“i know you don’t have any reason to trust me, but you need to know something.”

“people think i’m weird.”
“i think i’m losing myself again.”
“you can’t be here.”
“i wish you’d come to the funeral.”
“do you know what today is?”
“so, you broke my favourite mug… and you’re breaking up with me?”
“i need to get out.”
“it’s like i’m cursed or something.”
“you are remarkably well-behaved tonight, what have you been up to?”
“you gonna eat that?”
“sir, the pony rides are for children only.”
“i don’t want you to worry about that anymore.”
“we’ll never make it in time.”
“you’d be late for your own funeral.”
“you should have seen it coming.”
“oh, good, you’re here! hold this.”
“why can’t you just be happy for me?”
“on a scale of one to ten, how do you feel about nachos right now?”
“is this how you flirt with everyone?”
“how much longer till we’re there?”
“what have you done?”
“it’s time for you to repay that debt you owe me.”
“where did you get that? who gave it to you?”
“what kind of mother has thoughts like that?”
“i know I haven’t been what you needed, but i’m here, and i wanna help.”
“i never want to hear you say that again.”
“you’re all i have.”
“i know it’s not perfect, but i did follow the recipe this time.”
“i was doing so well until you showed up.”
“don’t eat that! i made it ‘specially for our guest.”
“it’s not that i don’t like my life, it’s that i don’t have the energy to enjoy it.”
“how can you stand this place?”
“don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t exactly blend in.”
“you need to stop.”
“i don’t like that look, what happened?”
“is that seriously your password?”
“what’s your problem?”
“you had no right to use it without asking.”
“oh, wow, you weren’t kidding.”
“i couldn’t trust my own parents to protect me.”
“i’m surprised you haven’t been arrested yet. wait, no, i’m not.”
“why do you want to help me?”

“do you want to get a drink or something?”
“please tell me you didn’t eat that.”
“the worst part is you didn’t even notice.”
“if i wanted help, i would have asked.”
“wanna tell me what’s going on with your grades?”
“you need to leave.”
“talk to me, okay? i need to know what’s going on.”

REBLOG if when you ship, you’re here PAST the “build-up” and the first “I love you.” So many romance ships die a sad death after the build up is over, and leave muses high and dry.
There are SO MANY MORE stories to tell past that big “win.” MY Muse is not here to be tossed off when the thrill of the hunt is over. Please tell me yours isn’t either.

Kouleia chuckled, a low, throaty sound that belied the tension crackling between them. Her fists unfurled slowly, fingers tracing the line of his jaw before she leaned in. The kiss was feather-light, a ghost of a touch against his lips, but it carried with it a yearning that escaped in a soft sigh. Reluctantly, she pushed away from the wall, releasing him from the circle of her arms.
Stepping back, she created a chasm of space between them, her gaze skittering away. "You should take care of that," she said, her voice carefully neutral, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within her. Kouleia had bared her soul, revealed the monster lurking beneath the surface. He had seen her true nature, the raw, untamed hunger in her eyes, and yet...he hadn't flinched.
A wave of shame washed over her. Kouleia was a predator at heart, possessive and dominant, and Reuben, with his gentle nature and quiet strength, was her perfect prey. She knew, with a terrifying certainty, that if she gave in to her instincts, she would consume him whole. He was everything she was not: soft, kind, and utterly captivating. It wasn't fair to him, this pull she felt, this overwhelming desire to possess him.
Turning, she headed towards the kitchen. "Coffee," she muttered, needing something strong to take the edge off.

Kouleia's smirk was immediate. She leaned in close, her lips brushing his ear as she whispered, "Does this turn you on?" A thrill shot through her. His helpless arousal was a balm to her wounded pride, the fae within her purring with satisfaction. It was almost enough to make her forget her anger. Almost.
But even as a flicker of playful cruelty sparked in her eyes, she knew she wouldn't – couldn't – act on it. Reuben wouldn't understand. He'd see it as genuine desire, not a power play. And despite the sting of jealousy, she cared for him too much to deliberately hurt him.
No, she would not follow through. The problem remained. He would find someone else eventually, someone who could give him what she couldn't. The thought was a bitter pill to swallow, but she couldn't let her possessive instincts rule her every time he brought someone home.

