If you surround yourself with people who are genuine and open, you never have to worry about saying the wrong thing or being too upfront.

i believe you can always get back to yourself. you can always soften into being again. no matter how long you might be stuck in a pattern of unhappiness, of being jaded, of feeling guarded from the world in some way. there is always a path back. give yourself a chance to find it.

I have always been a quiet, shy & timid person my entire life. So, approaching people to make them feel welcome in a new environment was never my forte because I was mad afraid that whatever I do and/or say would only be a disturbance to them. Really, I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking I was arrogant & intimidating at first. But I have come to realize that communication is one hell of an important skill. It could open up many great opportunities & I just think maybe I should change. I have decided that this cannot go on forever. It puts me in awkward situations & great discomfort, yes. But then I remember a wise old man once said, “If you are not uncomfortable, you are never going to learn & grow.” and I choose to live by that.
Since then, I have been receiving tons of positive compliments on how bubbly I am. They say, seeing me smile & laugh has given them just enough amount of energy to go through the day... and they love it, hehe. It feels truly amazing!

A tiny bit of gratitude & happiness,
Today is my 5th day of work & what can I say.. I am truly enjoying this. Not only did I manage to make new friends but I also learned a lot & gained new experiences. However, one day I came to the realization that I *may* have spent so much money on transportation so I decided to cut my expenses a lil' bit by taking bus to home.
That evening, the bus was already so crowded we could barely move but a kind & lovely woman told me to just grip on the handle in front of her so I wouldn't fall. Aah, my heart. You see this is why I love taking public transportation so much. I know it's not so convenient esp. if you live in urban areas— you have to get up super early & be ready by no later than six in the morning so you can catch the first bus and/or train because five minutes late means an hour late to work, yet every second counted feels like a torture when you have to forcefully push yourself into the crowd & fight for a single spot. But, that is what makes it somewhat fun. You will encounter so many different kinds of people that will also change your perspective on life, that life is actually beautiful.
Like today, I overheared two grown men's conversation on serving in military during their younger years. My heart broke to pieces when the older one said his wife had passed away in 2006. Even further he explained how sad & frustrated he was knowing he couldn't stay by her side as she took her last breath because he's got duties at work & as a serviceman he was always told to put national interests above his own— all to watch the downfall of this country done by some greedy rats. Me, I could only imagine the disappointment. Then we parted because I had to get off & take a different bus.. and while I was waiting for the specific bus to arrive I saw a family they were joking around with each other & laughed. It's just so beautiful, so wholesome to see.
Taking public transportation day to day, I have grown to love observing people & learn from their experiences. I always spare at least 15 minutes to just sit on the train station bench & watch people move while thinking to myself, “Orang-orang keren, ya. Mereka capek tapi masih pada bisa lanjut gerak. Beberapa juga masih bisa senyum & ketawa.. tapi ada juga, sih, yang kelihatan sedih & gak bertenaga. Oh, ternyata yang capek bukan cuma aku ya.” and it makes me feel like I am not alone— I am never alone for I am not the only walking person on earth feeling exhausted & shit. Even some people have it worse & they don't complain. So why would I?
