The kernel of my first Good Omens story was “Crowley understands temptation, Aziraphale understands love.” This story is another take on how that dynamic might have played out, inspired by the revelation that Crowley tempted Aziraphale into eating his first meal.

Chapter 2 is up! A brief excerpt:

Aziraphale tried to regain his composure and, after a moment, remembered his fit of pique. “Oh, well, it’s a bit of a mess, if you must know. I’m meant to have an audience with the queen tonight, but she’s rather hard to pin down. It looks like I’m on my own for dinner.” It wasn’t exactly an invitation, but he knew that Crawly would take it as one anyway.

“What a coincidence, angel. So am I.” Crawly reached over to Aziraphale’s plate and plucked a dark olive with long, graceful fingers. He placed it between his front teeth and flashed a lopsided grin before taking it into his mouth and rolling it around on his tongue. After a few moments, he pursed his lips and extracted the olive pit. “What are you drinking?”

“Hmm? Er, water, of course. Although I suppose I’ll need a refill now.”

“Aziraphale.” Crawly’s tone was incredulous. “Are you telling me you still haven’t tried drinking wine?”
