Moving on past the awkwardness, Naoto was pleased that Taka was more comfortable going ahead without too much issue.
“He says so,” Naoto replied with mild scepticism. “I’d say you know how it is, but Goro and his affections have always been questionable.”
He didn’t want to do Goro too much of a disservice, he was his little boy after all. It was more so he knew that even at the age he was at now his decisions were still a bit misguided.
Small talk about the kids and their goings on was easy for them and it was their most shared topics. Though Naoto thought to take care over any Yusuke adjacent tangents.

For one, he had traded his paint brushes for a camera...opting to pursue his passion for photography. He'd fallen into the hobby late in his senior year and, with the help of Taka, had chosen to study it in university. It had been a few years since then...and every day, he found himself more grateful for the change. Of course he loved painting...but it didn't feel the same anymore. And if anyone understand that, it was Ryuji...his long term boyfriend.
@whoro-akechi
Yusuke glanced over at Ryuji, swallowing the lump in his throat before averting his gaze. Ryuji didn't seem nervous at all...but then, he hadn't really changed much since high school. Yusuke, however, had changed quite a bit...and was unsure how the others would react.
"I'm...not sure this was a wise idea..." he repeated for probably the tenth time since their flight landed.
If his career choices didn't have him nervous enough, his body changes certainly did. While he'd seen Akira a few times in recent years, Ann was a different story. Since she'd opted to attend classes in the states, he hadn't seen her since they'd started university. He knew the weight he'd gained was healthy, and that he was still technically underweight, but...he was nervous none-the-less.
"Don't overthink this, Yusuke." Akira commented, his own gaze watching the gate. Goro's schedule hadn't quite lined up with their flight, so they were waiting on him at the moment.

A soft sigh escaped Naoto as Aiko disappeared in almost an instant. This battle was going to be more than up hill, it was nearly a vertical climb. He hoped that eventually she’d come around, even a tiny bit.
He turned his attention back to Taka, joining him in the effort to move in from Aiko’s clear unhappiness.
“Sounds like a plan,” Naoto replied. “We ought to get used to the place a little.”

It was a relief to get to the hotel with some ease, although the tension was still rife in the meantime, carrying through to exchanging of keys. Naoto accepted the his and Aiko’s keys, doing the part if the middle man.
“Perfect, we’ll be nicely ready to see the kids,” Naoto said with a hit of relief.
“Here’s your key though Aiko,” he finally passed on her key, more or less releasing her to hold herself up in her room for a moment. God knows she probably wanted to get away for at least a second.

The lingering sense of being between a rock and a hard place hit Naoto as he lamented the tension that didn’t wane for a second between Taka and Aiko, more so on Aiko’s side.
“It shouldn’t be too expensive, nothing that’s going to bust the budget anyways,” Naoto agreed as he thought it over.
“Let’s try and catch a taxi… Hopefully they’re not too different…” he suggested, still with a minor weariness about the difference between here and home. There would be a lot of learning on the fly here.
Naoto beckoned for them to go ahead and leave the airport in the aims of catching a taxi. He was looking forward to seeing the kids if nor feeling kind of nervous about it given all their current issues.

Naoto accepted the water, pointedly over looking the fact that he was the only one she got extra for. It was another part of this, the part that was requiring very gentle handling. This trip really had him working hard.
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” Naoto agreed. “The sooner we find it and get there, the better.”
“Are we all ready to go?” He asked as a follow up since the notion was now hanging over them.

Naoto shook his head, “it’s okay. I know you’re just worried about him, it’s understandable.”
Out of all of the kids Yusuke was always the one on the most tenterhooks. He was never one to be too upfront about his problems, even after all this time and work towards unlearning that behaviour.
“I’m sure once we finally get to meet with the kids things will become a lot clearer and everything can be handled,” Naoto tried to reassure him.

Naoto let Aiko with little fanfare, he knew she still needed some space and he wanted her to have that room. This couldn’t be easy for her after all, being so far from home as well as being in proximity to Taka. They just had to build things up with her slowly.
That being so, Naoto directed his attention to Taka who was less of a complicated situation. Especially since at the moment he just wanted to talk about the kids, which was a vastly easier subject at the moment.
“I’ve only got little bits from Goro,” Naoto answered. “You know how they can get a bit cagey.”
It was normal for those kids to clam up as soon as problem comes up. It was one of the great trials that came with taking care of them.

Naoto wished that the flight had been a bit easier on Taka, but there was little be done about it except give him space to ease up for the minute.
When he asked about the time however, it became just how out of sorta they were. The timezone change was a little more confusing than anticipated, but fortunately there was the fall back of modern technology. Naoto checked the local time, it was late afternoon which gave them a minute before they were expected.
Naoto had ever so gracefully informed Goro of their visit only a the day prior to their flight. Sure, it wasn’t a fair thing to do, but he couldn’t give him room to argue or attempt to dispel them with the promise that ‘everything was being handled’. Fortunately, Goro took the last minute mention in his stride and arranged a time for them to meet.
“They’d said around five-ish. We have a little bit of time yet,” Naoto answered.

