For someone whose strength isnt Programming. It has been a struggle to build a website. Although they say using programming language such as html and css is easy. Well, it is quite easy to learn if you put in your best.
Wordpress on the other hand, isn't that simple as well. But most of the work is done if you are just downloading themes and plugins.
To build a website, the 1st thing i feel you should consider is your target audience. That is very important. And then research. You must also, take note of what pages you will have and age. So a wire frame is required. Photoshop can ne used for this.

2FA for add-on developers.
Recently, hacking have been on the increase and is disturbing. It can get bad quickly just after clicking on a wrong link to purchase something. In one of my previous post, i discussed on how to identify legit web pages.
Anyway, to prevent malicious actors from taking control of legitimate add ons and their users, Mozilla announced that all developers of firefox add-ons must enable a two-factor authentication solution for their account and this will be starting early 2020.
This is the best course of action the browser make could have taken to prevent future supply- chain incident.
Hackers can use developers compromised accounts to ship tainted add-on updates to firefox users. And they can use the access to this compromise add-ons to steal passwords as well as spy on users. So this is a great move and will help reduce the amount at which users are hacked.

Web Design Trends
Designs have been getting very creative in the past couple of years and people are still coming up with creative and brilliant ideas. And in this blog today i am going to talk about possible web design trends for in 2020.
First of all Dark Mode; I personally love dark mode. As we speak all my devices are in dark mode because it looks more appealing to the eyes for me. Some colors pop out more in dark mode. And this will look ultra-modern when putting into web design.
Immersive 3D elements: People have always been delighted to see 3D visuals now you can easily design 3D visuals unlike in the past. The interactive 3D design encourages users to stay longer on a web page.
Soft showers, layers, and floating elements: this is all about creating depth. It is the toned-down version of 3D design.
Mixing photography with graphics: this helps create a memorable visual for the user. And always be sure to match the style of the illustrations and graphics with your brand personality.
Ultra minimalist navigation: what hold websites together is navigation and over the years this has been getting smaller and simpler. This takes away the difficulty in usability.
Use of images and videos: videos and images are becoming more important. Cause this is used to impress users and give them a memorable feeling to ur site while there is just a small amount of text.

Interpreter Mode: Googles new feature
Kudos to the people working at Google for always coming up with helpful products to assist our day to day activities. Google is keeping to their mission which "is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.".   Now Google has come up with a new feature called Interpreter Mode.
Now and again that data isn't particularly open or helpful, particularly when you're voyaging someplace that you don't communicate in the language, this new feature that is rolling out will assist you.
all you just have to say is “Hey Google, be my Spanish translator”, or any language you want and you will have it. then google will listen to the speech in that language and interpret it back to you in your language. Isn't that amazing? and this is a realtime feature. This also reads out the conversation in text bubbles.
at least now I don't have to pretend and nod my head like a lizard as if I understand when someone speaks a foreign language to me.

Tips to fully optimize Google search Engine
Google has become a part of most people's daily life. it has even gotten to the point that some people ask questions such as; “what do I do with my life?”, “why is the sky blue?”, “Why do cats hate cucumber?” etc. We even ask google to diagnose are illnesses which isn't a good idea. However recent studies show that a lot of people do not use google search properly.
people struggle to locate accurate information on the web and most are unable to tell which is credible for use due to rampant fake news on the web. Here are 5 tips to optimize the use of Google:
Don't settle for the first answer you get. there are other pages containing other answers. so explore other pages. this appears at the bottom of the page
Do your research on who said what and “why?”. people have reasons for putting up information online. and not all of them are accurate. so always check the origin of the information.
Do not include your suspected answers in your search. do not suggest to google what you want to know because it will give you results to confirm whatever you suggested.
Also, play around with keywords.
Get to know different operators. using quotes around searches can help you find the exact phase.
with these tips you should be able to optimized google search engine properly.

