The Bachelor Beaumaris, 7.3

I got tired of the hollering and decided to make them all go do something fun, viz. dancing.

Gregory and Marie-Claude had a wonderful dance.

Amalie dipped Gregory, which was very cute!

Poor Vivian trod on Gregory's toes when they slow-danced. She did it so much I cut their dances short early...

Even Mathilde enjoyed herself, despite worrying about burglars while Gregory danced with Vivian.

And now, the final scores for day 7.

Mathilde: 76.0

Marie-Claude: 70.1

The Bachelor Beaumaris, 7.2

Emboldened by his success at "yelling at women indoors," Gregory continues on this tack. Somehow, the ladies continue to find this charming!

Gregory: I consider myself in good health, though I suppose I can always improve my condition. But I'm not one of those gentlemen who goes to Bath and spends weeks drinking from the various springs.

Gregory: But I have to say that the tronies are quite marvellous; they're much more lively than the old masters' portraits. If you've seen one woman in a millstone ruff looking boredly out the window, you've seen them all, I think.

Gregory: And they always say "never talk with pins in your mouth," as if you're going to leap from the measuring-stand and shove their pincushion into your mouth.

Gregory: I must say I don't care for fringe on a tricorne, but the Spanish ladies have quite stylish fringe trimmings on their bonnets. Ursula's been saving up for one, though I don't know what use it will be in her trosseau.

Gregory: And then apparently something very nasty happened in Vienna, at the opera-house, and Linus refused to ever go to the theater ever again. I don't understand it myself, something about a cannon?

Gregory (thinking): Why did Nurse ever tell me I was to use my indoor voice? This is going quite smashingly!

The Bachelor Beaumaris, 7.1

Gregory and the ladies continue conversing, though Gregory chooses to stand in one spot and shout at everyone as if he's calling a square dance.

Gregory: Ladybirds are one of my favorite beetle.

Gregory: And then I realized why Cook told us never to touch hot pans.

Gregory: We never had an orangerie before. I think it's capital!

Gregory: Of course, it really was a pity that great-uncle Maurice had to die...

Gregory: I wanted to see the dancing bear, but Venetia was concerned that Ursula might wander off and get mauled...

Gregory: ...and the perch fishing is really quite phenomenal once you find a good spot...

Somehow, nobody considers this rude.

This weekend, having sulked sufficiently and licked my proverbial wounds, I'm going to try and finish the gameplay portion of the Bachelor Beaumaris.

I have to be honest and admit that I am not really feeling motivated to play the Bachelor Challenge save. I'm feeling worried that it's not as polished as other people's gameplay saves...that it's not making any sense...and that I'm hurting people's feelings if their sims don't progress.

I know this is all petty whining, but I also am forcing myself to be honest. I also want to keep this going and actually finish something...it's just hard!!!! very hard!!! for no reason!!!

The next morning, the ladies-and-Gregory assemble in the orangerie. Gregory's mind is on Amalie!

Mathilde is perturbed by the skittles games behind her.

Gregory: What do you think...about an old-fashioned country dance? I'm quite fond of brantles, myself.

There was a flirtatious joke, the speech bubble of which involved nachos (????), but I was too slow to capture it.

Gregory: Anyways, it was a sou, maybe a sou and a half, and I got an entire score... Mathilde (thinking): He's going to have a house filled with sheet-music if nobody stops him.

Gregory: (flirtatious joke about roses here.)

Gregory: You have such a wonderful smile, Vivian! Vivian: (thinking) These persimmons oranges sure are artistic.

Gregory: (flirtatious joke involving a newspaper here.)

Gregory: (thinking) ...and the horseless carriage should be red. Red as you ever saw red. And I'd kick up the dust... Gregory: Amalie, do you know any songs about cookery-books?

Gregory: (thinking) Don't give up the ghost yet, chap! Faint heart never won fair lady. Gregory: (insert flirtatious joke about a feather duster--really, Gregory, there are ladies present--here)

I promised this because it amuses me.

The Bachelor Beaumaris: Maybe Babies, 3 of 6

Gosh, we're almost half-done here. Time flies. What if Gabrielle and Gregory had married and had children?

Presenting Felix, Marguerite, and Robert Beaumaris with their parents.