“Would I ever say no to you?” Naoto hummed softly.
He knew that he was going to miss Nozomi and his kids so badly, but it was important that he helped Goro and the other kids.
It had taken a bit of convincing to get Aiko to come to America with him, she didn’t have a lot of interest in leaving. But eventually she was won over on the matter. Taka, on the other hand, took no additional convincing however, he was on board almost immediately. Nevertheless, they were nearing their landing America. It had been difficult leaving his wife and kids at home, but it was exciting to be somewhere new and he looked forward to seeing Goro again.
Once they had landed and the reconvening after going through security, it was just a matter of getting themselves sorted between each others. Naoto was set on taking care of Aiko through this trip, and he always had his eye on Taka given everything.
“Are we all doing okay?”

“That’s true,” Naoto agreed. “Maybe it would be worth our time suggesting that he come along when we get him up to speed?”
It might be an idea to just cut out the middle man there and suggest that he comes along to America with him. In a way, it would be nice to have his company too, he liked spending time with Taka, they were good friends. But mostly Naoto thought that it might be easier if they could both deal with the kids, it may lighten the load collectively.

“You know how he gets as well,” Naoto said, cottoning on there. “Taka’s probably going to want to contact him immediately, he might even be on the first flight over if he’s worried enough”
As he made the remark, it dawned on him that they was actually likelihood. Taka hardly lived in half measures, and Yusuke was in his eyes as good as flesh and blood. He’d be out there in heartbeat if he felt it was bad enough.
“This not going to be an easy one to break,” he sighed softly.

Admittedly Naoto was not expecting Nozomi to ask that but somehow it made sense once she had asked. Aiko had been hardly present for so long now, Naoto could scarcely think of the last time he had seen her.
“Oh, of course, I can ask her and if she wants to come along she certainly can,” Naoto agreed. “It’ll be nice to have some company, and hopefully it’ll get her out of her shell a little”
“Who knows… Maybe America will refresh her,” he said with a hint of optimism.

Naoto could only smile at his wife, his smile was tinged with a little sadness but mostly it born of adoration. He couldn’t say just how much he loved her.
“Maybe you’re right, but I won’t lie, everything I do for you is my pleasure,” Naoto hummed.
“Oh, Nozomi…” he uttered softly, “I love you much, and I’ll miss you. But you’re right, I should go out there.”
As much as he didn’t want to leave his wife and two small children, he had to help his other children. They were lining themselves up for possible disaster and he couldn’t let it come to pass.
“I’ll get sorted for as soon as possible,” Naoto said, setting the decision in stone. “And I promise I’ll call you everyday, no matter what.”

Naoto was more than familiar with the way that Hiro and Souta had become very tentative uncles to the twins. And he knew that Nozomi was more than capable, she was a strong lady after all. Even so, he was nervous about being away from them for the first time.
“You know, I’ll miss you while I’m away,” Naoto said, giving into the suggestion of leaving to help the kids out. “It’s been a while since we’ve been apart.”

The hug was more than appreciated, he could always rely on Nozomi to be a source of comfort in times of worry. However he was soon surprised by what Nozomi proceeded to suggest. He understood where it came from, but he wasn’t so certain on.
“That means I would be leaving you with the twins though…” he mentioned, his hand cupping her hand as she touched his cheek.
“I don’t if I want to leave you, sweetpea,” Naoto said, the thought leaving him a little distraught.

“Hm, that’s true,” Naoto nodded. “It could be the stress of seeing something upsetting like that. It might have trigger something for him as well.”
Admittedly, Naoto was worried for the kids. They were all adults and needed to be trusted to be out on their own, but he was worried about them in a variety of ways.
“I can’t say I wish he wasn’t getting himself involved with that all… But I’m worried, Nozomi…” he remarked.
Time Abroad - AU
For one, he had traded his paint brushes for a camera...opting to pursue his passion for photography. He'd fallen into the hobby late in his senior year and, with the help of Taka, had chosen to study it in university. It had been a few years since then...and every day, he found himself more grateful for the change. Of course he loved painting...but it didn't feel the same anymore. And if anyone understand that, it was Ryuji...his long term boyfriend.

Naoto nodded, it was best they spoke to Taka sooner rather than later. He didn’t feel like it was something they could let linger at all, Taka needed to know what was going on.
“Mhm, that’s her,” Naoto hummed. “He was telling me she has a bad relationship with her parents, they’re abusive towards her from what he’s saying.”
“And you know how Goro is… He thinks he can help her, fix it somehow.”
