((so after realizing how much effort would be put into making a sideblog only to be devoid of some features, I decided it better to just make a whole new main blog - bear with me, I’ll have it ready in a second!))

(( I’m not gonna lie, my muse for Azelf recently has been very... underwhelming. I’m probably going to make a new blog, and I’ll link it when it’s done! It’s going to be a side-blog so bear with me on that >>; ))

“Aha, thanks,” he’d rub his head, bashful. Was what he did really so outstanding?

Well, it was special to him, so maybe that was enough. “I sure do. Going on a Pokemon Journey’s really great, for all of that.”

“Huh… Where do I start. Well, after we all took care of Team Galactic, we got back to traveling and challenging Pokemon Leagues. You remember Brock, right? He decided to go home to become a Pokemon Doctor. Dawn became a Top Coordinator, and I made it into the league Hall of Fame!”

“Really now? That’s wonderful!” If there was anything that Azelf could definitely entice himself with, it was the very nature of willful individuals such as Ash. His skills in battle and his many, many adventures have not only made him grow as a trainer, but as a person as well. And to hear his friends did just as well brought a smile to the elf’s features!

“ To think that you and your friends came so far in such little time.. or at least, comparatively. I’m a lot older than you, so a few years is nothing to me anymore - but that’s still impressive, nonetheless! I’m very proud of you and your friends. “

“Hopefully trouble didn’t also decide to follow you, did it?”

“Uxie? Is that you?”

When Azelf called for Uxie and theirselves to have a meeting, they hardly expected them to arrive in their human-like form. It was a surprise, in all honesty, that they didn’t just use their psychic capabilities to teleport here. But, they wouldn’t judge.

Besides, the lands of Sinnoh are quite graceful to walk through on a good day.

“Forgive me for having you travel all this way - I would have expected you to simply teleport here, but that’s not the reason I called you here.”

“I wanted to ask you if you’ve noticed any abnormal humans arriving at your lakes? Particularly ones of.. interest?”

Meeting with her siblings, at most, rare. After all, Uxie did have to travel all the way to the southernmost parts of Sinnoh to see either of them, which was a pain to do on two legs. Of course, she could go into her natural form and be able to do it more often, but for her own reasons, she much preferred the more humanlike form she had taken. Plus, there was always the chance that one or both of them were away for some Arceus-known reason. Nevertheless, Uxie made her way to Lake Valor.

“Azelf,” she called out, “I better not have made all of this distance for absolutely nothing.”

“Yeah, it has been a while, huh?” He wasn’t sure how legendary pokemon viewed time; wasn’t he told that the Lake Spirits had been created eons ago?

Whatever that meant. Ash couldn’t really comprehend it.

“Things’ve been on the up and up, yeah!” He replied, chipper. “A lot of wild stuff happened between then and now, but we’ve kept ourselves pretty busy.”

The concept of time was a finicky thing for one as old as Azelf - it was hard to imagine exactly how many memories they had - but every day was a new day for Azelf, so it never felt repetitive.

Of course, that would also mean making something new out of every day, and that included re-visiting old friends.

“That’s no surprise. From what I know, you’re the type of guy that likes to battle and train and have fun with all of your Pokemon. I respect that, truthfully. Seeing adventure in everything is a good way to view life, especially when there’s so much to explore.”

“What sort of wild stuff happened with you?”

“Azelf!” Now, that was a surprise.“I am, yeah. We met before, remember?”

‘Met’ was a rather mundane way of saying ‘confronted the apocalypse together,’ but details were details.

“Ah! You’re correct! We have met before, now that I think about it! Goodness, it’s been so long, my mind’s already racing towards other experiences and possibilities.”

“How have you been, Ash? Good, I hope?”

A smile immediately grew upon their little face as they swiftly swirled in the air in excitement. They remembered this human, now! He was a very special one, indeed - stood out from most other trainers and humans out there, as well! The boy sure did have lots of experience.

Lucas was surprised by the lake guardian’s sudden approach, nearly dropping the camera he was holding in the lake. It wasn’t hard to notice that, due to a few issues with defective equipment, the researcher was doing a lot of jury-rigging to get his studies done.

“Ah… Hello. Didn’t see you there.” He replied with a curt bow, unsure on how he should address the deity speaking with him. “This isn’t how tripods are supposed to be handled,” he punctuated his speech by gesturing to the tool next to him, “But I don’t think that I’ll get hurt. Thanks for the concern, though.”

They couldn’t help themselves, truly - seeing the human fiddling around with such expensive-looking equipment in such an unprofessional manner made that elf think that if he wasn’t careful, he’d wind up losing said equipment in whatever natural disaster was waiting for it. Still, they did not berate the man, for he seemed quite intent on doing whatever he was doing.

Floating up-side down, Azelf would take a closer look at the man’s equipment, a hand tapping their chin in thought as their tails flicked in an almost playful manner. Still, though, their expression remained mostly neutral.

“If you do not mind me asking, what are you doing here? With all that equipment, I take it you’re some sort of researcher, no?”

“How odd... I could have sworn I’ve seen your face somewhere before... perhaps on a screen?”

“You wouldn’t happen to be the human known as ‘Ash,’ would you?”

