Poem: “Position of the Heart”
Oh I am fulfilled
Complete to my core
A warmth wraps my soul
There is nothing else to complete me
I radiate like the sun
Though i give my all, am remain full
My source of nourishment is my radiance
Only ending when I close my arms
If I look out, all can be found
If I look in, the light is never found
With closed arms I am unfulfilled
With open arms I never want
The more I give the more I have
The more I have the happier I am
The more I hold the more I need
The more I need the less I am satisfied

Poem: “The Road of Death”
I walk this old gravel road
Looking to my right and left I see great horror
The dead line the road
The stench is so unbearable
The sun beats down and intensifies the decay
The screams of pain echo in my ears
My eyes want to hide from the vision of filth
My hands wish to recoil from the rot all around
Occasionally the perfume of sweet flowers swirl in my nostrils
The joy of laughter soothes my ears
The bounty of joy brings tears to my ears
How I long to swaddle and hold this beauty
Alas love appears so briefly and rarely
It’s beauty so rarely manifests
The soil is cracked as if with canyons from the lack of its life giving waters
Missed opportunities create a pit in my soul

Poem: “Looking At my Hands”
I look at my hands
How they speak to my soul
Today they are so filthy
I can barely see my skin
Yesterday they stayed clean all day
Flawless and prepared for anything
Shining in the noonday sun
Not a mark upon them
Today I feel so weary
My work has drained me whole
Spent to utter nothing
There is no where I want to go
Yesterday I was restless
At it’s evening I could not sleep
Anxiety ruled my mind
In my dark recesses I wished to weep
It is easy to stay clean
It is easy to keep a day void of accomplishment
It is easy to be nothing
It is easy to be blown away like sand
It is hard to fight in the world
It is hard to carry on and through
It is hard to be something
But it is glorious and rewarding too

Poem: “Wanting to Shine”
Designed before the beginning of time?
How can I conceive this thought?
I know that I have today
And in this way I want to shine
Designed for love and to bring it in
How can I when my heart is broken?
I know that I have your help
And in this way I want to shine
Designed for hope and what lies in store
When the walls are falling what do I do?
I know that tomorrow will come
And in it I hope to shine
Designed for joy, dancing and laughing
Even when everyone is watching?
I know I decide what I focus on
And in it may my joy shine

Poem: “Longing For Peace”
How I long for peace
I search the far reaches
Yet it alludes me
Am I blind?
Is peace before my face?
Is it’s solace within my grasp?
If I am blind, why?
What am I holding before my eyes?
What is in my hands?
To let go is to see
The burdens I carry are stacked in front of my face
I may even trip over peace and curse it’s presence
What can I let go of?
Where is my heart?
How long will this journey of the mind endure?

Poem: “Oh My Little Box”
Oh my little box
It is where I reside
It is small and comfy
It’s warm and cozy, sometimes too much
Oh my little box
I remember when it was bigger
I had room to run and play
But now I am older, maybe wiser
Oh my little box
It’s filled to the brim you see
Oh I am so lucky
It’s just a little cramped anymore
Oh my little box
Some say it could be bigger
That I get and hold too much
Without it all I’d have more room
Oh my little box
I can’t give it all away
It’s all mine I tell you
I’ve been collecting for so long

Poem: “Oh the Sun”
I turned away from the sun
I hid from it’s light
I thought I knew where I was going
I thought I had all the answers
I turned away from the sun
It was bright and I did not care for it
It was hot and made me sweat
I longed for the cool of the night and the shadows
I turned away from the sun
I hid from the light and the warmth
I stumbled and fell, injuring myself
I was cold and huddled in the corner
I went looking for the sun
Maybe I could get back what I once had
But I forgot where it dwelt
I had run so far away
I went looking for the sun
I saw a small light off in the distance
It is now my guiding star
Soon will I be back again?

Poem: “For So Many Years”
For so many years
I knew your love
I felt your love
But I did not see you there
For so many years
I walked away from you
And so you cried
I did not care
For so many years
I was in pain
I thought I was alone
But you were there
For so many years
I have returned
And so the trials
And we face them all together
For so many years
I’ve been on this journey
You love me, you know me
No matter which way I am looking

Poem: “Waiting for the Answer”
I see the storm clouds circling
The wind rises in strength
The wind cools and feels sharp on my skin
I call but where are you?
Out in my boat fishing for dinner
The peaceful waters get restless
My boat rocks increasingly violent
I call but where are you?
Walking through the field, the harvest is soon
The ground begins to quake
I see a plume of smoke in the near distance
I call but where are you?
So I wait for your response
I wait for your answer
Why can’t I hear your answer?
Is it my fault for lack of focus?
I call but where are you?

Poem: “And So I Walk Forward”
The sun shines and all is well
Flowers slide through my fingertips
Sweet aromas flood my nostrils
A warm blanket encloses me
And so I walk forward
Clouds dance across the sky
A breeze cool surrounds my body
A crispness transforms the air
Questions begin to arise
And so I walk forward
The clouds begin to darken
A crack of thunder is heard close
A swell of water and dirt I smell
Goosebumps erupt on my skin
And so I walk forward
Am I alone?
Have I always been?
Where should I go and to whom I turn?
Today is the same as yesterday
And so I walk forward

Poem: “A Whisper Through Time”
Running in the fields
Sun on my back
Pleasant scents dance in my nostrils
Never have I felt so alive
And so comes the whisper
I feel the sand between my toes
Waves bounce with glee on the shore
The song of crashing water enthralls my heart
Birds soar the coastline with majesty
And so comes a whisper
Lying in the grass, a soft bed holds my body
The clouds play and dance across the sky
The sun ever pulls a smile from my face
The cool breeze caresses my skin
And so comes a whisper
The day goes long
The sun sets
Coolness and darkness creep in from every corner
Hesitation and doubt invade
And so comes a whisper
When will I listen?
Or
Will I ever?

Poem: “Following the Cracks”
Following the line of life
Trying to make my way
It looks like a crack in an old sidewalk
Turning jagged every which way
I hold my breath sometimes
Sometimes I gotta jump
Sometimes I’m really sore
Sometimes I’m just too tired
But each day rises
And I head out again
Following the path of my life
Waiting for the end

Poem: “Sitting In This Water”
Sitting in this water
I’m cold and lonely
I thought this would be fun
Didn’t think I’d be alone
Sitting in this water
How long do I keep waiting?
Is anyone coming?
Or am I just to swim alone?
Sitting in this water
I float with the waves
How long can I last for?
For what am I made?
Sitting in this water
Ready to get out
No shore or edge insight
Been treading for too long
Sitting in this water
My muscles begin to ache
It’s time to decide
It’s time for new waters

Poem: “Hey Old Man”
Hey old man are you okay?
You seem to be moving slow
Hey old man, you doing okay?
You seem really tired and groaning
Hey old man, it’s been a long day
Do you want to take a rest?
Hey old man, it’s okay
We won’t let you fall behind
Hey old man, you’ve taken lots of hits
Do you want to leave?
Hey old man, don’t you worry
But know, we all can see
Hey old man, some are real angry
Some say you were all wrong
Hey old man, no one is perfect
It’s not too late to make amends
Hey old man, the day is late
It’s almost time to go
It’s been a good run for you
Don’t worry we’ll keep it going too
