in the room. Slowly, it turned to face you. Its body jolted slightly in an odd way. There must be something wrong with its programming as the android's facial features twisted to make pretty terrifying expressions. You walk into the room a little further, so that you were now passed the kitchen counter. The android was clearly processing the new information of you being here, trying to decide what to do with you.
"Well this is a most pleasant surprise." the android said with quiet laughter. "Can I get you a drink?" it asked as it turned its back to you, grabbing a glass and starting to fill it with water. Now that it no longer faced you, you started to wave your hand at the owner hiding behind the counter. Seeing your signal, she crawled behind you and out of the room. Thankfully the android was far too preoccupied with its new toy, you. At least Connor could check her over and she could give him all of the information he needs for the case. "Here you go" the android chuckled as he held the drink out towards you. Before you could move any closer to it, the android suddenly threw the glass, it narrowly missing you before shattering on the floor. This now confirmed your thought that this android needed to be handled with the upmost caution.
Despite trying not to react to the unpredictable behaviour, your eyes did widen a little in shock. However you remained silent as you stared at the android. Suddenly its face became emotionless. That was one of the problem with androids. They can make their faces completely unreadable. As if it had been reset to factory settings. Still its light continuously flashed. With how frantically it was flashing, you could tell that the android was under extreme stress. Then all of a sudden it stopped and a huge grin spread across its face. Not a grin of happiness but something that put you completely on edge.
"Would you like to play a game little girl?" the android asked whilst staring directly into your eyes. You were in two minds as you could leave at this moment but you needed to somehow approach it to arrest the android. The question itself was rhetorical as it continued to speak. "I bet you'll win. You are such a smart girl aren't you with your grown up job." You did not want to know what the game was but as you took a few steps back, it took more forward and shouted to keep your attention. "The game is Russian roulette!" the android produced a handgun from its pocket and pointed at you, making you instantly freeze on the spot. "This gun only has one bullet but I don't know where it is." he span the gun's chamber. "We'll take it turns. Two turns each. Then we will see who is lucky." You quickly looked around the room, trying to calculate all of the possible exits. "I don't think I would like to play this game. I have to go now anyway." you managed to say as calmly as possible.
"It's too late we're playing it now." the android responded as it pointed the gun at you and pulled the trigger. Click. You let out a breath that you did not know you were holding. As promised, the android held the gun to its head and pulled the trigger. Click. All at once, everything started to move in slow motion. The android slowly pointed the gun at you once more and all you could hear was your heart beating erratically in your chest. You did not want to take the chance but there was no time to run and dodge it. Suddenly a dark flash flew in front of you. It was Connor. He pushed the android's arm into the air as it pulled the gun's trigger. Bang! Before your mind could process what you were witnessing, Connor had tackled the android to ground and cuffed his hands together. Knowing which spot to go for, Connor punched the android and its body instantly went limp.
You stood there in shock, trembling and gasping for air. Without Connor the android would have shot you. Your eyes were fixed on Connor as he stood up and turned to look at you. His usual kind supportive face was now replaced with a cold one. Similar to how he looked when you first met him. He was the android sent by CyberLife with mechanical movements and monotone speech. It used to be the norm but now as Connor stared at you, the sight terrified you. However, there was a growing twinkle in his eyes that you had seen before on rare previous occasions. The familiar glimpse that made him what you thought he always was. Human.
"Thank you" you breathed. "Why on earth did you do that?" Connor scolded as if he was almost spitting the words at you. "Connor the mission was successful." you said reassuringly. Your mind filled with the memories of when completing the mission was the only thing that mattered to Connor. "(Y/N) if the android had pulled the trigger one more time you would have died." he snapped. "But it didn't." you smiled in attempt to make light of the situation. You were by no means the first officer to risk your life on a mission, so why did it matter so much this time. "No! This was one risk too many!" he yelled as he stomped forward, pointing his finger at you. He decided to completely ignore the software instability pop-up that he constantly saw. Sharply you moved backwards until a wall prevented you from moving any further.
Connor just did not understand. How could you have no idea that you were just so fragile... so human. Why couldn't you understand that he felt worried for your welfare? Wait he was worried about you? When did he start feeling things? Sure sometimes he would be a bit scared about your safety or he would admire your smile and laughter. He thought that was just what happened when an android grew closer to the humans around them but today was different.   "You just don't get it (Y/N)! Why don't you get it? "he shouted as he continued walk until he was directly in front of you. "Get what? Connor I know it was dangerous but that is part of the job. The hostage was safe and I took a chance." you argued. You found Connor's serious demeanour imposing. His eyes burned into your own. It was at that moment that you noticed that his LED light continuously flashed frantically. As if he was attempting to process too many thoughts at once or he was having some sort of internal battle with himself. You looked at him in confusion.
"It's just... It's just" Connor growled. Both of his hands quickly grabbed your arms with firm pressure to hold you still. He stared into your eyes, hesitating for a second before suddenly leaning forward and pressing his lips against yours in a passionate kiss. Getting lost in the moment he loosened his grip and wrapped his arms around your waist to pull you closer to him. Your arms flew up as your fingers became entangled in his soft synthetic hair. Unable to help himself, he deepened the kiss. After a moment, despite the initial resistance, you pulled away from each other. Connor's eyes were wide as he raised his hand to his mouth a lightly traced where your lips had just been. Unable to quite believe what he had just done. You quietly giggle breathlessly at his reaction. A smile beamed from your face, which he quickly mirrored. Connor started to open his mouth to explain his actions but before he could he say anything you grabbed his collar, pulling him towards you and pressing your lips onto his once more.

Unable to stay
"(Y/N), Connor, we have to leave now!" Hank ordered as he stomped towards the desk that you were both stood around. You worked for the DPD. Work always seemed to be busy but that's just the way you liked it. You had become close friends with your colleagues. Hank who despite being a little rough around the edges, has a heart of gold. Connor is an android who has come such a long way. He started off with static poses and direct monotone speech. However he now lives in Hank's apartment and the pair of them have formed a sort of father son relationship, which you must admit was kind of cute. The three of you took care of each other and you trusted the duo with your life.
"So what are the details of the case Lieutenant?" Connor asked in the car on the way to the crimescene. "It's a bad one. Multiple murders in one house. The forensics team are still discovering more bodies." Hank sighed. As he continued to read the available data your blood ran cold. It sounded terrible. Sensing your discomfort, Connor unexpectedly put his hand around yours in an attempt to calm your growing fears. You smiled at him in gratitude as it did help a bit. "Connor I want you to analyse the scene. Get as much info as you can. (Y/N) can you focus on piecing together a possible motive. The suspect is believed to be a deviant." Hank said as he glanced at you both in the car mirror. "Ok Lieutenant." you respond trying to not let the slight lingering feeling of worry show. It was so silly. You had been on a lot of cases but it was something about this particular one. Just made you feel uneasy.
Hank opened the car door for you as you stepped out. The building itself was just a house like any other. Well apart from the reams of police tape that surrounded the outside. The neighbourhood looked peaceful enough. Any ordinary person could live here and nothing strange ever happen to them. There was definitely a pattern you found working in the DPD. That it's always the most unsuspecting place that houses the most trouble. "Good luck. This is definitely a nasty one." said one of the policeman that you passed whilst walking through the front garden. Trying to take your mind off of his words you look at Hank and Connor who were a few steps in front of you.
Thinking about it, nothing could have prepared you for what was inside. Walking through the front door of the building, it was the stench that hit you first. The smell of sweat and the metallic of blood, reminders of multiple struggles that had taken place. Sadly all of them ending with the loss of life. You could not help but automatically cover your mouth with your hands as an audible gasp escaped your lips. It was horrific. Blood seemed to be scattered everywhere. Varying in colour depending on when it was put there. You noticed a small spattering of blue in the sea of red. The colour drained from your face when you saw the bodies. Oh those poor people. Lifeless forms in different positions and sporting a variety of wounds. Littering the insides of this once wholesome home. Your stomach flipped as you could only attempt to imagine just what had happened here. For once in your entire career, this was just too much.
Taking a deep breath to steady yourself, you look over at your colleagues. Connor was analysing blood and Hank started inspecting one of the many bodies. No matter how hard you tried, you could not stop tears from forming in the corners of your eyes. You wanted out and you wanted it now. Attempting to seem confident, you walk up to the men. "Sorry guys, something’s come up and I've got to go." Before they could say anything in response, you had already hastily left the room. You left so quickly that you failed to notice Connor's eyes widen with worry as he caught sight of you. Your face pale with watery red eyes, your frame trembling slightly. He did not have enough time to analyse you in an effort to discover what was wrong but he knew that something was definitely not right.
