so today at work one of my coworkers hands me a box
I have no context for this. He’s a 50? 60? Year old plumber who tends to walk into the office, tell a dad joke, and leave. I’ve just arrived at work and am still putting my purse away. So he hands me this box and says it comes with instructions. I open it and unfold this
He says his great grandma probably made it
This pansy is the tiniest pocket in the world
It could use some blocking after who knows how many years in the box but look at these sweet little pansies!
The pattern was clearly typed on a typewriter, several pages of it. I guess this was an apron specifically for having your friends over for tea.
I just happened to be wearing a skirt that kind of goes with it, so I did wear it all day (it’s a @mayakern skirt!) and another friend said I look like I should be living in a shoe. Perhaps as some sort of mouse girl making pastries for the other woodland creatures. But uhhhhh what an incredible heirloom piece to just be handed. It’s probably twice as old as I am. I’m definitely going to bring it to stitch circle this week
Rescued some floral fabric from the clearance bin. Almost gave up on this one because I cut the neckline too deep at first, but I was able to salvage it because of how stretchy the material is.
when i get home i should take pictures of my cursed half-fairisle-half-intarsia-in-the-round sweater knitting approach (my non-knitter housemates dont appreciate how cursed it is) (main color is knit normally in the round, contrasting color is knit back and forth intarsia-style, so areas with contrasting color are knit in normal fairisle on half the rounds and on half the rounds i knit only the MC stitches and slip the CC stitches onto a DPN, then flip the work and knit only the CC stitches and slip the MC stitches, then slip everything back onto the circular needle and keep going)
A temperature blanket that I made my parents for Christmas. My dad figured out that someone was getting it for Christmas, but neither figured out that it was for the year that they got married and not 2022. Also, you can't see it in the pictures, but I added a silver crochet thread for the kids birthdays, gold for my parents birthdays, and there's a silver and gold row for their anniversary.
yknow what i think abt a lot? how you can make a knit/crochet project with any yarn you want. like. you don't have to use the expensive alpaca wool the pattern is telling you to use. like you can literally use any yarn you want. that's so cool to me.
In honour of fall, allow me to introduce you all to this monstrosity I made back when I first started knitting and didn't understand how dimensions work:
It's an hidden way to tell the difference between the right and left gloves.
I'm so mad right now I just finished the second glove that I'm making for a friend bound off and everything and then I realised THE CUFF IS ONE ROW SHORTER
