George, my husband… George, who is out somewhere there in the dark, who is good to me, whom I revile, who can keep learning the games we play as quickly as I can change them. Who can make me happy and I do not wish to be happy. Yes, I do wish to be happy. George and Martha: sad, sad, sad. Whom I will not forgive for having come to rest; for having seen me and having said: yes; this will do. Who has made the hideous, the hurting, the insulting mistake of loving me and must be punished for it. George and Martha: sad, sad, sad.
WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?  1966, dir. Mike Nichols

the brutalist is great because studios were like "stop wanting to make a movie about us and make palatable hollywood oscar bait" and brady corbet was like "ok, this will be a commentary on the sexual dynamics of capitalism and trauma and nationalism” and guy pearce was like "i am a leyendeckerian humbert humbert who would love the work of marquis de sade if i wasn’t so repressed” and adrien brody was like "guess it's another role where I’m suffering and everyone wants to fuck me" and joe alwyn was like "what a great opportunity to practice my frowny faces!"

Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role:
Is there a better description of a cube than that of its construction? There was a war on. And yet is my understanding that many of the sites of my projects have survived. They remain there still in the city. When the terrible recollections of what happened in Europe cease to humiliate us, I expect for them to serve instead as a political stimulus, sparking the upheavals that so frequently occur in the cycles of peoplehood. I already anticipate a communal rhetoric of anger and fear. A whole river of such frivolities may flow undammed. But my buildings were devised to endure such erosion of the Danube's shoreline.
Adrian Brody as László Tóth in The Brutalist (2024, dir. Brady Corbet)

GET TO KNOW ME MEME ✦ (1/10 Favorite Films) SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) dir. Billy Wilder
“I’m not very bright, I guess…just dumb. If I had any brains, I wouldn’t be on this crummy train with this crummy girls’ band…I used to sing with male bands but I can’t afford it anymore…That’s what I’m running away from. I worked with six different ones in the last two years. Oh, brother!…I can’t trust myself. I have this thing about saxophone players, especially tenor sax…I don’t know what it is, they just curdle me. All they have to do is play eight bars of ‘Come to Me, My Melancholy Baby’ and my spine turns to custard.”