You decided to walk home. Sure your apartment was quite a way away but the fresh air will hopefully clear your mind. You didn't think that you were up for taking a taxi. Taking out your phone, you thought it best to text Captain Fowler. 'An unexpected issue has arisen and I must leave for home immediately. Connor and Anderson are investigating the scene and will present their findings in due course. (Y/N)' Sure it wasn't the most professional thing to do but at this moment you did not really care about the consequences. Pulling out your ear buds you start to listen to some music in an attempt to relax you. Now making you unable to hear Connor calling out your name in the distance.
Detroit was oddly quiet today. The usual hustle and bustle was greatly reduced. Even the sun was out, illuminating the normally grey and groggy city. Relief washed over you as you finally reached your building. Glancing down at your phone whilst climbing the stairs, you saw quite a few unread messages from Connor, Hank and even a message of concern from Captain Fowler. You didn't think that you were quite up to reading them at the moment.
Walking into your apartment you could finally let your internal guard down. Looking at your living room you got flashbacks to that horrendous crime scene. Unable to process how such a horrible thing could happen and right on your front door, in a home very much like your own. Now inside and away from prying eyes of passers-by, you allow tears to roll freely down your cheeks.
Connor had never analysed a crime scene so quickly. He read out his findings so fast that Hank barely had enough time to record them. His speed hastened when he noticed that you had not read any of the messaged he'd sent you. Usually you would respond in ten minutes maximum. The LED like on his face rapidly flashed yellow as he tried to think of the quickest way to finish the investigation. Connor wasn't quite sure what it was. Perhaps a glitch in his programming but he was sure that he was feeling something similar to the human emotion of worry. "Slow down Connor." Hank said as he frustratingly wrote down the final list of notes. The android's eyes impatiently watched him. Were humans always this slow? "Lieutenant, may I leave now please?" Connor asked eagerly. "Go see if (Y/N) is alright. Call if you need anything." Hank sighed. Connor ran down the street, taking the first taxi he could find.
He approached your apartment door. Straightening out his suit as he knocked it. Strangely there was no answer. After knocking it a second time, he got out the spare key that you had given him to use in emergencies. After opening the door, Connor was surprised to find your apartment to be quiet and empty. A quick scan showed that you were in the building somewhere as your works bag was on a side table. Slowly he walked through the rooms so he didn't startle you. He knew that he was going in the right direction as he could hear faint cries coming from your bedroom. The sight in front of him when he entered you'd bedroom could have easily broke his thirium pump in two.
You were sat on the floor, leaning your back against the bed. Your knees pressed up to you, with your face buried into them. The room was silent apart from your quiet sobbing. Not hearing him, you did not even notice Connor enter the room. Cautiously Connor walked up to your shaking form. Busy lost in your thoughts all you could think about was the crime scene from today's case. The image of it permanently projected in your mind. Connor crouched down in front of you. His scans showed that your emotions were completely off the scale, your muscles tense and heartbeat was erratic. "(Y/N)" he whispered. Despite his soft tone, you jumped and could not stop a small scream escaping your lips and you edged backwards slightly. Connor's LED started to frantically flash red not only due to your reaction but also because of the sight of your face. Your cheeks were flushed and stained with tears and your wide eyes were red and watery. The whole of your face had a look of horror and helplessness.
"Connor" you squeaked, a small smile of relief starting to spread across your face. You were surprised at just how happy you were that he was here. That you wouldn't have to spend the afternoon alone with your thoughts. Did he even realise just how much of a difference he makes to your life? As soon as the smile was on your face, it faded away again. "I am so sorry Connor I just couldn't stay in there. The blood, the-the bodies. They were just ordinary people and now they j-just." you bawled, tucking your knees up even closer to your body. Embarrassment flowed through you. What must you look like to Connor right now? Unreliable and useless probably, you couldn't even carry out the mission today. What would he tell Hank and Fowler? If you could not even gather information at a crime scene then he probably wouldn't want to work with you again.
"I can understand if you don't want to work with me anymore. I was a liability today when someone else could have gone on the case and gotten the task done. I couldn't stay in that place any longer. I'm sorry that you have to see me like this." you sobbed. Connor froze as his LED continued to flash wildly. He was trying to process what you were saying. True there was a time when all that mattered was the completion of the mission. However now your welfare seemed to be more important to him and he was confused by this. He cared about you despite your imperfections. You were just so... human.
Connor continued to stare at your shaking figure, a little unsure about what to do. Emotions were not his speciality but he somehow managed to act on instincts that he didn't even know he had. He hesitated slightly before making his mind up and started to creep towards you. Connor sat down beside you and slowly placed an arm over your shoulders. Gently he pulled you towards him so you leant into his side. It was the first time that you had really felt Connor's body. Sure you had occasionally touched his hand be accident handing him paperwork or grabbed his arm to tell him not to do something. This was different. His body was softer than you imagined it would be. It was colder than human body temperature but not unpleasantly so. His torso did rise and fall to mimic breathing every now and then but not constantly. You had to admit that your body heated up a little as you realised how closer you were to him now.
In Connor's arms you felt protected. Unable to stop yourself, fresh tears began to roll down your cheeks once again. Feeling like a fool you spoke a quiet "sorry" in between the sobs. Before he knew what he was doing, Connor raised his hand and started to stroke your hair whilst a soothing "shh" escaped his lips followed by "It's ok". No longer wanting him to see you like this, you lean forward and nuzzle your face into Connor's chest. After his body initially tensed at this unexpected contact, Connor quickly relaxed again and continued to stroke your hair, now with both hands.
Feeling safe, your crying lessened. Lifting your arms, you wrap them around Connor's waist in a tight hug. "Thank you" you whispered as you enjoyed the much needed moment of calm. He didn't know what made him do it. Perhaps a glitch deep in his programming? But Connor leant his face forward and lightly pressed his lips on your forehead.

Don’t go in there!
Silently you stood watching the coffee machine start to boil. It was 5am and you thought that everyone needed a bit of a pick me up, so coffee it is. Despite the early start, your job at the DPD was so rewarding. You loved your job it was exciting, meaningful and with all the people you get to help, totally worthwhile. Luckily you had colleagues that you really got on with. The group that you currently worked with, Lieutenant Hank and an android called Connor, you were lucky enough to call your friends. They had your back and you had yours and that's all you needed.
Finally boiled and poured out you chuckle to yourself. You didn't even like coffee but you made a special effort in making Hank one because an 'I'm so cranky because I woke up too early' Hank is a scary sight. Adding some cookies and a glass of water for yourself to this unhealthy breakfast ensemble, you carry the tray of refreshments into the office before setting it down on the desk. Looking up from the cookie you pick up and start to eat, you gaze at the familiar site. Hank an older man with grey shaggy hair and Connor dressed in the typical suit with his dark hair slicked back. To your surprise Hank was talking on the phone, furrowing his brow and occasionally glancing over at you. Could there really be a case this early?
"I brought breakfast in for everyone. Might not be the healthiest but I think we deserve a treat." you chirped, walking over to the two men. Suddenly Hank slammed the phone down. "Connor, (Y/N), car now! I'll explain the details on the way!" he ordered storming out of the office with both you and Connor trailing behind. The pair of you knew that this incident, whatever it might be, was incredibly serious. It was quickly decided that you and Connor should sit in the back and Hank drove, as you all scrambled into his beat up car.
"So the important details are as follows, an android that goes by the name Jake has taken five people hostage, including his owner. The rest are the owner's friends as they were having a party that lasted into the morning. Police are surrounding the building but no one is allowed to go in. From brief glimpses the suspect is holding a knife as his weapon of choice. The android keeps talking about 'making an example' and that he 'has a point to prove'. Neighbours have said that the android has been showing behaviour that is out of character for just over a week. It has been agreed that (Y/N) will lead this mission. Connor and I will have your back and start to gather evidence outside but (Y/N) I'm afraid that you'll have to go into the building alone to negotiate directly with the suspect." Hank said sadly, almost unable to speak the last two sentences.
Your eyes widened at his words. Go in unaccompanied with an unstable android. It was a risky operation which you weren't entirely sure that you could handle.   "Lieutenant! Allow me to accompany her." Connor objected. There was a forceful tone to his voice that you rarely heard from him.   "Connor it has already been agreed." Hank said trying to close the topic for discussion.   "Lieutenant with the current data there is an 86% probability of failure." Connor pleaded. A shiver ran down your spine. Sure you were nervous but having the odds being presented to you on a plate like that made your stomach turn.   "See, there's still a reasonable chance of success. Besides Connor it has to be her." Hank reasoned.   "Why? (Y/N) is not live bait! Not this time!" Connor asked. You knew that you were good friends with the android but it still surprised you that Connor was getting so worked up about this. Was it because of your safety or the high chance of failing the mission?   "Because this android... likes women." Hank sighed. You grimaced knowing exactly when he meant. Looking out through the the corner of your eye, you noticed that Connor dug his fingernails into the driver's seat in front of him as he clutched onto it with his hands when Hank had said this.