Kouleia's head tilted, a graceful, almost feline movement, as she observed her prey. She was so deeply immersed in her instincts that escaping their grip seemed impossible.
"I didn't expect you to be sleeping with anyone right now," she growled, her voice low and dangerous. "Especially since we live together. I'd know... unless you're engaging in some weird spirit thing." A dark chuckle escaped her lips, the sound at odds with the intensity in her eyes.
"I don't appreciate others touching what belongs to me," she continued, her azure eyes shimmering with a predatory light. "My kind... we can be irrational." The anger in her voice ebbed slightly, but she remained motionless, her gaze flickering to his lips before returning to meet his eyes.

⋆˚࿔ actions and dialogue for forbidden kisses 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
¹⁾ “… that shouldn’t have happened.”
²⁾ holding onto their shoulders/waist for the duration of the kiss, and making no move to separate even after it’s ended
³⁾ “stop telling me that we can’t be together and then pulling shit like this!”
⁴⁾ “[name], i’m sorry.”
⁵⁾ pressing the pads of their fingers into their lips in the aftermath, like they’re either trying to capture the feeling or banish it from memory
⁶⁾ foreheads pressed together as the kiss breaks, eyes guilty but so so full of want
⁷⁾ “this can’t be all there is. a half-dozen kisses every year that we pretend don’t happen and pretentious conversations about ourselves, is that what we’re clinging so hard to? what i’m clinging so hard to?!”
⁸⁾ having begun to trail impassioned kisses down their jaw and neck before the harsh reality kicks back in
⁹⁾ “i shouldn’t have let this happen. it’s not fair on either of us.”
¹⁰⁾ “we sh- “ “no, please. just- just let me have this. just for a minute.”
¹¹⁾ breathing in their scent because they know that this is as close as they’ll get to it for a long, long time
¹²⁾ “why are we doing this to ourselves?”
¹³⁾ using every ounce of strength they have to not lean into the hand cupping their cheek or cradling their head
¹⁴⁾ “that was an accident.” “yeah, you always seem to say that.”
¹⁵⁾ “no matter how cruel it is that you keep giving me hope like this, it’s still never enough to stop me from loving you as much as i do.”
¹⁶⁾ “i don’t want to let go of you.” “and i don’t want to let you.”
¹⁷⁾ feeling tears welling up in their eyes as the hurt and longing burns in their chest
¹⁸⁾ holding the face of their would-be lover tenderly in the palm of their hand, silently apologising for putting them both through this again
¹⁹⁾ “i love y- “ “no, no. please, i can’t. i can’t hear this, not again.”
²⁰⁾ breaking the kiss but still holding them close, hiding their face in the other’s neck to try and recover the moment
²¹⁾ “would now be a bad time to tell you you’re a really good kisser?”
²²⁾ calling them a petname to try and comfort them, but only succeeding in upsetting them more at the reminder of what they can’t have
²³⁾ pushing them away, knowing exactly how cruel it is but favouring it over hurting them both by letting things go further
²⁴⁾ “how do we keep letting this happen?”
²⁵⁾ “this is killing me, [name].”

quotes about That Person pinterest inspired.
edit/alter/change pronouns etc as you see fit!
you and i will always be unfinished business.
i tried to love you into loving me... that's not how love works.
loving you was a sacrifice. i gave you the power to destroy me, and that's exactly what you did.
i gave you the power to destroy me, and that's exactly what you did.
you will always have a special place in my heart, and that terrifies me.
i won't ever forget you, and maybe that is the only forever the two of us were meant to have.
i'm sorry i had nothing to say that night.
i was so interested to see how you'd break my heart.
you planted flowers inside of me... foolish of me to think you'd water them.
it's pathetic, really, how much i still hope it's you and me in the end.
you said you'd be here.
hell exists... it's 3am, here, without you.
i'm scared that loving you is the only thing i got right, and it still wasn't enough.
i regret the end, the way we couldn't leave one another without wounds.
we made it seem as if all the love we shared was wasted time.
i will always remember the way you folded me at my corners, like there was a part of me you wanted to come back to.
you made me feel, and i don't like it. stop it.
i wish the best for you, i just wish that i was the best for you.
maybe in another lifetime, we get it right.
you had my heart before i could say no.
loving you is the most exquisite form of self destruction.
fuck you for giving up on me.
the worst pain is being hurt by the same person you explained your pain to.
you fucking broke me, and i'm still the one apologising.
i broke my own heart loving you.
now you're just a stranger with all my secrets.
sometimes the beginning is the same as the ending.
what if no one makes me feel the way that you do?
you made it look so damned easy to walk away from me.
you were the hardest lesson i ever had to learn.
you didn't say goodbye, and part of me keeps believing that means you're coming back.
i would've left the entire world behind for you.
you leave teeth marks on everything you love.
all of your devotion turns violent.
you let me go, but you left claw marks.
i don't think i'll ever know how to love someone without swallowing them whole.
love is supposed to turn you soft... i think it only ever turns me brutal.
we wanted each other in the way of flesh wanting to knit itself together over a wound.