Spook here, with YET ANOTHER (they can’t control themselves clearly) blog, this time a gijinka Uxie. Because Sinnoh remakes need to happen and the world could always use more lake children.

“I seek nothing, so do not fret over it. I was only offering you a jape. Indeed, do RUE the day when I come to YOU for such a thing - by then I will have truly lost touch with reality. However, human beings grow all the more foolish the more the gods exist in their mythos - and in the realms above. That is the reality, I suppose.”

I tap my fingers against my cheek, listening to Azelf go on and on. Indeed, there was some truth to their words - something insightful, in fact, that was LACKING in some of the other gods in this world. Perhaps it was the aspect of neutrality - the lack of interest in the subject, or even the curt way they had put it.

“Feh, how correct you are. Human beings indeed like to have things go their way. But some are so reliant on those they FEEL can help them with that singular goal in life that there is absolutely no agency whatsoever in their actions! Tell me, Azelf…”

I adjust the cuff of my sleeve, delicately playing with the frills, and tighten my hand into a fist.

“Does that not disgust you, as the symbol of willpower? You said so yourself - you are not a wizard. And yet - does it not ANNOY YOU the more these moronically-minded fools come to you, ASKING FOR YOU TO BLESS THEM WITH SOMETHING YOU CANNOT GIVE?”

They listened quietly to her words, taking in and acknowledging every manner of disgust and distaste she held towards humans - this was not uncommon, they thought. Gods often grew tired of constantly handling mortal affairs, and others opted to stay far out of it, well out of reach of its influence. However, her distaste was a bit more personal, they felt - they could practically taste the embers in the air that flared when she brought upon her points, acknowledging humans with such vibrant hatred that it almost made Azelf want to retort immediately.

Almost.

“ Surprisingly to you, perhaps, it does not. I do not see humans as something as all-knowing and knowledgeable as us deities. They are simple creatures, reliant on knowledge that is passed down from generation to generation. Unlike Pokemon, their instincts are so varied that one human can either develop into a well-educated scholar, a hearty and brave knight, or an absolute madman capable of such terrible and mass-spread harm.”

After all, as the representation of a human trait, they were naturally fond of most humans, and saw them as creatures that were not meant to be embedded with the knowledge that exceeds them as though it were instinct, but to be graced upon it when encountering such a truth with hard work and dedication.

“That is the single consequence we - my siblings and I - have acknowledged about human-kind. Often-times there will be humans meeting with Uxie, seeking knowledge, or Mespirit, seeking the meaning to their emotions or perhaps obtaining them.”

“But, like I said earlier, we do not grant wishes. We are only capable of passing down what we know, just as humans are. For such a reason, that is why I am not disgusted by their acts.”

“ What DOES disgust me, is a clear lack of awareness when confronting a deity or even an embodiment of something just like myself. Humankind, while learning, is prone to becoming ignorant towards what could be considered common sense.”

“ I take it such ignorance has harmed you in the Past.. Lady Ho-Oh?”

“My sweet Azelf, good day to you. Truth be told, I have been… travelling, a bit, and decided to make a stop at your lake. What have you to offer me in terms of willpower? Is that not what you embody? And if so…”

“Why has it been lacking in the humans of our world?”

“ You seek Willpower from me, is that it? That is unsurprising, Ho-Oh - I get many humans coming to my lake seeking the exact same thing. Unfortunately it seems many humans tend to lack such spiritual perseverance within their person - but I never would have imagine you’d stop by seeking something like that.”

At her last statement, Azelf let out a thoughtful hum, flicking their tail as they floated gently around the lady.

“ Humans are a race of very whimsical creatures - so many of them vary in shape and form, and all of them carry with them such unique mindsets, but in the end it seems that many come to adopt a trend that will suit them better for their own survival. “

“ In this case a lack of willpower is very likely due to the fact that it’s been made acceptable by tradition - I merely embody the aspect of it, Lady Ho-Oh - I can not magically force people to become strong-willed.”

“ I am a guide, not a wizard.”

“Well, hmmm… maybe you can look for one of Dialga’s shrines, then! As for the question…”

“Jii hii hii, I imagine it boils down to a fair bit of will and a lot of time!”

Was that a pun? ... Well, if it was, it earned a small smile from the Willpower Pokemon.

“Perhaps I will - it’d probably be easier to have one made by the one who made yours than to ask some random clueless human to do it for me.”

A hand is lifted up to their face, gently tapping against their cheek in thought.

“Say- do you have a name? I know you’re a Jirachi, but I like to check to make sure whether or not you’d go by any other name.”

“Yep! You wouldn’t think an Empoleon would be good at… well, anything requiring any measure of finesse like that, but they pulled it off.”

“Ehehe, thank you. I bet you could find one too!”

“Finding one might not be as easy as one would think - while I am welcoming to most humans that tread near my lake, I don’t often find myself shopping at their local stores for dresses made especially for me.”

“... although it would be nice.”

“How DID an Empoleon make that, anyways? It looks so good, I can’t imagine such a thing being easy with flippers!”

“Dialga’s Shrine-keeper? Thats... quite interesting, actually. I didn’t know their shrine-keeper specialized in clothing.”

“That being said, it does look good on you. It definitely fits you.”

Lowkey jealous that they don’t have a dress as pretty as that one, now. Or any at all, for that matter.