Closing your eyes for a second. You thought about the five hostages in the building. Even if you lost your own life, you'd be saving the lives of many more. This gave you the encouragement to go through with it all. Opening them again, you stared at Connor with pleading eyes. He knew that you had to obey your orders. Hank looked at the pair of you in his car mirror. He found the relationship the two of you have absolutely fascinating. The way that you both interacted with each other. You appeared to be close friends and around you the android seemed to be more... human. Was that even possible? You start to move forward in your seat, ready to leave, when you feel Connor's hand on your arm applying slight pressure to keep you there. His reluctance to let you go made the whole ordeal that much more difficult. Putting on your best reassuring smile, you placed a comforting hand on Connor's should, signalling to him that it would all be ok. Whilst also trying to convince yourself of this too. Taking in a deep breath to steady your nerves, you boldly exit Hank's car.
Walking past the police officers surrounding the area, you opened the front door of the building and gingerly stepped inside. Slowly you stepped into the dimly lit room and tried your best attempt at surveying the current situation. You couldn't help but think of all the details Connor would detect if he was here with you. He'd then be able to create an accurate profile of the android, making it easy to know the right things to say to it. Suddenly you were snapped back to reality as you hear fear stricken cries coming from another room. Continuing to look around, you notice various objects scattered on the floor. A struggle must have taken place. There was something else on the floor something larger. Your blood ran cold as you saw a body in a heap on the ground. Lifeless and secreting blood. It looked like the person had been dead for an hour or so and you had the sinking feeling that it was the android's owner.
It was time to decide how to approach the situation. You could not be certain if the android now knew of your presence or not. Cautiously seemed to be the right way to go. "Hello Jake." you called out softly as you entered the room. The android was stood in the middle of the room clutching a knife a woman's throat. You noticed his grip tighten as he caught sight of you. The three other hostages where cowering in the corner of the room, too frightened to move. Despite the whole situation, it was the android's face that scared you the most. It must be malfunctioning as the LED light on the side of his head was a constant red and his eyes were frantically darting in every direction. There was one thing that was now for certain, you needed to approach him calmly with the greatest patience.
"You're from the police right? So drop the weapon!" he ordered. You paused just for a moment. Should you give up your weapon? Will you gain its trust that way? Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, you place the pistol from your person onto the floor. Your movements were slow and exaggerated. His eyes looked over your body, scanning for any possible details it could detect. "My name is (Y/N). I'm here to help you." you said, trying your best to sound confident. Choosing your words carefully to not trigger him. To your surprise, the android started to laugh. It wasn't the kind of laughter you'd associate with joy because of the sarcastic tone it carried. It made a shiver go up your spine. "Of course you are." he said, practically spitting the words at you. Despite the fear in your stomach that tried to make you look away, you continued to stare at the android. A fake hard exterior visible.   "I know that you have been treated unfairly but there is no need for all of this." you gestured your hand towards the hostages. For a brief second the android's LED flicked yellow before back to red. Progress could be made if you pushed it hard enough but today was going to be a long day.
"Connor, (Y/N) is very good at her job. She'll be fine." Hank said reassuringly. They were in the front garden of the building, surrounded by police. Connor was pacing up and down in what some people would detect as nervousness, whilst he still analysed the scene. His body perked up a little as he heard a feint sound from within. He sneakily attempted to move towards the front door before Hank stopped him but firmly holding his shoulder and shaking his head.   "Lieutenant, she just dropped her gun on the floor. The probability of the mission's failure has just raised by at least 7%. I need to assist her. Please let me assist." Connor asked. There was something is his tone of voice and facial expression that made Hank question whether the success of the mission was the real reason for this sudden urgency.   "You also know that if you barge in there you could compromise the whole situation." Hank sternly replied. He'd been on enough missions to know that brute force was not always the right way to do things and acting on impulse usually led to disaster.
"Come on Jake. Don't you think it's a little crowded in here? You can let these people go." you ask trying to add a layer of playfulness to your voice. The android thought for a moment, considering the notion in his mind.   "But. But they'll just deactivate me!" he cursed. He was absolutely right about that. An android this dangerous has to be deactivated.   "They only want you in for questioning." you lied whilst a kind smile spread across your face, signalling to the android that everything was going to be alright. His red LED turned yellow as he contemplated his options. He stared at you and then his hands before gazing at you once again.   "Fine. They leave but you stay." he pleaded. You nod at him without hesitation. In your eyes the main objective of the mission was to make sure that as many people were safe as possible. Now if the android would just come with you to the police station everything would be dealt with but if only it was that simple. There was a quiet chorus of thank yous as the hostages speedily ran past you and scrambled out of the door. They were met to a buzz of people who were asking them if they were ok. However you noticed that the android still held onto the knife in his hand.
"Judging by your high heart rate and perspiration I know that you are still in a state of shock but is (Y/N) alright?" Connor asked one of the victims as he stopped them from moving towards the ambulance to get checked over.   "Oh, the women who went in there? I think so. She had to drop her gun to the floor and has agreed with the android for her to take our place." breathed the hostage who continued to walk on. Connor froze and his eyes widened. You sacrificed yourself which was incredibly valiant but the amount of danger you had just put yourself in was immense.   "Take it easy." Hank growled at him when he saw the look on Connor's face. Connor chose not to hear Hank's advice as he edged closer to the front door which was now ajar. He stood there to listen and catch glimpses of within. Technically he wasn't disobeying Hank's orders because he was not actually going inside the building.
The room was quiet now with the absence of the hostages. You stared at the android's yellow LED light whilst making sure that you didn't make any sudden movements. The last thing you wanted to do was spook it, especially when taking into account how much progression you had made with it. The android however kept on looking up and down your body with a slightly sinister smirk on its face. You started to feel nervous as the look it was giving you creeped you out but you tried your best not to show it.   "Why don't we walk out walk out of here together?" you ask playfully with a sweet smile. The android looked at you as its LED light started to flicker blue. Your words appeared to be genuine and if anyone could help him, you seemed to be the person who would.
"If you want me, come and get me." the android grins. Every single voice in your mind tells you not to get any closer to him. That the idea that he would come willingly was too good to be true but the android stood his ground and did not budge when you waited for a moment. You took a few steps forward, your body on high alert. Perhaps he would meet you half way?   "You'll have to be closer than that darling." it chuckled, putting you on edge.   Taking in a deep breath to steady your nerves you walk a little further.
Suddenly one of the android's arm raised up high before coming down upon you. You let out a blood curdling scream as pain harshly stabbed into your side. Before you knew what was happening, you fell to the floor. A dark figure flashed in front of your eyes as Connor ran into the room and tackled the android to the floor. Laying on top of him to pin it down, Connor repeatedly punched him until its internal circuits stopped functioning. Pulling up the android's lifeless arms like a ragdoll, Connor quickly handcuffed him, restraining its movements when it woke up again. Whenever that would be.
Connor rushed over and knelt down in front of you. The LED light on the side of his head flashing a bright red. His systems running scans on you. Your body was weak. The stab wound to your side was prominent because of the blood that poured out of it.   "No" he said repeatedly as if the word was on a constant loop, until his voice was reduced to a whisper. "At least everyone is safe now." you mumble as your body trembled. Connor looks down at your wound, trying to decide on the best way to treat it. Your eyes start to follow his.   "Hey, keep your eyes on me." he said softly as the corners of his lips turned up into a smile when your eyes met his. Damn your injury must be worse than you thought.
Alerted by your scream, Hank runs into the room, jumping slightly at the sight before him. "Shit. We need medical assistance! Now!" he yelled before running out of the room to grab the first paramedic he sees. "C-C-Connor... It hurts... So much." you stutter.   "I know." he said glumly looking at the wound before staring into your eyes again so he knew that he had your full attention. "I need to lessen the bleeding a bit but it's going to hurt... quite a lot."   You shakily nod in response. You look into Connor's dark eyes. Those kind eyes that always looked after you. They were the perfect distraction for what was about to come next. Taking one of his hands, he pushed against the wound with firm pressure. Your eyes suddenly widened as a shriek escaped your lips. You were unable to stop the tears rolling down your cheeks. Crying out, you start to claw at Connor's sleeve but the force of his hand did not falter. The pain was unbearable. Connor looked down at the ground as the current sight of you broke his artificial heart. Your mind began to go fuzzy and you could not stop your eyelids from closing.
