like, 2000s baby here, but before my friend encouraged me to start watching buffy (halfway thru s1 rn!) pretty much all i knew about the show was "vampire show with the lesbian witches and that rlly popular enemies-to-lovers ship"

but now i'm looking at merch and magazines from that time, and angel is the guy everyone loves?? joss whedon gave us HIM

and thought we wouldn't fall in love?? thought we'd go for angel, who has the most clear ~first love interest who either dies or becomes evil to make way for the better love interest~ i've ever seen in my life??
