The return to the good ol' bad ol' days of social media and expressing unfiltered opinions that may or may not matter. But first, coffee. And art. Oh, and cats. And music. And shameless selfies. Ya know, stuff that says "Look, it's me!"
This has always been my favorite meme, and not for reasons you would think.
You see, Helen’s character wasn’t laughing because it was a majority republican or majority democrat ran house. It wasn’t because she was an anarchist, though that’s a little bit closer to the truth.
She was laughing at the irony of the martians blowing up a useless target. Congress hasn’t done anything useful for the country in ages. A short few of us actually get that, which is sad. Perhaps we would all get a little more mirth and joy out of a world where people now days just don’t have, by recognizing together these certain truths.
Why, you may ask?
Because hating each other for who’s side you are on politically kills that. Siding up with one side or another in an otherwise useless institution is toxic, therefore joyless and mirthless.
I love you guys and want you to be happy. I don’t get my rocks off pointing out where you are wrong, I’m not an internet troll but someone that enjoys challenging and making people think for themselves. I find it hurtful and disappointing I’m no longer welcome into the fold here anymore, but I like me just fine and will move on graciously.
You see, I learned something valuable in life: I don’t base friendship on political belief, religious affiliation (or none), money or the lack thereof. I base it on something a very wise and brave man once said about basing judgment on the content of one’s character. The sad thing is many of you tout your beliefs in that person to show who’s team your on so you fit in, lest those said beliefs ever be challenged. And though you don’t realize it, sadly, by doing so, you have lessened the content of your own character by removing the challenge to your beliefs.
I wish you all the best, I absolutely loved the sense of community we all shared here long ago. But that was then and this is now.
And this is when you start looking to alternatives to left and right. Party politics are literally disintegrating our society.
All this crazy shit going on with the anti quarantine at home protest being fueled by right wing political hacks has really got me questioning my so called patriotic tendencies as well as the possibility of enjoying life again. I think it’s better to stay away from most people right now.
I mean who really wants to live like this, with these people?