Your eyes slowly started to peel open and they were instantly hit by bright white surroundings. The constant beep of a heart monitor gradually became louder. The pain that you expected in your side was dulled by various medication. Your blurry vision cleared as a smile spread on your face at the sight you were greeted with. Hank was asleep on a chair in the corner of the room. However sat next to you in a chair was Connor. He held one of your hands in his as he looked down at the bed with an expression of pure sadness.
"My hero." you giggled weakly. His head snapped round to look at you. Connor's eyes lit up as a huge grin spread across his face. You could see the excitement of you finally being awake building up inside him. Holding your arms out and leaning towards him despite the growing pain, you scooped Connor into a hug that you both longed for. Not quite believing that this was happening you bury your face in the crook of his neck slightly. Connor wasn't sure exactly what it was. Perhaps a glitch in his systems? Or the happiness that overwhelmed him. But he instinctively pressed his lips on your forehead as he clung to you tightly.

Requested by mixgoldenphoenix :  Connor being forced to go on a beach 'vacation' with Hank and running into Reader while there. *nod*

(Gif not mine but writing is)
A Day in the Sun
"Lieutenant, I do not entirely agree with this idea. It is completely illogical." said a displeased Connor, looking at Hank as they walked side by side. "It would be much more beneficial if I stay in the office to complete all outstanding paperwork."
Hank continued to face forward as if he was intentionally ignoring the android, before replying with a sigh.
"Everyone is entitled to a little holiday from work. It's just annoying that we had to force you to take yours. Besides, it's nice to have a break. Nobody wants your systems overheating and crapping out on us due to exhaustion." He smiled in his best effort to make light of the entire situation. If he was stuck with a frustrated android all day, it was better to attempt to make Connor see the logic behind the little trip.
The pair of them were slowly strolling along the beach a little way away from their office because Hank suggested that 'nothing says vacation like going to the beach.' It was true that a lot of effort was put into convincing Connor to take a day off work. But it was agreed by everyone that no matter how much he hated the idea, it was the perfect way to rest his internal systems whilst gently expanding his mind to new experiences. It wasn't the weekend so the beach front was not particularly busy, despite the great weather. However, the odd passer-by would still stop and stare at the sight of what seemed to be a human taking their android for a walk.
"I don't understand why I have to wear this." Connor mumbled whilst looking down at his outfit for the day. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt, dark baggy shorts and a pair of sneakers. It was almost far too casual for him to bare.
"Look around Connor. Do you see anyone wearing a suit and tie at the beach on this boiling hot day?" Hank asked. After quickly surveying the surrounding area, Connor shook his head in response. "Connor... just enjoy the damn day." he sighed. As Connor continued to look around, he couldn't help but notice that the people were so carefree here. They could somehow let everything go and just relax, forgetting all of their personal worries. The whole concept baffled him.
Finally, you thought to yourself. A day where you can just kick back and relax. Taking a day off was the perfect idea as things at work had been getting a little crazy lately. There was your part time job and then the freelance work that you did with the DPD on top. Well the DPD work was a lot more self-indulgent for you. Ever since you were little you were inspired by the literary character Sherlock Holmes. His character had always been so intriguing to you. The man who would not let things like sentiment get in the way of solving a mystery. Despite being fictional, he was still the perfect crime fighting machine in your eyes. It helped that you'd also made friends with people at the DPD. Hank and Connor. Despite being an android, Connor has come such a long way. You'd been told that he now even shared Hank's apartment. The pair were always kind and welcoming to you, even though Hank was a little rough around the edges.
You continued to walk along the seafront, completely carefree. Basking is the warm glow of the sun as your sandals slowly sank into the golden sand with every step you took. Looking at your outfit, you were glad that you had applied two layers of sunscreen this morning. Your bathing costume was pretty standard and the fabric clung to your figure. A sarong was tied around your waist, extenuating your hips slightly. You needed it to cover your legs up a little. Despite being a bit self-conscious however, it did feel nice to shed your work clothes for once.
Looking around, you were amazed at the lack of people around you. It was definitely the right day to be at the beach. If it was the weekend it would be packed with families building sandcastles, paddling in the sea and slowly turning burnt red in the sun. However at the moment there was hardly anyone. Some dog walkers, a couple strolling hand in hand, a young and old guy talking to each other as they walk in your direction. Wait a minute. The slicked back dark hair of the young man and the longer shaggy grey hair of the old one were instantly recognisable.
Luckily they were both lost in conversation, which gave you the perfect opportunity to quietly walk towards them without them noticing you. "Hello Hank and Connor. Its great to see you!" you beamed with a big smile on your face as you stopped in front of them. The pair of them jumped slightly. You had to bite your lips to suppress a laugh from escaping as you notice that Hank is wearing an obligatory holiday Hawaiian shirt. With that and Connor's outfit, the duo looked almost looked unrecognisable.
"Good morning Miss (Y/L/N)" said Connor in a more enthusiastic tone compared to his usual monotone one.
"Hey (Y/N) how are ya? Fancy seeing you here. Have you taken a day off too?" added Hank with a chuckle.
"Yes. Work has been so hectic lately, I just needed to rest up a bit and go back tomorrow all guns blazing. Also I just couldn't stay in on a gorgeous day like today even thoug-" you abruptly stopped talking at the distracting sight in front of you. The LED light on the side of Connor's head frantically flickered yellow as he looked up and down at you. Unable to process how different you looked. Your hair was free and your attire was form fitting. His gaze upon you made a light blush fill your cheeks in embarrassment. It was only when Hank elbowed Connor in the side that he finally stopped staring.
"Would you like to join us?" Connor asked in an attempt to make the current situation less awkward. Also he thought it would be perfect to spend the day with his two favourite humans.
"I would love to. Only if it's ok with you both." you reply as your eyes darted to Hank who nodded in response. A smile started to spread across your face, which was quickly mirrored by the two men.
"Why don't I go an buy us an ice cream? You stay here with tin man and I'll be back in a minute." said Hank.
"Shouldn't I come with you to buy my ow-" you started to protest before you were cut off by Hank. "My treat. Think of it as a shitty way of me saying thank you for all of the work you've done for us recently." With that he walked away.
You laughed a little at how abruptly Hank had finished the conversation as you walked towards the sea before sitting down on the warm sand. It surprised you when Connor didn't copy your actions. You looked up to find him standing whilst looking down at you, confused at what he should do with himself. Moving your hand, you lightly pat the ground next to you, signalling for him to sit down next to you. Which he now did. The pair of you looked at each other, politely smiling as you did so.
"How are you enjoying your vacation?" you ask whilst tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"It is adequate, though I was reluctant to take it." he replied sternly.
"I can imagine that." you laughed.
At times you could be nervous talking to people but from the day you first met Connor, he instantly put your mind at ease. He didn't judge people like humans do.
You looked out to the seemingly endless ocean before gazing back at the android once more. Connor had always intrigued you. What must it be like to be so static and rigid, then to all of a sudden start to feel things for the first time? Not just emotions but also the simple pleasures in life.
"Have you liked the experience of going to the beach?" you asked in curiosity.
"It is satisfactory." he replied bluntly. You look at him puzzled, remembering the amazement you felt as a child when your parents took you on trips out to the beach, which is still a feeling you carried with you now. An idea suddenly popped into your head.
"But have you really experienced it?" you questioned him again.
Connor stared passed you and off into the distance. The LED light in his head flickering as he tried to understand what you were saying. The sentence itself made sense but the context you were putting it in really didn't. He was here at the beach so he must be experiencing it, right?
When he didn't answer, you honestly thought you had broken him. "Connor?" relief washed over you when his head turned back round to face yours. "Let me show you what I mean. Close your eyes and be still." you instructed. He quickly complied. The sunny scene was now dark and his operating systems were now running somewhere in the background. To his surprise, his other senses heightened and he started to pick up on the tiniest details. The light breeze that delicately caressed his face, the constant sound of waves gently crashing into the shore. The distant murmur of laughter as people went about their lives. His surroundings were somewhat idyllic. Very different from his daily life of violence and corruption. Joy filled your body as you saw the corners of Connor's lips turn up into a smile. "So this is what the beach is like." he whispered.
Connor's eyes snapped open as the familiar form of Hank sat down beside him. In one hand he was holding a plain vanilla ice cream filled cone but in the other was a cone filled with vanilla ice cream topped with sauce and an assortment of sprinkles, which he held out to you.
"Is this better than just a shitty way of saying thank you?" Hank chuckled.
"Definitely!" you replied whilst taking the treat filled cone from him. Smiling at the two men and then staring at your sugar filled ice cream you could not help but burst out laughing. What a perfect way to spend your day off.

