Almost finished with Grade 4 theory, probably will be buying Grade 5 theory book in 2 weeks. I'll give it like, 6 weeks before I'm starting practice papers and probably another 2 or 3 months before I sit the exam.

rereading haven and all the recent stories that featured toya's brothers...

in the end the one thing everyone in toya's family hates to see... is toya giving up on music... they grew up with music together and they all know how much it is woven into their lives and how much admiration they have for music.

i also really love how cozy natsuomi's home is -- including how he tries to make his home a place for toya to be in. the music collection, the brown piano, the sofa... the warm lights, the chairs

even the way he speaks to toya is so warm and comforting as well... his voice is more similar to harumichi's in terms of deepness and directness but he cares a lot about toya too and wants what's best for him.

i also love how even though natsuomi doesn't have a lot of time to spend with toya (because he went pro) he seems to be very observant and quickly noticed when toya's expression changed. i love that he gave toya space to open up...

conclusion: i love aoyagi family :(

ok i saw this post that resurfaced that went like "a loving relationship between a guy who says wowza and a guy who says hm intriguing" EXCEPT PERSONALLY I THINK TOYA IS BOTH AND IT HEAVILY DEPENDS ON THE SITUATION

take toya to the arcade to play his favourite games and he'll be a WOWZA guy. let toya experience something for the first time and watch him succeed on his own he'll be a WOWZA guy.

but let toya sit there and observe the world around him, let him hyperfocus and be 100% absorbed in his hobbies like reading, he's a hm intriguing guy.

random thoughts about how toya’s excitement feels so lively and pure. i love how much i can feel his happiness from just the way he talks and his facial expressions

let’s take his new year’s side story as a little example, where he successfully did a kendama trick for the first time

i love how my first thought was “HE'S SO HAPPY” when i read this story. the subtle excited tremors in his voice and throat with each syllable... the rising pitch when he finally acknowledges it... the emotions portrayed of that first time disbelief when he said できた… (no exclaimation) all the way to when he really saw that he did it with his own eyes できたぞ！the addition of ぞ adds weight into his excitement.

anyways i don't know if you can hear it but the excited tremors in his voice... (that usually only happens when we are EXTREMELY excited and full of adrenaline) it adds so much realism... its not something that can be done on command easily... it breathes so much life into toya's purehearted innocence at even the smallest things.

a good way to describe it: sort of like in english, when we get really excited and go "oh↓ my→ god↑↑", the subtle vocal tremors in the vowel sounds as your pitch rises, the emphasis on the ending consonant sounds. it is exactly that but in japanese. for toya its especially obvious in the "te ga furuteiru" line. you can really hear the vocal tremors and a bit of slurring for the both hard and soft syllables.
