PROMPTS FOR ORDINARY THINGS THAT FEEL INTIMATE
"You should have seen her, Kyohi. Mirai was the fastest out of all her classmates! Not only did she win the sprint race, but she also made sure every one felt included. And when one of her opponents fell, what did she do? Helped them, of course." He couldn't stop smiling. "I swear, she didn't get that benevolent nature from me."

His choice...He was usually fine with going along with what other people wanted, but it made him happy that Kakashi was giving him a choice. Even if it was because it was his birthday.
"Um...I really like white rice..." a bland choice, he'd been told. "Combining it with chicken is really tasty, so if there's any place that serves something like that, maybe that'd become my favorite place."
But really, Ichiraku was mostly the only place he'd been to, when he wasn't cooking at home.
"Mhm" he nods his head. Iruka is -usually- approachable and friendly. And he likes kids, as obvious as it is, by his profession.
"It is alright, Kyohi. It's your choice today" In all honesty, Kakashi only has the vaguest idea of how a kid would like to celebrate their birthday. He's just trying what he remembers Minato trying on him when he was a kid (he wasn't very interested in it).
"Ichiraku is...cozy, I guess. And the food is really good. Have you been to other places, though?"

Try a few weeks late. It didn't happen today yet, at least.
"Oh--I'd like to stop by your home, yeah! That sounds fun!" So full of life...two parents, a few kids...Kyohi had admired Suen's family since he met them. "Are your brothers going to be home?"
Oh no, he recognized that look. What were a few minutes late compared to accompanying Kyohi for a while longer? "True... Those other ladies aren't as kind, either." He could get scammed again, too.
"Actually, I was planning to invite you for a home cooked meal after finishing up some things at the office. I can accompany you to her stall while picking up some of the ingredients I need."

"Oh, well...that's good to know..." Was he going to tell Suen that he fell victim to that old grumpy looking man already? Not likely! But it was probably written on his face, anyway.
"A granny? There're a few elderly ladies dealing in groceries..." It would be like finding a needle in a haystack...
"Alright then, if that's the case, I'd advise you to stay away from the corner of the main intersection. There's a grumpy looking fella there always overcharging people." Finger begins to tap on his chin in thought. Honestly, he liked these little walks with Kyohi.
"There's a granny there who absolutely adores me," he exaggerates, laughing, "near the end of the street and if you tell her who you are, then I'm sure she'll give you a good discount and then some."

"Why not? Anyone who cares about you would remember. Also..." He tilts his head, looking at the basket. "Are you heading to the shopping district? On your free day?"

He missed him in the morning and wasn't sure when he'd be home, so Iruka left Kyohi's gift basket on the table. He bought his step-son a new book and included a gift card so he could go pick another, several little sweet treats, and a small white rabbit plush with a birthday card. (He knows it'll never replace the one that was lost, but he hoped it would be seen as a way to remember them.)
[BIRTHDAY BOY]
Kyohi returned from his shopping trip, the basket carried in his arms and supported by his hip, only to notice something on the table. Slowly and carefully, he set it down(also on the table), and looked over what was in it.
Was this...for him?
It was, the gift card had his name on it! And the book he'd been wanting to read...He'd only talked about with Iruka. Oh--!! He only skimmed over the sweets before his gaze landed on the little rabbit plush and--
...It was too much. He was happy, he felt loved and wanted. He felt like he wasn't just barging into their lives...
Upon reading the card left for him, an audible sob left him and he chose to summon three of his bunnies. Not for comfort, but to show them the little plush.
"...They're too nice to me," he murmured quietly, watching his rabbits circle around the toy, petting them with his finger. "I know you can't take this with you when you leave us, but I got this for my birthday and...I thought you all might like it. You probably need it more than I do." It was their sister they lost. "I'll be keeping it in my room."
He'd have to thank Iruka, later.

Okay so for Iruka's ask that I'm answering, I imagine this OST being used for any future soft moments Kyohi has with his summons<3

"M--Maybe a little?" Kyohi startled slightly at the very correct assumption. "He's, um...very approachable and kind, so..."
It did help that the man used to be a teacher, he supposed.
He rubbed the back of his neck, blushing just a little. "That's okay, right...? I don't really need anything expensive."
Cont (x) @whispersofdeceit
He seemed nonchalant, but he was still attentively studying his reaction. As he heard him mention Ramen, he chuckled.
"Have you been spending too much time with Iruka-sensei?. Ichiraku it is, then" As he said that, he lazily started walking in the direction of the Ramen stand. It was funny how most of the people he cared for ended up gravitating there, one way or another.

Kakashi puts a hand on Kyohi's head to ruffle the soft strands. Then he pulls out a square package. It's two books. One is on strategies to team up with summons, and the other is 'The Tale of the Gutsy Ninja', which is well cared for, but worn at the edges. It's definitely second hand.
"Happy birthday, Kyohi. Where do you want to go for lunch?" He's smiling at him.
[BIRTHDAY BOY]
--He recalled telling Kakashi his birthday almost like it was an afterthought in a rather mundane conversation one day...and that was awhile ago. He was honestly surprised he remembered, almost like that was immediately stored away in long-term memory.
"O-oh, thank you..." came his almost quietly stunned voice as took a look at what was inside the package given to him. Books! He loved to read! Well, one looked like an actual story, probably maybe fiction...and well loved.
"Huh? Oh--um...I don't mind? We could get ramen, if you'd like."