Gaming Weekend
Slowly your eyelids opened as the morning sunlight beamed through your bedroom window. Lazily you stretched your body as far as you could under the bed sheets before sitting up, ready to start the day. About to fully submerge back under the duvet, you remembered what day it was. True it was Saturday but this was not just any weekend. Practically jumping out of bed, you rummage through your closet. What to wear? Something casual but kind of smart? You weren't entirely sure why but you felt the need to look at least presentable but not in the trying so hard kind of way. Well you couldn't go wrong with one of your favourite shirts and jeans. It looked good but was also super comfy.
Smiling at your outfit choice, excitement began to flow through you. This weekend Michael was staying. You had known him for most of your life. He was in your brother's year at school and the pair were practically inseparable. The weekend was bound to be filled to the brim with video games, geeking out and the three of you barely leaving your basement. Growing up with Jeremy as your brother, it was impossible for you not to catch the gaming bug. It was hilarious when you were younger and beat him at a multilayer game because he would mysteriously not play that game anymore. You hadn't seen Michael for a while and why would you? Jeremy was his best friend, not you. Sometimes it was a struggle but you needed to remember that. Had it really been that long since you last saw him? It sure felt like it was. It was annoying to know that Jeremy frequently went to Michael's house to play games or just hang out. You get that they travelled straight from school but still. You had no idea that you were actually invited to these game nights by Michael but Jeremy always forgot to pass the message on to you. He would only remember when Michael asked where you were.
Walking down the hallway you shut your eyes tightly in embarrassment as a flash of leg appeared in view.  "Dad, please put some pants on. Just once." you grimaced, opening your eyes again.
"Aw, come on (Y/N) you see this every day." your father protested.
"Just because I see it every day, doesn't mean that I want to." you replied, making your dad laugh as he walked passed you. Quietly you crept down into the basement. It was obvious that it hadn't been used for quite a long time as video games were scattered across the floor in addition to other mess that covered the room. Quickly you tidied it so it at least looked presentable. You also stocked the table top with various snacks and drinks that you had carried down from your kitchen. Knowing your brother, he probably would have just left it how it was.
After finishing getting ready, you sit in the lounge, watching Jeremy eating his breakfast. His head bent down so you could only see his mop of messy brown hair in his half asleep state. "So, when is Michael meant to get here?" you say nonchalantly, picking up a newspaper in an attempt to make yourself look busy and uninterested. The truth was that no matter how much you tried to distract yourself, Michael's arrival was all you could think about. You could see Jeremy shrug his shoulders in response to your question. Patiently waiting, your eyes continue to read the day's headlines.
You were so engrossed with the paper that you almost didn't hear the doorbell. Thinking it was best not to appear so eager, you continue to sit in your seat as Jeremy stood up to open the door.
"Jeremy my buddy." said Michael as he and Jeremy tapped their hands, arms and legs together in their secret handshake. Jeremy stood aside so he could step in through the doorway. "Where is she?" Michael mumbled as his eyes frantically scanned the room for you. "Michael" you beamed, walking into the room.
"Little Heere!" he exclaimed opening his arms wide. The old nickname was laughable now as you were pretty much the same height as him. Eagerly you jogged up to him as he scooped you up into a hug. Pulling away, you were happy to see that Michael had the same big goofy smile on his face that mirrored your own. It really had been too long. However to your surprise, he still looked the same with his dark gravity defying hair and his red hoodie which seemed to have gained a couple of new badges since you saw him last.
Your brother led the way to the basement. "Excuse the mess. I haven't had the chance to clean up and-" Jeremy started before looking around the room that you had tidied up this morning. Staring at it in silence. "Thanks (Y/N)" Michael chuckled as the pair of you walked into the room with Jeremy trailing behind with a confused expression still etched on his face.
"Why don't we start with a classic" Jeremy said as he plugged in an old game console before sitting on the couch. You sat on the floor despite Michael offering you a seat. He gave up when you insisted that he was a guest and therefore should sit comfortably. The three of you took it in turns to play the game as you all got through the refreshments. Hours passed as you were glued to the screen. It was only when you reached over to grab a handful of chips to find that there was none that you snapped back to reality.
"Be right back" you say standing up to head upstairs. Silently giggling as the boys simply nodded in acknowledgement. In all honesty it was nice to just stretch your legs. Now out of the basement, you took it as an opportunity to check on your father. He seemed ok despite still not managing to put on a pair of pants. You made him a cup of coffee before returning back to the stuffy basement with arms filled with food. Looking at the TV you saw that they had just finished playing a game.
"Move over J" you say, squeezing in between the two boys on the couch. "So, what are you playing now?" Jeremy looked at Michael and then back at you. Your brother's expression made it look like you could practically see the cogs turning in his mind.
"Why don't we all play Mario Kart together?" he suggested whilst not looking directly in your eyes. Michael's face fell a little at the suggestion as the realisation dawned on him. You were brilliant at Mario Kart and you very rarely lost. So ever since you were children your brother would let you play Mario Kart because you would win all the time. It was always a way of making you happy before Jeremy would play the next game with Michael alone. So whenever he suggested Mario Kart you knew it would be the last game you played that night. A part of you thought that maybe tonight would be different, that you would all take turns playing games equally but no, it was just the same as always. You couldn't help but let out a sigh, which made your brother finally look at you.
"(Y/N) I know that you haven't seen Michael for a while but there's this new expansion and we need to try it out before anyone else does." Jeremy said apologetically. Sure you were siblings but when it came to gaming especially with new games, Michael always had first dibs. Anyway it was ok as there was still tomorrow.
"It's ok." you reply with a reassuring smile. "Boys prepare to have your butts kicked!" you exclaimed, making the pair of them laugh.
You played a healthy amount of rounds of Mario Kart before you finally stopped as Jeremy was practically bursting out of his seat to play the new expansion.
"You can always take my controller if you want." Michael said whilst Jeremy was changing over the consoles. His words had taken you completely by surprise. Never in all of the years that you had known him had he offered up the chance for him to play a brand new game.
"Th-thank you. I-I think J-Jeremy really wanted you to play it." you stuttered quickly turning your face away as you felt it get hotter. What on earth was wrong with you? It was just Michael.
The game they were playing was full of zombies, the graphics were amazing but sadly the story was a little boring. The levels had endless waves of zombies that the boys had to plough through. Their eyes constantly stared at the screen and all that could be heard was the constant tapping of fingers pressing the controller buttons. You don't remember how many levels had been played but you must have been sat there for a long time as you started to feel uncomfortable. Sitting up, you readjust your clothes before relaxing back into the couch once more. You still didn't feel cozy enough, it's like you needed a cushion or wait. You had an idea, I mean surely they wouldn't mind. Slowly you leant to the side and your head gently rested on Michael's shoulder. Briefly he looked down at you, a small smile creeping across his face before his gaze returned to the screen.
You weren't quite sure what it was, the warmth of Michael in his hoodie that you gently nuzzled into or the dark gameplay on the screen. Whatever it was you were completely unable to stop your eyelids from slowly closing before you drifted off to sleep. Something that did not go unnoticed by Michael. Luckily Jeremy was too engrossed in the game to notice the blush that filled Michael's face as he glanced at your peacefully sleeping form.
After playing a couple more rounds Michael said "Hey I think your sister has the right idea. We should call it a night." Jeremy paused the game and chuckled when he caught sight of you.
"Yeah, I don't feel so great now anyway. Probably been staring at the screen for too long." he said whilst stretching his arms and legs out. He then froze in realisation. "Oh but you usually crash on the couch down here. I'll move (Y/N) so she goes to bed." Jeremy said whilst pulling blankets out from under the table. "Don't sweat it. You head on up and I'll wake her up. Your voice isn't sounding so good." Michael replied. Jeremy lifted a hand in acknowledgement as he walked up the stairs.
Michael then thought about the matter at hand. It seemed such a shame that he had to wake you. Maybe he didn't have to. Perhaps the two of you could stay here like this. You were adorable. Wait what was he thinking? You was also his best friend's sister. Slowly Michael sat up and began to move off of the sofa. It surprised him when despite being asleep you reached out and grabbed one his arms before pulling it back towards you. Letting out a quiet moan as you did so, frustrated by the sudden loss of warmth and comfort. A small chuckle escaping Michael's lips whilst you grew still again as you cuddled the sleeve of his hoodie. It was making the whole situation a lot more difficult for him. Lifting his other arm he placed his hand on one of yours. Gently he started to stroke it with his thumb.
"(Y/N)" he called softly. Your eyes started to open lazily.
"Mmm?" was all you could respond with in your sleepy state.
"We thought that you might find your own bed more comfortable than this old couch and you would probably get a better night sleep." he whispered.
"Oh, ok" you replied groggily as you started to stand up. You unsteadily wandered up the stairs with half opened eyes. Michael's laughter could be heard in the distance. It was one of the cutest things he had ever seen.
