Erick James
Erick is a classic whumpee, getting hurt over and over and over and over and over and—
More about he under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CW: abuse, neglect, eating disorder, sexual assault, human trafficking, Stockholm syndrome (platonic or familial I guess)
Erick first shows up as the second main character in Villain's View, where he gets kidnapped for ransom, but his life as a whumpee starts long before that. Being born to a wannabe rich and narcisistic asshole of a father and an enabling mother he's always lived under a lot of pressure to be perfect.
Things got worse after his mother died when he was eight or nine and he would've been alone if he hadn't made a friend at her funeral. Initially he only sees his friend in school and other social situations where he has to put on a mask and pretend everything is fine and well, but when he's at home with no visitors around, his father won't even look at him.
To cope with the stress and loss and loneliness, Erick develops bulimia at age twelve with a pattern of binge eating followed by purging. His friend eventually notices and gets him to see a therapist, paid for by his parents so Erick's father won't find out.
When he's fifteen he's finally beginning to recover when his life turns completely upside down when he's violently kidnapped by Chase Fetcher. He watches his best friend get shot as he's dragged into a van, never to be seen again.
In captivity, he quickly learns to appease his kidnapper by following his rules, following orders, and taking abuse and torture without complaint. Days turn into weeks and he slowly learns more and more about his kidnapper while waiting for his ransom to be paid so he can go home. He also learns to trust him after being saved from being sexually assaulted, being taken care of when he catches an infection, and especially when his kidnapper stops his client from trafficking Erick when the ransom continues to not be paid.
After finding out that his father never bothered to get him back, thinking his only friend didn't survive, and the only other person who had shown a smidgeon of care in years being his kidnapper, Erick refuses to leave when he gets the chance to go. He feels indebted to his kidnapper and wants to make that up to him, even if that means having to tolerate more abuse and possibly never being free again.
Thus forming the dynamic duo of Villain's View and the AU spin-off Your Move, My Move, and Our Move.

Another dream comic. Had a dream where I was tied to a chair in a dark room and some hooded figures killed me after I begged for my life—but then I got caught in a time loop and so I kept trying to figure out what I could say to get them to not shoot me but they killed me no matter what I said. Started just shouting random stuff eventually.

Yay, unsolicited advice time! Or, not really advice, more like miscellaneous tips and tricks, because if there's one thing eight years of martial arts has equipped me to write, it's fight scenes.
.
Fun things to add to a fight scene (hand to hand edition)
It's not uncommon for two people to kick at the same time and smack their shins together, or for one person to block a kick with their shin. This is called a shin lock and it HURTS like a BITCH. You can be limping for the rest of the fight if you do it hard enough.
If your character is mean and short, they can block kicks with the tip of their elbow, which hurts the other guy a lot more and them a lot less
Headbutts are a quick way to give yourself a concussion
If a character has had many concussions, they will be easier to knock out. This is called glass jaw.
Bad places to get hit that aren't the groin: solar plexus, liver, back of the head, side of the thigh (a lot of leg kicks aim for this because if it connects, your opponent will be limping)
Give your character a fighting style. It helps establish their personality and physicality. Are they a grappler? Do they prefer kicks or fighting up close? How well trained are they?
Your scalp bleeds a lot and this can get in your eyes, blinding you
If you get hit in the nose, your eyes water
Adrenaline's a hell of a drug. Most of the time, you're not going to know how badly you've been hurt until after the fact
Even with good technique, it's really easy to break toes and fingers
Blocking hurts, dodging doesn't
.
Just thought these might be useful! If you want a more comprehensive guide or a weapons edition, feel free to ask. If you want, write how your characters fight in the comments!
Have a bitchin day <3

Can I have uuuuuh the gals rescuing the guys?
Don't get me wrong, I love it when the gals need saving. But the guys need help from their gals too.
I wanna see a badass gal with noncombative guy (platonic or romantic!) I wanna see the gal save the guy from distress. I wanna see the gal kick ass, free the guy from his bonds, and carry him to safety like a knight in shining armor, but it's the knight who needs saving.
Let me see badass gals save the dudes. Please? 🥺

Jaime Fetcher
If I had to label her I think she's technically a caretaker, but in essence she's mainly just the daughter of and best friends with the main characters of the story, and doesn't even make an appearance until the sequel, but she's still very dear to my heart and a rebel with a capital R~
More about she under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jaime Fetcher is everything she isn't supposed to be (according to her mom and aunt). Both her mother and her aunt wanted her to grow up as a respectable young woman, but the harder they tried to push her into a mold the more she broke out of it.
She thrifts for high-quality grunge outfits instead of shopping for the latest fast fashion. She wears dark makeup to scare people off instead of pretty makeup to attract men. She's an artist instead of a scholar. She protests instead of conforming.
And worst of all; she takes after her father instead of her mother.
Jaime's parents divorced when she was only little, but she was old enough to see the truth despite what her mother tried to tell her. She managed to convince everyone that her father shouldn't be allowed near her, except for Jaime herself. She managed to keep in touch with her father despite her mother trying to do everything to prevent that, including revoking his parental rights by pointing out his alcoholism and unemployment.
But being a daddy's girl at heart, Jaime only saw the good in him and as soon as she figured out how postage worked, she kept sending him letters without her mom finding out. When her mother got terminally ill, she sought his comfort, even running away from home to finally see him again. However, her father had fallen in with various criminal activities at this point, and talked her into going back.
Before she passed, Jaime's mother named her sister as legal guardian to look after Jaime, and since her father never fought for custody after she passed, she remained in the care of her karen aunt.
Jaime starts spending as much time away from home as she possibly can, hanging out with her friends after school who are all seen as misfits in their small rural town, and onoccassion she runs away back to her father, who lets her stay a couple of days to cool down before sending her back.
She's considered a delinquent back home, much to her aunt's horror, but manages to stay out of trouble because the town sherrif is a big ol' softie, and all Jaime and her friends really do is make some really good points regarding social justice, just in the wrong ways; (vandalising offensive signs and landmarks, attacking pro-lifers at a protest, calling out karens in public, and starting fights with homophobes).
She forms a squad with three queer friends and their one token normie, and are often caught smoking pot in a resident's scrapyard because there is literally nothing for them to do outside of school. The sherrif knows this and usually sends them on their way with some breath mints and a joking "see you next week." Knowing they'll wind up back there eventually.
After years of kicking up trouble in her town, she eventually escapes by attending college for an art degree, her provocative paintings eventually appreciated as powerful commentary on society, but most importantly she doesn't have to be sneaky about being in touch with her father anymore.
Read all about her whumper of a father right here~
