Pirlouit experienced unimaginable torment at breakfast this morning.
The worst kind of bullying a donkey can go through. Someone tried to steal his hay.
(It's hard to take photos of Pan mid-crime because he is so fast. He's a shadow. A dream.)
(Or rather, a donkey's worst nightmare.)
To be fair, Pandolf clearly wasn't trying to steal anyone's hay. He wanted to kiss Pirlouit's cheek (he learnt this from Poldine), and was only going to do it once, but then Pirlouit freaked out at this blatant attempt to steal his mouthful of hay, and Pandolf thought Pirlouit's reaction was very funny, so he did it again five hundred times. (It gets funnier every time)
Are we having fun, Pirlouit?

If Pirou looks dirty it's because he rolled around in the mud first thing this morning. It was soft and refreshing and lovely, he thought this Tuesday was starting in a most auspicious manner.
But then Pandolf tried to steal his hay.
Eventually, Pampelune the Llamatriarch intervened, full of majestic authority.
I took Pandolf with me to lock him in the barn for a bit and let his friends eat in peace—but when I turned around I saw Pampe spit on Pirlouit to ban him from the communal pile of hay!
Pirlouit looked simply crushed under this avalanche of injustice.

Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?

Cannot Stress Enough how important it is to read Howl’s Moving Castle written by Diana Wynn Jones immediately after watching Howl’s Moving Castle directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When he made the movie he was of course upset with war and thus included it in the film, but you gotta understand. You really Gotta Understand. Every time in the movie where Howl turns the door dial black to travel to an absolutely hellish warscape? You know where that same dial takes him in the book? The Real World Country Of Wales

the man who owns and runs the thai restaurant in my town knows me by name. he is one of the kindest and most thoughtful men i know. i started ordering from his place back in january, which was when i got my fibromyalgia diagnosis. back then i was using a walker, had limited mobility in my entire body but especially my hands, and was very visibly in pain. i always ordered the same thing: yellow curry with no meat, potatoes and carrots only (i have texture and other dietary issues). he always made it a point to make sure i could get out the door and carry the food safely. he had his workers package the food so that it was easier for me to open. as i kept coming back and i told him a little bit about my health status, he would always encourage me to keep going. he told me about how the spices he used were good for inflammation and began to edit the recipe just for me so that spices that were even better for fighting inflammation were used. he’d give me extra portions and despite the fact that i would tip every time, i realized later that he never charged my card for them. as time went on and my condition began to get better, he would make encouraging remarks and tell me how happy he was for me. the day i came in without my walker, he practically jumped for joy, and despite my insistence, he gave me my meal for free that day. i continue to make progress with my conditions and i continue to go to the thai place. this man who does not know me personally and who i hardly know anything about is one of my favorite people. it’s interactions with humans like these that make loving life easier. and his curry really does help my chronic condition. it’s comfort food taken to the next level.
