The two had never much of an affectionate relationship, nor did she with Sarah, either, but a few decades apart allowed for an exception. They would be back to bickering in a few hours, perhaps even a few minutes, but for now, it was a nice change. It was a wonder how her sisters managed without her, actually, as Sarah was practically useless (not an insult, just the truth) and Mary was a bit forgetful. Winnie counted it as her own fantastic past self setting her sisters up for success. "It is," she agreed, and she was proud that they had, though Winnie wasn't that big of a sap to mention it.
"They do?" she questioned, surprised. People were quick to hang anyone who wanted to tell them their future--the Sandersons would know--and now they were paying for it? It was almost too ridiculous for Winnie to believe, until she realized that was the exact purpose of her sister's shop. "Can you imagine what our lives would've been like had they wanted spirituality three centuries ago? I'd never had spent a moment away from my dear sisters." It wasn't surprising to hear Sarah was out with some guy, some things would never change, she supposed. "Has she been hanging out with the dumb ones still? Those were always her type: the brainless. I imagine men have only grown less intelligent over the centuries."
Tumblr media
The shock hadn't completely left her, she was almost hesitant to wrap her arms around her sister, who usually wasn't one for physical touch, but if this was one of those rare times when it was fine then Mary was eager to hug Winnie back. She wasn't even that emotionally sensitive to cry very easily but just the thought of having both sisters around her again had garnered a few tears of joy. It had been far too long that she'd been without them and she was sure they'd all get sick of each other in about a few days so she was just going to cherish the nice moment as long as she could. "It's a wonder how we managed without you," she sniffled into her sister's embrace.
While she was blinking away her tears, she let Winnie walk around and take a look at the business she'd spent years curating. Already basking in her sister's approval, her smile only widened. "Thank you, it was all my doing! The people actually yearn to hear about 'spirituality' as they call it. Believe it or not but some of them think I can actually tell them their futures. It's a bit ridiculous but it's what pays the bills." She felt like there was so much to share with her older sister, two years worth of memories didn't go without its fair share of blunders which she was sure Winnie would want to laugh at. "It perfected it! Only took about two hundred years but I had to, I just knew it would be the thing to bring us together again." Just as the recalled memory of meeting Sarah had come to mind, Winnie had the same thing on her mind. "She is here! Well, not here here. Probably off again with a boy she entranced, or finding her next victim. It's hard to keep track."

Whether she was faking it or being real with her, Winifred couldn't yet tell. Maybe it was her best attempt at trying to disguise herself and her usual bratty personality, in hopes that Winnie hadn't recognized her. But, she wouldn't have forgotten the other redhead's face from anywhere, not even from when she was a much younger girl until now. "Remember that whenever a man wrongs you, young lady," she warned her. Winnie had heard that homosexuality was much more accepted these days, even celebrated, but she thought it best not to explicitly assume such a thing of someone, especially when she was trying to be inconspicuous. "They shouldn't hide such a pretty thing like you in the back. And, you seem to know what you're doing. I'll give whoever runs this establishment my word that you're a worthy employee," she added with a wink. Winnie scanned the shelves, not recognizing a singular one of the authors. Had people really fallen for such blasphemy like explicit make-believe? "Well, there is one particular book I'm looking for, quite an old one, but I don't think you'd have it here. In lieu, give me the oldest publication you have." She could only hope the publish date didn't begin with an 18 or a 19, but Winnie was growing more weary of her selection by the minute.
Tumblr media
It happened simultaneously, Winifred could tell: the two redheads recognized each other. The girl wasn't the same age as she was a decade ago, like Winnie was, but she now must have been in her twenties. If it wasn't for the sudden attack on all people magical in town, Danielle Dennison would've been quickly evaporated into thin air, brought home with Winnie to finally get around to the end of sucking the life out of her in exchange for looking like this for longer. Instead, thanks to her sisters' updates, she knew better than to identify herself immediately.
"What hasn't he done?" Winnie sighed exasperatedly, playing along with the charade the younger girl was keeping up. She could dance around the obvious, if that was what the other redhead wanted. "The usual infidelity, as to be expected of a man with his intelligence. But, the disrespect of stealing my books, too," she trailed off with a roll of her eyes, toying at the very book she'd come in search of. "Apologies--you work here? I thought I was just asking an informed-looking patron. What's your name, dear?" Winnie asked, flashing a grin as she awaited an answer she already knew.