You had woken up earlier than expected. Probably due to the excitement of Michael staying the weekend. After eagerly getting dressed, you get ready and head towards the kitchen. Freezing when you get there.
"Dad! Pants! Come on we have a guest." you pleaded to your father who yet again was wearing a shirt, underpants and a robe that he never seemed to tie closed. Who started to chuckle as he walked towards you holding his morning coffee.
"Oh honey. It's nothing that Michael hasn't seen before." he replied whilst booping you on the nose before walking off.  Rolling your eyes you start to look through the kitchen cupboards. You figured that seeing as you were the first one awake, then you should make breakfast. Besides the boys will probably already be awake. Guests should be first as you poured out a drink. It might have been a while but you still remember what Michael's favourite was. Gathering it together, you placed his breakfast on a tray before carefully carrying it towards the basement.
As you descend the staircase that led into the basement there was no sign of movement. Approaching the couch your initial worry melted away as you could hear quiet snores. Gently you placed the tray on the table, trying not to make any noise. Looking up, you couldn't help but stare at Michael. He was asleep on his front, sprawled across the couch. His bare legs poking out from underneath the blanket as they hung over the edge. His glasses were on the table. It had been so long since you had seen him without them on his face. You'd forgotten how cute he looked. Shaking your head a little to get rid of the thought in your mind, you return back upstairs.
Walking into the kitchen you spot Jeremy devouring his breakfast, so you sit opposite him to eat your own. His face was pale yet very flushed and dark circles framed his eyes. He looked terrible. "Are you ok?" you asked despite already knowing the answer. He just shot you an icy glare. Your eyes looked down to your breakfast as you both continued to eat in silence. The pair of you jumped slightly as a new person entered the room.
"Hey Heere and Heere. (Y/N) thanks for the breakfast, it was delicious." said a now clothed Michael. "Don't come too close. I'm really unwell." Jeremy's voice was hoarse and weak. "Sorry dude but I think I'm going to go back to bed." Carefully he stood up and started to stagger out of the room.
"J catch!" you called throwing items over to him. He looked down to see a pack of painkillers and a box of tissues in his hands. "If you need anything just let me know. Try and get some rest." After an exchange of smiles, Jeremy continued to walk out of the room.
You weren't sure why but you felt a bit guilty. Jeremy was just as excited for this weekend as you were.
"So what video game would you like to play first?" Michael asked putting an arm around your shoulders. Your worry melted away as a giggle escaped your lips. He always knew how to lighten the mood. "Ok but first we need supplies." you laughed. You gathered handfuls of snacks and Michael helped by carrying drinks into the basement. At first you were unsure of what to do, Jeremy always took control and picked the games. Now you had Michael all to yourself and it would definitely make up for all of those gaming nights that you had missed.
"Let's warm up with a classic." you say whilst pushing a Sonic 2 game cartridge into an old Sega console before relaxing into the couch. It was one of your favourite games from your childhood. The bright colours and easy controls brought on a wave of nostalgia. Laughter filled the basement whenever one of you lost a life. After playing a lot of levels, you decided to stop for a snack break.
"You can choose the next game if you like." you say as you catch Michael laughing under his breath at you stuffing your face full of chips. Changing the console you hear him humming as he decides which disc to put in. Returning to the couch, you were slightly unnerved by the huge grin that he had spread across his face. All became clear when the game's title illuminated the screen. 'Tekken'. He couldn't help but stare at you smugly as your face fell a little.
"Nervous?" he smirked.
"Oh it's on Mell." you smiled with burning eyes, your competitive streak on full display.
"Really? Because I recall that I have learnt every character's move set and you always just mash the buttons together. How can you possibly win?" he questioned.
"Oh, I have my ways." you reply, causing Michael to raise an inquisitive eyebrow. The pair of you chose your characters and played a few rounds. His eyes kept darting in your direction to see what you would do.
You continued to play and Michael was right, you were losing most of the fights against him. However, that was all about to change.
"I wanna be the very best... Like no one's ever was." you started to sing, a mischievous grin plastered on your face.
"Wait is that?" Michael interjected. Despite him starting to get distracted, you carried on as if nothing was happening.
"To catch them is my real test..." you continued. The truth was that Michael was just as big of a Pokémon fan as you. You singing the theme tune but not finishing it would tear him up inside. The silence became awkwardly long and you knew that he'd have to sing the next line sometime, despite trying his best not to.
"To train them is my cause." he added. That moment of absent-mindedness was his downfall as your character delivered a finishing blow, knocking Michael's to the ground. He stared at you with burning eyes as you tried your best to look innocent. This game just got serious.
The singing went up a level when Michael decided to lightly jab you in the side with his elbow, successfully making you press the wrong button on your controller. A playful growl emanated from your throat as you started to jab his side in retaliation. This went on back and forth for some time until you decided to crank it up a notch. You weren't entirely sure what his reaction would be but you needed to stop him from kicking your butt. Looking at him, you could see he was completely engrossed in the game. His tongue poked out of his mouth slightly in concentration. It was now or never. Gathering all of your courage, you leant over to him and mashed the buttons on his controller, resulting in his character being knocked out.
Michael's mouth opened and was left ajar in shock. He paused the game and set the controller on the table.
"No way" he said in disbelief, staring at you. You looked at him, nervous by his reaction. The nerves faded away as he started to smile playfully.
"I told you I would win." you smiled triumphantly.  Michael continued to stare at you for a minute until he made up his mind. He had no choice. He'd have to sort the whole thing out the old-fashioned way. You instantly recognised the look in his eye. Vividly remembering it from your childhood. Quickly you attempted to defend yourself but it was too late.
Knowing from previous experience which spots to go for, Michael started to tickle you. Instantly your body laid down on the couch, your arms and legs began to flail in attempt to get him to stop but it was no use. You were just too ticklish. Michael hovered over you, preventing any means of escape. The only retaliation you had was trying to tickle him as well but his hoodie worked as an impressive shield.
"Michael! Please!" you said whilst giggling. The sound of both yours and Michael's laughter loudly rang throughout the basement. Somehow you finally found a way to push his hands away. Your sides hurt from laughing so hard. After managing to get your breath back you looked at Michael who was also breathing heavily.
Michael chuckled thinking that he had won but you stared at him, snickering as you did so. "Is that all you've got Mell? Do your worst." You were not going to be outdone despite being now flustered.
"Maybe I will." he smirked. Before he knew what he was doing, Michael leant forward and lightly pressed his lips onto yours. It was as if something that you both had always wanted finally happened. Suddenly everything clicked. It felt so right, even though it probably shouldn't have been. A truly perfect moment. It ended just as soon as it had started. Michael quickly moved away as his body tensed up and his eyes grew wide in realisation of what he'd just done. The boundary of friendship had officially been crossed. Michael was pretty certain that Jeremy would kill him. The pair of you stared at each other's equally scarlet faces.
You quietly giggled to cut the tension. Though he still looked worried, his brain rapidly thinking about all of the possible consequences of his actions. You continued to stare into his eyes, trying your best not to get completely lost in them.
"I said is that all you got?" you asked whilst biting your lip slightly to signal to Michael that it was ok. Seizing the moment, you pulled the collar of his hoodie towards you and your lips crashed onto his once more. Michael's fingers tangled into your hair as he passionately kissed you back.
"(Y/N) we're out of-" said a familiar voice that came from somewhere behind the sofa. Abruptly, they stopped talking as they gasped in shock.
Suddenly you felt Michael's body jump as well as your own. Quickly you parted your lips from one another. Panting as you stared into each other’s eyes. The both of you too nervous to turn around to look at a very shocked Jeremy who was frozen to the spot, shakily clutching an empty box of tissues.

The Perfect Valentine’s Date
You began to lean back in your chair, staring at the clock on the wall. Surely your teacher could not find anything more to say about the last mathematical equation he wrote on the board. Finally the school bell rang and you quickly gathered your books and pencil case and shoved them into your bag. “That lesson felt like it would never end, didn’t it (Y/N).” said a familiar voice in front of you. Looking up you saw the tall messy brown haired, striped shirt figure of Jeremy Heere. “Hey, didn’t you know it is the most important equation in the history of forever?” you giggled in a voice that mimicked your teacher, which made Jeremy laugh. “Oh… (Y/N)… You have left tonight free haven’t you?” he asked before realising what he had done when you tilted your head slightly to the side in response. “Shh Jeremy” said his girlfriend Christine as she jabbed him in his side with her elbow to stop him talking. Promptly, the pair of them said their goodbyes before walking out of the classroom.