Her eyes narrowed each word that tumbled from his mouth fueling the fire in her belly. Her hands, pressed against the wall, clenched into fists so tight her knuckles whitened.
"I don't know," she hissed, the words escaping through gritted teeth. "I shouldn't care. You can sleep with whoever you damn well please." She paused a flicker of something dangerous in her eyes. "But I want you to know..." she leaned in, her voice a low, seductive purr, "...that whoever they are, man, woman, spirit, it doesn't matter... they'll never be as good as me." A wink, a playful push away from the wall, just enough to give him the illusion of freedom while still keeping him caged. Her breath hitched, the raw power within her thrumming, begging for release. But she held it back. Hurting him was not her goal, not tonight. Tonight, it was the desire burning in her eyes, the intoxicating thrill of dominance that held sway.

Kouleia blinked, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. How did he know she wasn't human? Not that it mattered. She'd never hurt the ferret. Despite the anger simmering in her veins, a fierce love for animals burned within her, a protective instinct that wouldn't allow her to harm even the smallest creature.
Instead of retreating, Kouleia leaned closer, a menacing grin spreading across her face. "Do you want me to hurt you?" she purred, her voice laced with a dangerous edge. Waves of anger radiated from her, mingling with a tension that crackled in the air between them. It had been years since her fae heritage had surged this strongly, years since she'd felt this close to the wildness within.
Reuben, she reasoned, wouldn't care about her non-human origins. He conversed with spirits daily; the supernatural was practically his bread and butter. But her fae possession, the untamed instincts it unleashed... that was a different story. And she certainly hadn't prepared for the jealousy that clawed at her, a fierce, primal emotion that threatened to consume her. Jealousy was the most potent weapon in the fae arsenal, driving them to reckless, impulsive acts. Like pinning him against the wall, for instance.
"Did you purposely try to make me jealous?" she hissed her words barely a whisper through gritted teeth. "Was that your plan all along?"

Kouleia stared at the door, fury simmering in her veins. She wasn't done with this conversation. With a growl, she charged after him, slamming the door behind her. Fae strength surged through her as she grabbed his arm and spun him around, pinning him against the wall. Her hands landed on either side of his head, caging him. It was rare for Kouleia to let her fae nature show, but he'd pushed her too far, breaking through her carefully constructed control.
"I wasn't done talking to you," she hissed, her voice low and dangerous. He was so close she could feel the heat radiating from his body, his scent filling her senses. She blinked, forcing herself to focus.
"No, you don't understand," she snarled, her voice dripping with disdain. "Do you even know what I am, Reuben? If you're so good at paying attention, at using your intuition... do you know what. I. Am?" she enunciated each word, her voice a venomous whisper.

Note
That was not how Kouleia expected Reuben to answer the question. Especially since she prodded him about her, but his connection and obsession with the spiritual world, well, she understood that well when it came to him. Envy overtook her, which made absolutely no sense because she was jealous of dead spirits floating around in the spiritual plane, but his love for them rivalled everything else. "If you love them so much, why don't you go sleep with them," it was the most immature statement Kouleia had said in her life, and she immediately regretted it, standing up and running her hand through her strawberry blonde locks. She should not be jealous. There was no reason to feel this way when she just told him she had no feelings for him and couldn't be who he wanted her to be. It was clear Reuben had gotten under her skin, making her think irrationally.
"You care about the pleasure I give you; you do not care about me, Reuben."
