Forty something fangirl. I have no theme. I post random stuff. Mostly reblogs. I write fanfic and am mostly known for this. I have been around since the dark ages of the internet. I am a fandom grandma. But very friendly. Give me some indication you're not a bot and I'll probably follow you back. ANY random solicitations for money/charity through my inbox will be blocked.

It seems like the older I get, the more irrationally angry casual censorship makes me. And it isn't just the "unalive" "grape" alleged filter-dodging vernacular, but the way normal words will be peppered with asterisks, or screenshots will have words like "gay" "hell" "fuck" etc either partially or entirely blurred. Who is this helping? What is the purpose of it, except to reinforce shame and elevate a flimsy perception of purity and safety, however those things manifest. It's so tiresome and I'm sick of it.

Oooh, a VM request. Hopefully, @copperarsenite, this suffices...
It's been a while since I've been in that fandom, but something that is springing to mind, right this very second (and honestly, it will probably change moment to moment, because my brain works that way, but... for this very second?). Probably the paragraph from Molasses & Taffy that talks about the names.
It's set pretty far towards the end of the fic. In Chapter 12. When Veronica is talking to Keith about the rape. After a very emotional weekend, after the whole rooftop thing. It's... been a lot... for everyone. And then this...
"I love you, Dad, I love you so much." She doesn't know what she's saying anymore. "You stayed, you stayed and you're the only one that did and you're the reason I made it. I couldn't have done it without you."
She is Veronica Mars, named for a saint bearing a bloody cloth, Vera being truth and Icon being image, Mars being an angry red planet named for a god of war and she got both from him. Every part of her is Keith Mars and his strength has made her the true image of a war survivor.
He chose her name and he shaped her life.
He isn't named for a saint; he's named for a forest, a place of battle. And Lianne is, Lianne is a saint of the sun and also a martyr. A martyr of a war she wasn't strong enough to fight, but a saint all the same.
And it suddenly doesn’t matter that for three years that same woman has done nothing but hurt her, hurt them both, Veronica is hurled into memories of soft blonde hair stretched through the bristles of a brush and bright smiles and a voice smooth like warmed honey drizzled over hot pancakes calling her sweetheart and giggling about boys. She’s left aching for the woman who sat with her in front of the mirror when she was nine, gently wiping the circles of deep purple from around her eyes with a moistened cloth and keeping a straight face before whispering the secrets of how a lady applies makeup.
She is Veronica Mars and she owes everything to her father.
"I love you, Dad, I do." She whispers desperately, feeling like a five year old scared of monsters in the closet. "But sometimes I want my mommy back."

Hey, @copperarsenite (I wasn't ignoring you, I promise... I had to sleep, then wake up and work my job... blame capitalism, not me).
Onto the questions!!
2. What is your favorite paragraph from (insert story title you want to know about here, or leave it blank for writer’s choice)? Is there a reason it’s your favorite?
Well, you left this blank, so... writer's choice! (which makes it so much harder).
I have written so many paragraphs in my fic writing career. Honestly, there's too many to choice from. And you've really put me on the spot by not even naming a fic... or even a fandom to narrow it down.
It depends on my mood, really. There are some paragraphs I really like because they're funny or amusing or set up a joke. It's the light heartedness, the banter, the play that makes me smile.
Then there are paragraphs that are profound and sit with you for a while.
Or the devastating ones.
Do I want to cry or laugh or think?
*I* think that you need to get back to me and give me at least a fandom to narrow it down to, preferably even a fic I can choose.
7. Share a line or paragraph you’ve written that you don’t think will ever actually be posted in anything! (Or, if you don’t hoard cut sentences and passages like I do, share anything you want that has yet to see the light of day!)
Ok. This is going to make me look really bad, because I can't really answer this one either. I post what I write. I don't keep what I cut out.
The entire fic of D5 began as a document called "what I won't post"... and well, look how that turned out?
I do have a fic "The Girl In the Mirror", the first four chapters of which can still be found on LJ, that never transferred to AO3. It was a crossover between Veronica Mars and Heroes (taking advantage of Kristen Bell appearing in both) and had some really good writing in it. Alas, 'twas never finished, hence why it didn't transition over. I had the next chapter half written and I REALLY liked what I'd written for that. That will probably never see the light of day. However, that is on my old computer and I'd have to hunt it down. It's a lot of effort for a fic that I am fairly sure nobody but me cares about.
There's a few little pieces of LJ fiction that never crossed over to AO3 from my old fandoms, one shots for kink bingo, and unfinished fics, and the like.
As for my most recent fandoms, I've posted what I've written (or I am planning to post what I am writing, as in the current chapter of Foolish Game and the current chapter of Rock the Cradle).
I am really excited for readers to see the scene between Olivia and Lindstrom in the next Foolish Games chapter because there is some pretty hard hitting insights into that, but also I don't want to post that before the chapter is posted.
I haven't written much for Rock the Cradle, BUT, I have planned a few really intense scenes and the action is gonna start to heat up from this next chapter onwards (it's been pretty smooth sailing up to now).
I am sorry I haven't been more forthcoming.
Now, let me know which fic you want for question 2!!

explain your gender in 10 words or less without using boring words like “male”, “female”, “nonbinary”, “masculine”, “feminine” or “androgynous”.
go!

