Diana, Princess of Wales (1st July 1961 - 31st August 1997) 17 years ago today, Diana, Princess of Wales died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France shortly after midnight. Her companion Dodi Fayed and their driver Henri Paul were pronounced dead at the scene. Bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was the sole survivor of the crash. Diana arrived at hospital at around 2am. Despite lengthy attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 4am. The crash was initially blamed on paparazzi, however it was later found to be the fault of Paul, who lost control of the car while drunk. Diana is survived by her siblings and two sons, Princes William and Harry.
