Yes I'm glad we're talking about this! I'm so grossed out by the ballet teachers I had throughout the years that didn't allow girls to wear shorts over a leo. It's so ridiculous.

ever since I found out that even the goddamn VAGANOVA allows students to wear trashbag shorts and even sit out of class and watch if they're on their period I've been so angry at my "No underwear allowed!! and leotards only no skirts!!" studio like bro who do we think we are. our biggest glory was a starpower regionals and this is the hill you wanna die on??

What really gets me about the bday video is the end where Isabella, Diana and Cali are all front/center and Winter is barely in the shot. P21 stans can come @ me with the "putting your best kids in front is not favoritism" argument, but this is not a competition piece, this is a video specifically about the birthdays

Stella Fisk is such a standout to me in all of the summer intensive combos. Her musicality and movement quality have gotten so good.

sometimes teachers/students dont mesh well and not in a drama sense in a teaching style ≠ learning style

this is how i was at my home studio I didn't improve as a dancer from probably 7th grade to senior year becuase the training style didn't serve me even tho i loved the environment for the most part

and with that i didn't get "good" until college where the teachers at my school tought in a way that better served me personally but not everyone has that experience same w my home studio theres so much talent there

anyways im making this post to say when these dancers switch studios its not always about personal issues between the child and their teacher it just could simply be the teacher and the students learning/teaching styles are different and when thats the case and speaking as a teacher we unfortunately can not help the student to improv which is always the end goal

Also, the way some p21 stans on here talk, you'd think outside of like, 5 dancers, everyone else there was terrible and every dance would place badly if they were put in the front, like 😭

Anyway I'm so excited to see Olivia shine somewhere else! She deserves to be somewhere she is valued and appreciated, not overlooked. Having a teacher that is invested in you and pushes you is so important for a young dancer. I love watching her dance and can't wait to see how she will continue to improve at dkcba!