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

Another thing fandom needs to start doing more of is projecting on tops.
There are delicious amounts of psychological distress you can inflict on that guy once you get into his head. The brainworms of forcing agency and initiative on someone who genuinely is Not Fucking Ready For It are exquisite.

Hey @dahllaz, cool questions!
3. What is the most amount of research you’ve done for the smallest detail? What was the detail and how much time/effort went into researching it?
Well, recently, probably the research I did for D5. I did a lot of date planning, and plotted the weather calendar around Shanendoah near the Appalachians to know when it was raining/thunder/storm/sun over the months of May/June/July in 2013. Also the address of the fake hospital in SVU and what shops would/wouid not surround it to ensure there was a Target nearby... as well as the route to the museum. All of these details were not vital to the fic, they went into throwaway lines. It would have worked with or without the research and a spot of suspension of disbelief.
Once, for a fic, I researched the language of flowers and had a whole document with their definitions so I could write coded messages through my fic.
Another time, I created a whole separate document that was a diary, logged entries of a science experiment, and character sheets. It was very details and a LOT of effort went into it.
5. Is there a tiny detail in one of your fics that you feel goes tragically unnoticed?
All the time. As far as I know. I do put things into fic and sometimes I think people will see it, but nobody mentions it. So maybe they have seen it, but it's just not mentioned in comments.
In D5, the little side romance of the agents on the ground floor of the secure apartment amused me greatly. It's barely even mentioned, but they have secret little night dates and are always together, so if you're paying attention you can see it. In my head, after D5, the gang were invited to their wedding.
Other small things, like repeating language. For example, in Wicked Game, when Olivia has the panic attack in her apartment, she struggles to breathe, Elliot says to her "you just need to breathe" and in her mind it's... like she doesn't know that.
It's repeated in Foolish Game when they're speaking about his kids and Olivia is holding her breath and Elliot says again "just breathe" and she thinks again ... like she doesn't fucking know that.
When Elliot thinks "all she asks of him is things he doesn't want to give", that's repeated.
The mentions of Dean Porter where Elliot thinks "fuck that guy".
They're all repeated.
There is actually A LOT of repetitions like that. But I'm not sure it's noticed.
When Olivia has the sex dream in Foolish Game, it's a quote directly from a sex scene in Wicked Game. (I mean, it's basically just his nickname repeated, but that's the dialogue from the scene). So, her sex dream is basically just a sex memory and the readers can figure out which if they really wanted.

I am very stressed about a thing that I can’t discuss right now that I have literally no control over, so here’s some
fanfic writer asks
that I came up with all on my own. Ask ‘em, share ‘em, do whatever.
Have you pulled inspiration from media sources other than the property your fic is related to (a plot point from a TV show that has nothing to do with the characters/setting of the fic, a line from a book, etc.)? If so, for which story? Why did you find that media source compelling?
What is your favorite paragraph from (insert story title you want to know about here, or leave it blank for writer’s choice)? Is there a reason it’s your favorite?
What is the most amount of research you’ve done for the smallest detail? What was the detail and how much time/effort went into researching it?
Share a headcanon about (character name) in (story title)!
Is there a tiny detail in one of your fics that you feel goes tragically unnoticed?
What is your favorite type of feedback to receive (favorites/kudos, comments, DMs, complete and utter silence in the pursuit of remaining unperceived?)? If comments or DMs or anything else involving a reader writing, do you have a particular type of feedback that excites you more than other types?
Share a line or paragraph you’ve written that you don’t think will ever actually be posted in anything! (Or, if you don’t hoard cut sentences and passages like I do, share anything you want that has yet to see the light of day!)
Is there a story idea you have that you would love if it could appear fully realized but that you do not think you’ll ever write yourself?
Do you prefer to read angst or fluff? Which do you prefer to write?
If you could banish a single trope to live at the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again by any human eyes (or at least your own), which trope would that be?
Conversely, if you had to pick a single trope to read for the next seven-and-half years, which trope would that be?
What are your thoughts on slow burn romances?
Are you secretly Tara Gilesbie aka XXXbloodyrists666XXX aka author of infamous Harry Potter fanfiction serial My Immortal? (you can trust me; I won’t tell anyone, pinky promise)
Has anyone ever created anything (art, a podfic, another fic, etc.) inspired by your work? Which work? How did you feel about that?
Is there any genre, trope, or style that you find particularly challenging to write? Do you enjoy the challenge or prefer to avoid it?
Is there a commonly held misconception about one of your stories that you’d like to correct for the masses?
What does your editing process look like?
Share a headcanon relating to (insert desired theme here)!
What was the very first fanwork you ever created? (I’m talking like maybe you made a little book out of construction paper and staples with your favorite Disney characters drawn in it when you were five years old or you drew a comic about a movie you saw when you were a preteen. That sort of thing.)
Is there anything about any one of your fics that you have been dying to discuss but haven’t had the chance to?