The whole situation had sparked your curiosity. It was Valentine’s Day after all and you were hoping that it would be the first one that you did not spend alone. You have a boyfriend that you have been going out with for a couple of weeks. You had not really been on proper dates yet but you hung out at each other’s houses. For months you had admired him from afar. A lot of other students find him geeky but to you he was perfection. Even the mention of his name, Michael Mell, would make a soft shade of pink appear on your cheeks. But still there was the question of Jeremy’s comment. Jeremy and Michael have been best friends since forever. You were sure that there was not one tiny piece of information that one did not know about the other. Also why was Christine so quick to shut him up? Silently you shrugged your shoulders before picking up your bag and leaving the classroom.
The busy hallway was lined with couples kissing and talking about what a great time they’ll be having tonight. It was sickeningly sweet, even for Valentine’s Day. Unlocking your locker, you rearrange the items that you needed to take home with you. To your surprise, there was a note at the bottom of your locker. Gently you picked it up examined it. One side had a picture of a pokeball and other had handwriting which you instantly recognised. ‘For Valentine’s Day I choose you! Today’s adventure begins at 6pm. Love from M&M’ You could not help the huge goofy smile that began to spread across your face. Your suspicions were right. Your boyfriend had actually planned something for today. Like, he actually took the time to plan something. You had to admit that the note was beyond cute as you carefully placed it into your bag. Bouncing with joy, you left through the school door.
The walk home gave your mind the chance to wander and think about tonight. Where were you going? What were you going to do? What should you wear? The possibilities were endless. “Mom, Dad, I’m home.” you call whilst opening your front door. “Hi sweetheart. How was your day?” your Mom asked as you walked into the kitchen. The smell of food hitting you instantly. “It was pretty good. Though I thought that my math teacher would never stop talking about his precious equations. Dinner smells so good. Can I grab a plate? I kind of have plans later on tonight.” you say adding the last sentence quietly. “No can do (Y/N). We’re under strict instructions from a certain young man. Speaking of which, shouldn’t you be getting ready? Oh and before you ask, the only hint that he gave was 'fancy’.” your mother replied with a wink. There was no point in attempting to argue because you knew that she was right. Quickly you dragged your schoolbag up the stairs before chucking it on your bedroom floor.
Opening your closet, you perused at the selection of clothes. Now what should you wear? You had no idea where you were going. Going by what your Mom said, you should probably dress smartly. You scanned the contents of your closet once more before your eyes fell upon the perfect outfit. It was a dark purple dress which cut off just below the knee, paired with a black jacket it would look smart but casual. After getting changed, you fixed your hair and put on your makeup. Turning around on the spot, you looked at yourself in the mirror to make sure that you were happy with your appearance. You just really hoped that Michael liked it too. Before you knew it, the doorbell rang. Well you guess that it was now or never. Sprinting down the stairs, you eagerly open the door. The sight you saw nearly shocked you.
The boy stood in front of you was barely recognisable. Michael stood there in a black shirt, trousers and dinner jacket. His hair in its usual gravity defying style however he had a new addition of a black bandana wrapped around the top of his forehead. You always thought that he was cute but now he looked more gorgeous than ever. Michael stared at you with wide eyes, his mouth slightly ajar as if he couldn’t believe the sight that was in front of him. He continuously looked up and down at your body, he really could not help himself. Your dress clung to your figure perfectly and your hair and makeup accentuated your natural beauty. You were beyond perfection in his eyes. Before you knew it, both yours and Michael’s cheeks turned a shade of red. “Michael” you say excitedly before pulling him into a hug, abruptly snapping him back into reality. “Your chariot awaits my lady” he chuckled as he moved his arm towards the general direction of his car. “Have fun sweetie.” your Dad called as he stood next to your Mom in the doorway. He closed the door as you waved in response before taking Michael’s hand as he led you to his car.
Being the perfect gentleman, he opened the car door for you. You looked around the inside of Michael’s PT Cruiser as he sat next to you. Had he actually tidied up the interior of his car? You noticed that there were not the usual slushie cups scattered on the floor or the pile of video games stacked up underneath the seat. “Where to Mell?” you asked as he turned on the ignition. “It’s a surprise.” he replied with a hint of nerves in his voice. Staring out the window, the blur of the city streets were glowing by the light of the setting sun. You couldn’t help but notice that Michael kept glancing at the clock in the car, constantly checking the time. He didn’t want to be late for something that was for sure. Before you knew it, he was parking the car and opening the door for you again.
You couldn’t help but let out a gasp when you saw where you were. It was one of the fanciest restaurants in town. Michael smiled as he watched your reaction. He didn’t know how, but your eyes appeared to sparkle even more than usual. “But how did you?” you asked in confusion. This place was impossible to get a reservation. “Oh I have my ways… Let’s go in.” he answered with a nervous smile despite trying to sound confident. You grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze.
Inside the restaurant was filled with lavish furniture and the most luxurious decoration. It was busy which was to be expected seeing as it was Valentine’s Day. Still holding his hand, you followed Michael up to the counter. The guy behind it wore a suit and raised an eyebrow when he saw the pair of you stood in front of him. “May I help you sir?” he asked with a fake posh sounding tone to his voice. “Good evening, I have a reservation. A table for two under the name Mr Mell.” said Michael coolly. “I’m sorry Sir but I don’t seem to have a reservation under that name.” “What? There must be some mistake. I booked a table weeks ago. Please can you look again? The name was Michael Mell.” he replied and you could start to feel his hand get slightly sweaty as it held onto yours. The assistant sighed before looking at the list and glancing around the room. “I’m sorry sir but I cannot find that name. The closest I have is a Michael Bell. I can see that perhaps it could be a mistake, perhaps not. Seeing as it’s clear that you and the young lady have made a lot of effort and I spot a spare table. Perhaps I could squeeze you in” the assistant says before clearing his throat. “for a small last minute reservation fee.” Michael started to frown. He couldn’t believe it. A small growl emanated from his throat. You could see his frustration, not only at the clear name mix up but also that the guy had the cheek to ask for a bribe. However it took both men by surprise when you quickly reached into your purse and slid the assistant some money. You didn’t want anything to ruin Michael’s plans. “If you would be so kind.” you smiled at the assistant as he then lead you both to a table.
The table you were assigned was in a darkened corner next to the customer toilets. Not exactly the most romantic spot in the restaurant but it will do. “Alone at last.” you grin in an attempt to lighten the mood. Thankfully it worked as the edges of Michael’s mouth curled up into a smile. You could see the slight frustration in his eyes about the misunderstanding with the assistant but it melted away as he remembered that as long as he was with you it really did not matter. The pair of you began to browse the menu. Your eyes could not help but focus on the prices. Everything seemed so needlessly expensive. You noticed that Michael’s eyes kept on flickering from the menu to your face. Little did you know that there was a look of concentration on your face, making it obvious to him that you were looking at the prices rather than the meal choices. “Choose whatever you like. It is my treat.” he smiled. You frowned and opened your mouth to protest before he repeated “my treat”. His treat or not, you were still going to order the cheapest things on the menu.
After you had both decided what to order you patiently waited for service. Time passed and despite Michael frantically waving at one point, a waiter did not walk over to you. Scanning the room for staff your eyes focused on Michael who had a worried expression on his face and beads of sweat started to form on his brow. Your first proper date and he felt like he had already failed you. You thought hard for minute and weighed up your options before you suddenly slipped your jacket back on and stood up out of your chair. Michael froze with a look of confusion. You reached an arm towards him and grabbed his hand. “I am not going to waste my Valentine’s Day with the cutest and sweetest guy by waiting for this restaurant’s crappy service.” you declared loudly with a triumphant smirk as you led Michael out of the building. He was still in shock at your actions as he quietly asked" Y-you think I’m cute?“ "The cutest” you giggled as you kissed his cheek, making him blush. “Come on, I have an idea.” you grinned as you continued to walk with him, hand in hand.
There was something almost magical about walking the usually familiar streets at night. As if the darkness added a sense of mystery to the city. However when you turned the next corner a concoction of bright lights and comforting sounds hit the pair of you. You couldn’t help but stare at Michael’s face as a huge grin speak across it, making a feeling of warmth flow through you. He knew where he was. Slowly, he turned to you almost speechless. His words coming out as a series of incoherent noises. “What better way is there to spend Valentine’s Day?” you beamed with excitement. You were stood outside the arcade, which you knew was one of Michael’s favourite haunts.
You were both like excited puppies running around to pick which game to play. “What about this?” you ask with a mischievous smirk. Michael raised an inquisitive eyebrow as he spotted the Dance Dance Revolution game in front of you. “Fine but just so you know, I am the current champion.” he announced smugly. “Oh it’s on Mell.” you competitively replied. You had never seen anyone move quite like how Michael did. Despite your best efforts, he beat you fair and square. The crazy dancing has resulted in the both of you having a complete laughing fit where you couldn’t help but gasp for air before laughing harder. Looking around the room you suddenly went very shy.