New Websocket inspector to be released in Firefox 71
Tumblr media
Some of us may not know what a WebSocket is, but I will give you a brief definition of it.
WebSockets provide a persistent connection between a client and server that both parties can use to start sending data at any time.  An API is used for this.
The Websocket inspector as announced by the firefox development team will be released in firefox 71
Key features included in Firefox WebSocket Inspector
The WebSocket Inspector is part of the existing Network panel UI in DevTools. It was possible to filter the content for opened WS connections in the panel, but now you can see the actual data transferred through WS frames.
The WS UI now offers a fresh new Messages panel that can be used to inspect WS frames sent and received through the selected WS connection.
There are Data and Time columns visible by default, and you can customize the interface to see more columns by right-clicking on the header.
The WS inspector currently supports the following WS protocols: Plain JSON, Socket.IO, SockJS, SignalR and WAMP will be supported soon
5. You can use the pause/resume button in the Network panel toolbar to stop intercepting WS traffic.
firefox is still working on other things as well to be released. developers seem to be really happy with the news.

Instagram and “likes”.
Tumblr media
A few months ago, Instagram started to hide the likes of users in some selected countries as a test run including Ireland where I live. And as someone who uses Instagram often, I wasn't in support of it. And now the Facebook-owned social network is trying to deprioritize likes on its platform.
Instagram is planning on rolling this update out to some users in the US and not all. some people will not be seeing their likes but rather a selected username and others. and when you click on this it will show you the user who has liked your pictures and videos but not the number of likes.
Instagram says they will be taking note of users’ feedback to get an insight into how they feel about the change. Users recently, including myself have been obsessed with getting more likes so as to be popular rather than sharing moments that the app was meant for.
well, let us see how people react to this and what changes could be made.

Cyber Security
Cyber security is a top priority when dealing with the web. There has been a lot of security bridge cases which leads to fraudsters reaping where they did not sow. Staying safe online and protecting your funds is very important. Nobody wants to lose money, Right?
On today's blog i will be discussing ways to stay safe online and protect your funds so as to prevent tears.
Avoid Public Wi-Fi: Everyone is always looking for a free and open wi-fi to connect and public Wi-Fi is a playground for hackers. it is easy for data to be accessed when connected to a public wi-fi because this data are not encrypted. so it is better to stay avoid using public Wi-Fi or rather use a VPN to protect your data.
Look for HTTPS: When visiting any site that you have to provide your personal details or financial details, always check for HTTPS in the address bar of your browser. This identifies that the website is using a security certificate that encrypts the data sent between both parties.
Limiting Online Sharing: What we post on social media shows intimate information about our life. so this hackers can use the information to gather data about our life. With this, they can figure out your password and have access to your accounts.
Never Provide More Details Than Necessary: Most website ask you for your great grand fathers family history. All this information is not necessary and are mostly used for marketing purposes. You don’t know what the site would do with that information. All you need to provide is payment details and shipping address.
stay safe out there. Cyber security starts with you.

Two Factor Authentication (2FA): a yes or no?
For some applications, to verify your profile and be able to access it you need a 2 factor authentication. This is a "security" process where you provide your phone no to the platform and you are been sent a text message to verify that it is really you. Facebook and twitter have been using this security measure for quite while now, but we werent told is that marketers are able to access this phone number which the user has registered on the site for marketing and targetting purposes.
Our phone numbers has become powerful tools to identify and track us easily.“For a lot of people, [text-message authentication] is a totally reasonable protection that you should feel comfortable using,” says Gennie Gebhart, a researcher on consumer privacy and security at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
There are other ways now to secure your account without having to provide your phone number. Authentication apps are now available to help you verify your accounts without having to provide ur digit. Although twitter do not accept this apps yet.
Authy is an example of this app and is available on android, iOS, windows and macOS. Google, LastPass and Microsoft provide other authentication apps.
And there are other ways of verifying your account without giving out your phone number.
It is all up to you to protect ur data or not. Some prefer to provid phone no and other don't.

