I’m sad that DWJ never wrote a book with grown-up Morgan Hatter-Pendragon in it. Can you imagine what a holy fucking terror that kid must have grown up to be.

Hey y'all! It's been like a week since I finished Only A Monster by Vanessa Len and I am still absolutely reeling from how unique and good that was. Anyways making a "Aaron Oliver Support Squad" as we speak!

Type Map for Never a Hero by Vanessa Len 🕰️
WOW this book is incredible. There’s so much going on that I wanted to include in this artwork aside from words: beautiful Joan, time travel, different years, a winged lion, the Hunt symbol, Eleanor’s sigil and a feeling of uncertainty over the unknown. The ending truly blew my mind and I cannot wait for the next book!
Also, I 🖤 Aaron, but Eleanor must be stopped.

Lightly men talk of saying what they mean. Often when he was teaching me to write in Greek the Fox would say, "Child, to say the very thing you mean, the whole of it, nothing more or less or other than what you really mean; that's the whole art and joy of words." A glib saying. When the time comes to you at which you will be forced at last to utter the speech which has lain at the center of your soul for years, which you have, all that time, idiot-like, been saying over and over, you'll not talk about the joy of words. I saw well why the gods do not speak to us openly, nor let us answer. Till that word can be dug out of us, why should they hear the babble that we think we mean? How can they meet us face to face till we have faces?
...Too frequently we get only bits and pieces of this core quote from C. S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces—not the whole thing; and sometimes (in at least a couple of online quote sources) mistranscribed from its original, with words changed or dropped out. it''s long past time to post it correctly and in its entirety.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik is fantastic. Weaves together a few stories and common fairytale elements, fantastic read.

All that comes to mind is Till We Have Faces, sorry

I recently read the Marrain Chronicles, by Anne B. Walsh–a series of linked short stories, mainly available on Kindle–and they’d definitely fit the bill! She likes turning plots on their heads sometimes, but not in an aggravating way. (Her novel Homecoming might qualify, too–it’s only *kind of* a Cinderella twist, but it is full of magic and family and other good things and.. w really like it.)
*well, I really like it

The Flight of Swans by Sarah McGuire, A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan, Entwined by Heather Dixon, Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay, Beastkeeper by Cat Hellisen, Snow White and Rose Red by Patricia C. Wrede, A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce, Toads and Diamonds by Heather Tomlinson, Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter, The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury, No Good Deed by Kara Connolly, The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman, and of course any of Robin McKinley’s.
All of these are great suggestions and have been added to my list. Thank you so much!