Felix looks like Gregory, but there's just a hint of their mother to him. Marguerite looks like Gabrielle, but with darker hair. Robert looks exactly like Gabrielle, but with Gregory's nose; he also had a tragic skin accident in CAS, where everything but his face was grey, so I had to cheat and put him in Gregory's skin. Had this not happened, he would have inherited Gabrielle's HD Primer.

The Bachelor Beaumaris, 6.4

Gregory doesn't cut a terribly impressive figure in this pose.

Gregory: So please, ladies, if I don't give you a rose, really, it's not so personal that you need to instigate a duel!

Our last shot of the fab five! Who will remain...and who will find a thorn in their bouquet?

Mathilde gets red roses, in an inversion, for winning the challenge so handily. She looks a little like a Gibson Girl here!

I neglected to pause in time to screencap Marie-Claude getting her roses, but she did indeed get them.

Vivian gives her roses a good sniff! As if she hasn't gotten roses before in her life. (Even I haven't gotten as many flowers as the ladies have in the past week.)

And Amalie receives hers. She's so cute like this. They all are, really! I'm not playing favorites! That's Gregory's job.

Gabrielle: Oh...I suppose there's no baby's breath for me tonight? Gregory: No, I'm afraid not. I hate having these conversations! I would rather talk about sensational novels with you. But I'm afraid, lovely though you are, we just aren't compatible enough. When you get into your contemplative moods, it's nearly impossible to get through to you, and I have grown to understand you enough to know that I can't ask you to change that. (1) I am truly sorry, and I hope in time we can be friends.

Gabrielle: I must admit, having the prospect of an engagement dangled before me and then dashed is quite daunting. I think it'll take some time before I can see you as a friend--but I regret, sincerely, not being able to pursue our friendship further. I think we would have complemented each other well. Gregory: (thinking) If I'd never inherited this house, none of this would be happening.

Tune in tomorrow for our third (!) round of maybe babies and a decompression day!

(1) Gabrielle is brooding. She often-in a flurry of clipped skirts-began contemplating the hollowness of life in the midst of a challenge. Gregory isn't against a thoughtful wife, especially since he's aware he's not as cultured as the Mr. Darcy type of a later era and would look to his partner as an intellectual companion and resource, but I think he simply wasn't prepared for that!

Methodology

Scores are determined by using NRAAS->Master Controller->Advanced->Long-Term Relationships By Value->Active Family, and then clicking the desired sim. I then copy the exact value into a notepad document. I round to the nearest tenth, or the nearest twentieth if the scores are very similar. Any rounding errors are mine.

Amalie is in the lead, at 60.3.

Mathilde is in second place, at 52.4.

Vivian is in third place, at 52.0.

Marie-Claude is in fourth place, at 48.5.

Gabrielle is in last place, at 45.0.

The Bachelor Beaumaris, 6.2

Gregory: Amalie, I just noticed you and Gabrielle do your hair the same way! Isn't that funny? Gabrielle: (thinking) We've been here for a week. How has he not noticed that?

Gregory: I could go in for some hand-holding myself. Amalie: (thinking) Is fifteen too low a score? Should I practice more?

Gregory: I am glad you got the mud out of your dress! You all fell so often I was beginning to feel guilty.

Gregory: I have heard there's a league of skittles-players in the next town; perhaps you ought to consider...joining them? You did so well!

Vivian: I think it's entirely possible to fall in love at first sight. I don't know if you'd know that you fell in love, though...

The very half-done frankenmesh looks okay, but the mapping is a bit out of it. I may instead do a much plainer skirt texture.

The Bachelor Beaumaris, 6.1

Leisure Day (!) dawns, and a new challenge appears...skittles.

Of course, it's pouring rain.

Gregory: It's...a summertime staple...beer and skittles! But we don't have any beer. So instead we have skittles.

The ladies face off: Mathilde and Marie-Claude, the M-and-Ms as I've started calling them, against each other; Gabrielle by herself; Vivian and Amalie against each other. There's a lot of face-planting; perhaps the grass is a bit muddy for this activity?

Mathilde, surprisingly, has the highest score: 72.

Gabrielle has the second-highest score: 33.

Coming in third is Marie-Claude, at 23.

Vivian is at fourth place, with 18.

And Amalie finishes with 15 points!