“No Power” Apple warns users
Apple put out a statement saying that certain iPhone 6s and 6s plus may not power on due to a component that may fail in the phone. They did not disclose or mention which component in the phone may fail and i think it is due to some reason. It was mentioned that the devices which may be affected are devices manufactured between October 2018 to august 2019.
Tumblr media
Not only is there a “no power” situation with the iPhone 6 models, this is followed with Mac Book Keyboards and batteries also having problems as well as a security issues affecting the top brand and is kind of awkward if we talk about the brand and company having this issue since the have a reputation on good quality phones and software.
On the other hand the provided a free solution to people experiencing this problem of “no power” but firstly you have to be eligible to get the free repairs.
For those already having this issue you can click here to check if you are eligible for this repair.
Officially, apple discontinued the marketing the iPhone 6 models in United states in September 2018 due to the launch of the iPhone X models. In my opinion, i think this is just a market strategy to get iPhone users to switch to a later model of the phone because you have to eligible for this repair as well as be in the country where the phone was purchased. so a number of people wont be able to get this fixed which would lead to them getting a new device other than iPhone 6.

The impact of social media on today’s Educational system.
“The ubiquitous use of digital tools and environments afforded by mobile devices, social media and the internet creates both risks and opportunities for the development of young people’s social, emotional and critical thinking skills." Sir Peter Gluckman
Digital media has its advantages and disadvantages on the education system as well as an impact on the students. This is left down to how it is being maximized.
Social media is part of our day today life, so there is no point trying to keep it away from the educational sector. Instead schools should be encouraged to use this technology for better communication between teacher, student and parents.  There are certain ways to use social media in education and this includes: using social media as an online classroom, encourage collaboration and teamwork, interact with parents and advisors, hone students’ internet writing and online research skills, learn from colleagues around the world.
It also comes with some challenges which are: Shortening attention spans, communication changes,cyber-bullying,information overload and fake news.
Today we can acquire information from anywhere in the world through digital media. By using information technology, students can decide about their study, its time, its place and their resources. In digital environment students can share their ideas and experiences and using help from other students and teachers. Digital classroom comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. Example includes moodle. This requires a shift from teacher centered to student centered environment. This gives the student to access the courses and its instruction materials at any time and anywhere. Students on the other hand could get easily distracted.

Topic: “Education: What works and what does not”, with Professor John Hattie
By Abasiono Adams
Listening to Waseem Akhtar podcast on Bridging the Gaps: a portal for curious minds about “Education: What works and what does not”, with Professor John Hattie, He discussed about meta-analysis which is the statistical procedure for combining data from multiple studies. This research area focused on what works and what doesn’t work in our schools.
The impact of class size from his research proves positive but the effect is relatively small. This depends on the teacher and his or teaching techniques. The government spend more money in reducing class size rather than investing in teacher development.
Only a few student end up doing their homework themselves. The parents or sibling at the end of the day do the homework. It has both a positive and negative effect. Some students don’t care about it and to some it is a challenge to get better at what is been taught.
Teachers’ feedback also matters. There is a good feedback and also a bad feedback. Sometimes teachers are bitter and judge students that are below average and this damages the student mentally. John mentioned that every student should achieve a years’ worth of growth in a year and the job of a school is to provide knowledge to the student.
Watching TV, playing games, social media and other digital technologies deprives some students of learning. This depends on how the student uses this technology. Some use it to learn while others abuse it.
John also talks about visible learning for teachers which helps teachers as they become evaluators of their own teaching. Visible learning occurs when teachers see learning through the eyes of the student and help them become their own teacher. Teachers need a variety of strategies to teach.John mentioned 8 mind frames which includes: engaging in dialogue with the students, introducing challenges and feedback, developing positive relationship, learning hard work, assessments etc.
Listening to this podcast got me thinking about my primary education where it was about being the first position because my parent always promise to buy me a bicycle if I came out top of the class. Well, I never got that bike till date. Students have been classified into different categories which includes the competitive one which always end up in the top of the class, the ones who just want a pass and the ones who are just in school because they have no choice and this ones are always below average. During my education till date, I have noticed teachers’ bitterness and judging attitudes towards student which spike my interest in this topic. Most students have gone through depression and some got to the stage of committing suicide back in my home country Nigeria.
