I've been thinking about this quote by Dorothy L Sayers
“God sends nobody to Hell; only a wicked ignorance can suggest that He would do to us the very thing He died to save us from. But He has so made us that what in the end we choose, that in the end we shall have. If we enter the state called Hell, it is because we have willed to do so.”
I've also been thinking about the idea that everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven. If we accept that Jesus is God's love for humanity manifest, as I do, then believing in Jesus is more a question of accepting God's love.
God's love, under which there is no male or female, no east or west, no jew or greek. So for the time being I believe that what gets a person into heaven is their willingness to see the humanity in others around them, and more than that to join with them in eternal life.
Hell is the absence of God's love, which can only be found in those who reject God's love for others.

I never understood Christians who want to suffer
Like I understand intellectually that in sects that emphasize sin and punishment, suffering can be seen as bringing someone closer to god
But also God does not want you to suffer???? (he doesn't want anyone to suffer)
There is no interpretation of the christian God who enjoys the suffering of his creation or finds it necessary that I do not find at least a little blasphemous.

Me and 2 friends bought a watermelon last night and ate it in a public park using only a pocket knife
I had never before felt God's love as profoundly as I did in that moment.