“Could you please help me play this one? I have never really played it before but always wanted to give it a try.” you say with embarrassment. You were pointing to the game Pac Man. Michael was about to make fun of you but he could see by your expression that your question was genuine. “Sure” he replied with a smile. You stood in front of the illuminated screen and Michael stood directly behind. Before you knew it the game burst into life. You tried your best to play, moving the small hungry yellow circle le with the controller but after losing your first life you began to panic.
“Here” Michael said as he placed his hand on top of your one. He helped you to flee from the colourful ghosts in the game. It was at that moment that you realised just how close he was to you. Subconsciously you start to gently lean back, letting out a relaxed sigh. In response he pushed forwards slightly, enveloping your body with his. Michael’s breath tickled your neck before he rested his head in your shoulder so he could see the screen whilst hugging you. For the both of you, all of the aggravation, the name mix up, paying a bribe to the unhelpful assistant and lousy waiter service was all worth it for this one perfect moment where you were completely blissful in each other’s arms.
The pair of you slowly made your way around the arcade, attempting to play every game it had to offer. As the evening went on you continued to laugh until your sides got sore. That’s when you decided to stop for ice cream. It was also then that you remembered that you hadn’t eaten anything. “So what flavour are you going to get?” you ask as you peered at all the different sorts on the menu. You turned to look at Michael when he did not respond. To your surprise he was just staring at you with a smile on his face. He was soaking you in, your excitement, your beauty and every exquisite detail he discovered. “I’m sorry that this date didn’t go to plan and probably wasn’t the Valentine’s Day of your dreams because ya know…the restaurant… And” he started to apologise. Lifting your arms, you cup his face with your hands. Your eyes stared into his and you knew that you had his full attention. “Thank you Michael, this has been the best Valentine’s Day ever. It’s the date of my dreams because it is with you.” you said quietly as you leaned towards him. Unable to help yourself, you gently pressed your lips onto his.

Ballet Exam
Connor nervously shuffled his feet as he stood on the spot. Pulling his black jacket closer to him as a cold breeze blew through the air. Yet again he got out his phone to check the time before mumbling "Where is she?" Today was a special day after all. A couple of days ago, he had somehow summoned up the courage to ask you out, after having the biggest crush on you for the longest time. In all honesty he never thought that someone as amazing as you would ever agree to date such a huge waste of space like him. It was kind of an accident as he got angry and sorted of blurted out "Well then why don't you just go out with me?" and the rest was history.
He was stood outside of the community dance hall on a chilly Saturday afternoon as you learnt ballet at the weekend. You had arranged to meet up today with Connor at 4pm because you usually finished half an hour before, so you'd have plenty of time to get changed and make yourself look more presentable. However it was now only a couple of minutes to four and there was no sign of movement inside the building. Connor started to tap his foot with impatience, silently over thinking everything. 'I knew that she wouldn't really want to go out with me, she probably left ages ago.'  He couldn't help but breath a sigh of relief when the front door opened.
"Do you want to come inside dear? It's far too cold to be out here on your own." said a kind looking woman as she caught sight of Connor huddling for warmth. He looked at the woman initially in confusion and then slight annoyance. But she was right, it was too cold to be stood outside. "Do you know if (Y/N) it still here at all? I'm meant to be meeting her here but I haven't seen her." Connor asked politely as he walked in. "Oh yes, she is still practicing. I do believe that she has an important exam next week. Follow me and I'll take you to her." the woman replied, smiling as she walked down the corridor. She stopped outside a room and opened the door, gesturing for Connor to step inside.
His eyes were glued to the floor as he impatiently walked into the room. When Connor finally looked up, the sight of you stopped him in his tracks. You were up on points, arms stretching up high. Your body was in a pose with more grace than Connor thought was humanly possible. Silently, he studied you. Your black leotard clung to your form. A look of concentration etched on your face. He noticed a couple of beads of sweat start to appear on your brow as you attempt to keep your body at still as possible in the pose.
You had been so engrossed by what you were doing, that you did not notice Connor entering the room. Raising one of your legs, you performed a pirouette. Spinning on the spot, you jumped and immediately stopped when you caught sight of him. "Oh Connor" you said as you looked at his dazed expression, with his mouth slightly ajar. That was when you suddenly realised. Gazing at the clock on the wall, a wave if guilt washed over you. "Oh no, Connor I am so sorry. I have a big ballet exam next week and I just needed to perfect this one move before I go. I'm sorry you must have waited ages, I guess I just lost track of the time." you said trying to laugh it off. "OK" he replied in an oddly monotone voice as the expression on his face did not change. It was as if he was still in a daydream, staring at you but not really seeing you.
You walked towards Connor and placed a hand on his arm, making him snap back to reality. "Can we stay here just a little longer? Pretty please?" you asked, attempting to make your best puppy dog eyes. "Fine" he said in a huff, however the corners of his mouth turned up into a smile and a quiet chuckle escaped his lips, letting you know that he was actually OK with it. He knew that you were working hard and that you staying late was a complete surprise to both of you. It was odd though, a part of him actually wanted to watch you practice.
You resumed your position. Slowly you lifted yourself up onto points. After doing it for a couple of hours now, your eyes started to water slightly at the pain. However, Connor did not even notice your discomfort as you appeared to effortlessly elongate your limbs. He marvelled at the sight of you, somehow exhibiting such strength and poise. Looking forward into the big mirror in front of you, you make sure that your body was moving into the appropriate shapes. In next week's exam you needed to be perfect.
Growing more tired, your eyes started to wander. Lifting your arms, you caught a glimpse of the other figure in the room who also just lifted their arms. Perhaps it was coincidence, perhaps not. Slowly you lifted one of your legs and sure enough the long haired boy copied you, causing a giggle to escape your lips. He was looking down at his leg, attempting to make it as straight as possible. His tongue poking out of his mouth slightly as he concentrated. That's when an idea crossed your mind. Quietly you walked up to him. Connor jumped slightly as he looked back up to see you now standing in front of him with a smile on your face.
"Would you like me to teach you some steps." you ask a little shyly, as you raise a suspicious eyebrow. His eyes widened slightly as your question had caught him off guard. You were also intrigued by how he would answer. "I.. uh... no........ I mean unless you want to." he replied. Your smile grew as you had hoped that he wouldn't be able to resist your offer. You knew exactly which move to teach him first. Would it be better if he just copied you or would you need to move his limbs into position? Silently you decided that if you moved him first then it would be easier to copy you.
Slowly you began to move closer. You reached your arms out towards him and began to hesitate slightly. This was Connor Murphy, the Connor Murphy who had thrown a printer at a teacher in second grade. Connor Murphy who there were so many scary stories about that spread around school like wildfire. However the thought and fears left your mind almost as quickly as they had arrived because this did not look like the same guy from those stories.
Gently placing your hands on his arm, you begin to adjust his pose until it looked correct. However, Connor tensed up at your touch. He knew that it was coming but it still surprised him. In all honestly the entire experience surprised him. You gently stroked your thumb on his arm in reassurance. Taking in a deep breath, he relaxed again. "There" you mumble before taking a step back to admire your hard work. It was odd looking at the normally aggressive, weed smoking boy in a graceful ballet pose. You began to dance, smiling as you watched Connor copy your movements. Staring at you as if he was seeking your approval.
To your surprise, Connor was a fast learner. His long limbs gave him the perfect physique for ballet. However what started as a serious ballet class for beginners soon turned into a fun goofing off session. You had shown him how to do a pirouette, which he frantically copied. Before you knew it, you both continuously span around the room like little children playing. The seriousness of your approaching exam melted away. Connor laughed, which was a sound that you don't think you had ever heard before. You also could not stop giggling.
Absentmindedly you continued to spin. The pair of you getting more and more dizzy. No longer paying attention you came to an abrupt stop as you accidentally bumped into Connor. He tripped slightly. Connor unable to stop his movements, leant forward with his arms outstretched to help his balance, his lips lightly touching yours for a couple of seconds. His lips were slightly chapped and the smell of his cologne mixed with a light scent of cigarette smoke filled your senses. Pulling away you could feel your face heat up and you could see that Connor's checks were also dusted pink. He stared at you with shock filled eyes and a worried expression, unable to process what had just happened. He was relieved when you smiled up at him.
Reaching an arm forward, you held one of Connor's hands in your own. He responded by entwining his fingers with yours. Giggling, you kissed his cheek. "I think I've practiced enough. Let's go out for that date." you say giving Connor's hand a squeeze, making him chuckle.
