( nick robinson / cismale / he/him ). willard elsner wasn’t expecting to be given a second chance at life. the twenty-one year old last remembers living in the 1940s in guadalcanal, solomon islands. one thing they remember from their past is an inexpensive locket containing priceless photos. they’ve been described as being benevolent and trusting, but that is to be expected since they are a libra. (ooc: alfie, 17, est, he/him)
will was born on october 12, 1921 in a barrington, illinois barnhouse to a loving mother and father. at the time, barrington was mainly a farming town and the elsners were no stranger to farming. in fact the barn that willard was born in has been passed down through the generations until about the 60s when the farm went bankrupt and his parents retired.
on the farm its pretty much a little ecosystem, they have different animals and various crops so they can have multiple revenue sources.
the family never really experienced the jazz age, but they also didn’t get hit much by the great depression once that hit. barrington was basically its own country. it had its own rules and economy.
until will’s younger sibling was born in 1936/1937, will was an only child and as such got both spoiled and was forced to work the hardest of the three. when the chicago world fair of 1933 came, he got to go. but as soon as he got home that night he had to milk the cows basically had to stay up all night making up for the fair days.
he was homeschooled for all his life and while that seems like a bad decision, his mother had gone to school for teaching and was able to give him the essentials that he needed in life. in fact she’s the reason he’s smart for his time and loved to read. sure, he didn’t have many aspirations, but he had hobbies and he knew what he’d do in the future; take over the farm.
the kid was pretty popular in his town because he was easy to get along with. if you ever met him you’d know he was the sweetest thing you’d meet and he helped when he could. some would say he’s overly willing to help others before taking care of himself... regardless, the kid was sociable and if he had not gone to war he could have been mayor.
but, that’s now what happened. after the events of pearl harbor, will wanted to join the war. he’d heard about it in the news for so long that he wanted to help the side he knew to be right (like his father). when it was finally a thing he could do without losing his citzenship, there was no question in his mind. his parents didn’t want him to go to war so in december of 1941, he snuck out of the house and enlisted in the marines.
after bootcamp and all he had to do, he was sent out to fight in what is now known as the “guadalcanal campaign”. there was his first and last assignment as towards the end of the conflict, on december 05, 1942, he passed away because he strayed away from his base camp and was caught by a japanese soldier spying on the group.
oh yeah so from a young age he knew he wasn’t straight but he figured it wasn’t significant and “a phase” so he did have a girlfriend back at home he only liked as a close friend and he hasn’t thought more about it since he was a young teen.
now that he’s in the modern era he’s refused to wear anything but nicer clothes. sure he bought them from a local thrift shop because he doesn’t have money, but he still looks like he stepped out of his decade. he also refuses to get any other tech besides a flip phone. he got a job at the local plant/seeds store since that’s one of the only things he knows and the owner has let him stay in the backroom as part of his payment since they figure he’s homeless so he has nowhere better to go. he is confused how he’s alive, but he’s glad he is. while he doesn’t show it, he hasn’t been able to get a good night’s rest since a few months into service and it’s only gotten worse since maine.

WANTED CONNECTIONS
someone from a more modern decade who taught him how to use technology today.
the kid of one of the marines he worked beside because? that’d be cool and kind of quirky.
maybe a coworker?
