I tried to mix book and movie canon. You know in the 5th book, Nightlight had a family and briefly spent his time with them before the fuck ass serpent tried to kill him. And instead of Jacklovich and Ana, I replaced them with Jack and Mary instead. And this comic is how he met them. Does it make sense? No, but I'm having fun nonetheless.

After months/years of trying to stay apart, Katherine sends Nightlight a welcoming message. He's on his way to her right away
HC: MiM bad. Lunanoffs bad. Kinda long post. Nightlight/Katherine centric
We disliked MiM ever since we've seen him in RotG, and after reading the books our dislike of him only deepened. The reasons for that deserve a separate post, but today we'll focus on Nightlight.
Even though Nightlight thinks he and MiM are friends, they clearly couldn't have been. His existence had been kept a secret, so the only people he knew were Lunanoffs, sleeping toddler MiM, and Pitch. But then a little girl flew up the clouds and drew his attention, and Nightlight was never the same. The way their relationship deepened and blossomed, we only expected that the natural conflict of loyalties will arise. That it would look even worse after previous biggest Golden Age hero fell to despair because of having second loyalty. Or simply because lonely MiM might be jealous to share his only "friend" with anyone.
The books hinted that Nightlight was developing a personality thanks to his relationship with Katherine. In our version, it also makes him grow and makes his light dimmer. Since no one Nightlight ever did anything like that, Katherine gets scared and distances herself from him. Both suffer.
Jack gets into this mess from Katherine's side just because he's a disruptor by nature, honestly, and doesn't like any kind of forcing people into loneliness. And from Nightlight's side, Moonbeams do their best to distract him from heavy thoughts. Pretty much like that.
Early in the books, Moonbeams are known to "get Night out of his shell" and push him to wherever MiM needed him to go. So here, too, they did their best to distract him from undesirable thoughts. Except this time, they fail. Only getting happy now makes him brighter.

My friend used to doodle on my hand during our free time so I'm projecting that trait on Bunny.

They paint on each other's fur as a sign of affection.#Bunny used to be covered in paint from head to toe. And he remembers each pattern that was painted on him.#He uses them on his eggs sometimes.#Bunny does this to the other guardians but it's much more subtle. He does Tooth's make-up. He chucks paint bombs on North. He can't paint-#on Sandy but he does sprinkle colored sand on him. #Because I do. And it's a very prominent part of the book for me. It's fascinating and it bothers me at the same time.#Fascinating because I thought wow. This guy is known to be a compassionate and a noble general. He is known for taking his surviving-#enemies as prisoners and works to reform them. He takes fucking care of them. And in this scene he did not spare anyone.#And like. For me. This scene makes me think that Kozmotis Pitchiner died the moment his family is presumed to be.#And it also fucking bothers me because why?? Did he believe them???? Did he not check for the bodies himself?? Because I find it hard to-#believe that someone who's devoted to his family would not confirm it with his own eyes that his family is dead.#Like I genuinely need to get in his brain and see what the hell is happening there. And like. That might just be Joyce and his writing but-#Goddamn man I need to know why.#And like. I really need to know if he's been deteriorating for like... I was suppose to try and learn a new coloring technique and I somehow ended up making lore.#What the hell happened.#Anywhizzle. In this horrid little lor that I made the fuck up. The Tale of Bunnymund is a very significant mythos for the Pooka.#Retellings of her story vary from clan to clan. But the main common thing to her story is that she has plenty of arms.#Some clans revered her as a hero. A symbol of protection and might. While others use her as a cautionary tale because they find her many-#arms hideous and a crime against their very being. Either way she's pretty popular. No one knows what happened to her after or if she's-#Still alive. But her impact on the Pookan society is predominant.#Bunny heard of this tale and was curious how she got her many arms and stumbles upon the dreaded cacao. Aka a very big no-no for Pookas.#Not illegal per say. Just a very notable taboo. But Bunny doesn't care and was experimenting away.#Cut to many years later. When Pitch was invading the Pookas. Bunny was nicknamed 'Bunnymund' because of his habit using many arms against-#Pitch's onslught and it stuck to him for many long years.#Basically all of this was a very elaborate way to fill up the accidental plot hole I made when I decided that Bunny's middle name should be#His surname and his first initial is his real first name.#Fuck my silly baka life.
