Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.

There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.

We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.

Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.

Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.

Is he trying to make us all forget that he willingly worked with Harvey more than once knowing full well who and what he was? Brad had known Harvey was a predator since the 90s when his girlfriend, Gwyneth Paltrow, told him he assaulted her. A decade or so later, his wife Angelina Jolie, would say to him the same, that Harvey assaulted her… and he still chose to work with him over and over again. And now he puts himself on this project…

Harvey Weinstein’s case is being overturned because too many women were allowed to testify against him…he is being acquitted of his rape charges even though over 100 women have come forward. And then the Supreme Court is going to hear a case about whether pregnant women/people can be turned away in the emergency room if an abortion is needed. And there are men who want to claim we are equal?????????????? Disrespectfully, get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit.
