Biologist, female. I like to reblog things I find to my liking. Yes, this will go all the way from ancient civilizations to fine art to really bad anime to alien robots who turn into various modes of transport vehicles. Oh look I also have an art blog! Click this text!!

Shopping for Plus Size clothing like
Store: We want to include everyone! We believe in diversity! We sell plus sizes so that everyone can wear our fashion! Me: That’s amazing! But I don’t see them in store??
Store: Oh you have to order them online, we don’t want you to actually be SEEN in our store!
Alternatively:
Store: We sell plus sizes IN STORE! Me: That’s amazing! But I don’t see them on the shelf??
Store: That’s because it’s in the back corner as far from our other sizes, despite being the same designs. There’s also a changing room back there for you so you don’t make our other customers uncomfortable.
But also:
Me: How come these plus sizes only come in white, beige, and black? All the other bathing suits have cute patterns like flamingos and pineapples.
Store: It’s too expensive to make clothing in your size, gosh. Besides, black is slimming!

I remember getting bullied mercilessly on the bus in middle school. The bus was over crowded and we HAD to sit three people to a seat. My stop was next to last and since I was fat no one wanted to let me sit with them. The entire bus would yell “fat girl gotta find a seat” and when you forced someone to let you sit with them everyone made a farting sound. That was your life for the next half hour, and then 8 more hours of dealing with similar things throughout all of school, and another half hour home.
The other day mom sent me to pick up a pizza at Pizza Hut and lo and behold, the chick behind the counter is one of the assholes from my school bus way back in middle school. Maybe two years younger than me, if I was remembering correctly. I’m not sure if she recognized who I was. It would be pretty hard not to, considering she bullied the same person for three straight years and obviously I was still “the fat girl”.
She avoided eye contact and gave me my order, I paid for it and then finally caught eye contact when I thanked her for doing her job. I said “I don’t wish for you to be jobless, so I hope you work at a Pizza Hut for the rest of your life. Even if it’s still a little too good for you.” And then turned around and walked out the door to my car.
I don’t think I’ve ever had the nerve to say something so terrible before even to someone who was so terrible to me. I got in my car expecting to cry but I had never felt better.

Kindness is often mistaken for softness and let me tell you, friends….that is a mistake you don’t want to make.
Kind people are not born that way, they do not stumble into it, kind people are forged in fire and darkness and imploding stars…they have steel cores. Throw a punch and you’re going to break your hand.
