I've already rambled about her in this post and i haven't changed anything about her story so i'm not gonna yap about that again. I made her pre-canon (can I even call it pre-canon? it's a part of the story that happens before the main events that i came up with for context but then i got invested and...let's just say it has more "main story" energy than the actual main story) outfit actually look like clothes (to be completely honest, i myself wasn't even sure whether her old design was her actual body or clothes...). I've also changed their current clothes, not much to say about this one, i didn't like drawing the old ones anymore. I still like the old design in concept, just not in practice.

They were the last envoy to be summoned to The Land of Winds.

He's actually the first character i designed for this story (his concept hasn't changed that much actually). He was the first envoy of the wind summoned by the gods to protect humans (the last surviving human settlement) from not so friendly creatures (there's a lot more to these creatures and i'll have to elaborate on that in a different post, i'll just leave it at "not so friendly creatures" for now for simplicity's sake). The humans never really trusted him, that's why the second envoy was summoned but more on that later. That is also why he lives outside the citadel (the last human settlement, i don't have a name for it other than The Citadel, but i think it works because well...there's no other human community left so... no need to have an identity of its own, right?). I'm realizing now while i'm writing this that there are a lot of things about the story that i have to explain to make certain aspects of these characters make sense...add that to the ever growing list of clarification posts i have to make that i probably should've written before the character introductions...man

Risei is the second envoy, summoned to convince humans to trust them and to believe in the Prophecy™ (she was also the one who phrased it, in the version that it would appear in the story...i hope this isn't too confusing ahhh). She is a priestess for the sky gods (the ones who summoned the envoys, but primarily The Refraction, because they are the most relevant god to the fulfilling of the Prophecy™) for two reasons: one, to reassure the humans on the legitimacy of the Prophecy™ and two, to ask the gods what the hell are they supposed to do to fulfill it. Being summoned as an envoy of the wind literally means spawning one day in The Land of Winds with a very vague idea of what your goal is.

Risei is very good with words and, out of all the envoys, integrated in human society the easiest (she's fascinated by human culture)

Lioran's purpose was to track the movement of the stars and predict when and where a rift between the land of lights (sky realm, where all the stars live, The Refraction's domain) and the land of winds might appear, as well as sew a giant net to catch the star safely. They are somewhat reclusive but became good friends with Risei. After [insert tragic event that led to the envoys disbanding] they traveled to the tunnelways (name is subject to change - the tunnelways are some leftover structures from civilizations long gone, they stretch over a significant portion of the land of winds) to map the stars and make sure such an event won't happen again. They have a knack for fabric, for both the aesthetic and practical sides of the craft (hence the spider reference) and are the one who came up with the design and made Risei's ceremonial outfit. Their opinion of Friheten isn't exactly good, let's say her questionable work ethics aren't helping her here, this also has to do with [insert tragic event that led to the envoys disbanding]. Lioran was the third envoy to be summoned.

Is it awkwardly late to mention that, at least in the current version of the story, Risei dies in pre-canon? Yeah, that happens. It's not the thing that gets the envoys to disband and swear to never attempt to fulfill the prophecy ever again, but it definitely adds to it...

on further inspection, the bodies of water match too (the panels in crk are cropped differently tho, it makes the terrain look continuous)

now you see, when the "Garden of sweet delights" update got announced i thought it sounded oddly similar to "The garden of earthly delights", the triptych, i then watched the trailer for it and oh? some of the structures (can't figure out a better way to describe them?? the tall ones, look up "the garden of earthly delights" and you'll see what i mean) also reminded me (though vaguely) of the painting.

Now...you're telling me...THE MAP FOR EP 10 LITERALLY HAS THE PANEL COMPOSITION OF THE TRIPTYCH???? after you play 10-29 the map zooms out AND REVEALS THE COMPOSITION!!!!!!! I AM NOT INSANE!!!!!!

updated their reference sheet (damn i can't get their face right for the life of me helppp) for....reasons (artfight).

I gave them a more complete suit of armour (and many many spirals) as well as and alt design because i wanted to play around with the cape placement and all that. Changed their hairstyle a bit (it looks more like the pale king's hairstyle now huh, not sure how i feel about that). I also tried to make their face more porcelain mask-like and, more notably, gave them a mouth (that is subject to change, i don't know if i'll keep it, it makes it easier to get their face structure right tho)