Her youngest sister's reaction was one of much more excitement than Mary's, who had simply seemed relieved by Winnie's presence. It brought a smile to her face, knowing the two had found each other before she had been brought back herself, that they hadn't been completely alone. Now, they were unstoppable, their small coven reunited. For all her sisters could get on her very last nerve, it was Sarah and Mary whom she'd longed to be with the moment she'd found herself alive again. She felt whole again, like the power she'd lost had been restored in their presence.
"Hello, darling sister," she greeted with a grin, accepting the blonde into her wide-open arms. "Of course I found you, I am rather smart." It had taken more time than she would've liked, but it was worth it to be here, now. "I searched so many magic and psychic stores to find you both. Do you know how many frauds there are out there? It's ridiculous. A disgrace, actually, to our craft. I quite like Mary's shop, though, it'll do just fine." As she pulled away, Winnie kept her hands on her sister's shoulders, surveying her. "Just as beautiful as I remember you."
Tumblr media
Given that she has been back in the realm of the living for five years at this point, one would expect Sarah to have found a place to live for herself by now. But that person wouldn’t have known the youngest Sanderson sister all that well if they really thought her to be capable of handling a feat like that herself. No, she was perfectly happy floating around from different suitors’ bedrooms, the Hotel Transylvania, or eventually Mary’s own apartment. There was no need for her to go through the pain and trouble of figuring out how to get a place of her own. Which was why she was currently playing on her phone, laying on her sister’s bed, and waiting for the other girl to come upstairs from her business down below.
However when she finally heard the familiar call, it was in a different voice than usual, which had the blonde frowning ever so slightly. “Sister?” she called back, standing from the bed and making her way over towards the hallway. “Sister, what have you done to your voice! It has changed - were you mixing new potions again? Oh you know I want to try it as well! Please, tell me you brought me some home!” It was only once she was done with her little speech that Sarah had finally looked up and caught the sight of not Mary like she had been expecting, but the eldest of the Sandersons. Seeing Winnie alive and standing in front of her again, in the prettiest of her forms, she couldn’t hold back the scream of delight that left her mouth. “Winnie!” she shouted as she all but launched herself into the older girl’s arms. “You are alive! You have found us! Oh, I knew you would!”

It was with a smirk that Winifred watched as her sister came to the realization that she was, in fact, standing before her. It was precisely the reaction she'd been hoping for upon making her grand return. They'd never been the most affectionate of siblings, but Winnie couldn't help but wrap her arms tightly around Mary, relieved that she'd finally found her. It had only taken weeks of searching high and low around the island to get here, but every shop she'd set foot in hoping for this moment had been well worth it. "I take it I was missed?" she teased, pressing a quick kiss to the top of her sister's head.
As she set her bag on the counter, Winnie hopped up as well, making herself at home in her sister's shop. "You've found a nice spot, Mary, well done. I could get used to this." How she was affording it would be a conversation for later, after she was finished basking in the glory of being back with her sisters. "I knew it had to be you the minute I stepped in here, I'm telling you. It was the scent--you're still working on that? How long has it been now?" Long enough for Winnie to recognize it as one of Mary's signatures. "You must inform me of everything I've missed. Is Sarah with you, too?"
Tumblr media
Things had been a bit quiet, but Mary had expected that to happen before all the Halloween nerds got to creeping around the shop. This particular day had the makings of an uneventful shift, that was until an all too familiar aroma filled the air and it nearly sent Mary into a crying spell from the hurt of missing her sister. She spent so much time thinking about Winifred that she was starting to remember her scent! And then a voice rang out and Mary was just about heaving her way into one of those panicking attacks she's heard about, not only could she smell her sister but she could hear her as well! The tears were streaming well down the sides of her face but she had to force them aside as she had some pesky customer to take care of now.
Whatever the client had to say was drowned out from Mary's ears as she focused on making sure her runny nose was clear and her dampened cheeks were dried down. "Coming!" She had to make her way out from the back of the shop. Nearly knocking down a few ingredients lying around, that carried most of her attention until she caught the sight of an apparition that looked an awful lot like her sister. Shifting herself around the counter, Mary remained stunned at what she was witnessing. Her hand moved to quickly prick at the other and was shocked beyond belief to feel real skin, "Holy Mother of Satan—You're real!" Wrapping her arms around her lifelong guide, she squeezed tight as to never let her sister go away from her life ever again.

Dani bopped her head to the music coming from her headphones, fingers dancing along the shelves as she restocked some of the latest returns. Most of the time it helped her avoid any unwanted social interactions, especially those idiots who came in here having no idea what the shop even was and needed a handholding explanation through magic. Her co-worker was scheduled to work the register which meant the redhead could escape into the back for most of the day, only needing to emerge to put things in their place. "Hm?" Dani asked pulling her headphones off so that she could give the customer full attention. "Oh, those are over-" She paused suddenly, being overcome with shock upon seeing the face she'd thought was gone for years now looking like it hadn't aged a day. So far she hadn't been recognized which to the redhead meant she needed to play it cool so as to not give it away. "You know, let me just show you. What did the idiot do?" Smalltalk wasn't usually her go-to, but in this situation playing a little extra dumb was the only thing that made sense. Dani only had a short period of time to work with, their destination not being more than ten feet away and she didn't want to waste it.

who: winnie & @weirdosareout where: olde salem magic shoppe
It wasn't the best supply store Winifred had ever been to, but the magic shop she'd found in town, near Mary's own, had enough that would do, for now. She wasn't expecting to find much of her old, quality things in their own house; there must have been teenagers who'd snuck in over the years to take it from the ruins of when she assumed the two boys they'd locked up in the ceiling had been taken down. It was high time she started fresh, anyway--perhaps these new supplies would last her another three hundred years, and, by then, maybe she'd find a better place for replacement parts. Winnie was nothing without her book, of course: she had no idea where the Dennisons had hid it after they'd sent them back to the undead.
It was with the books behind a cage (likely because they were too dangerous for foolish mortals to use) that she spotted another bright red head of hair, one that reminded her a bit of herself when she was that age. "Have you seen any spell books in this section, perchance?" she asked innocently, hoping the girl would be knowledgeable enough to direct her before she had to go bother the prepubescent boy behind the counter. "I'm trying to see if I can figure out how to hex an ex-boyfriend of mine, you must understand."

who: winnie & @sandersonmary where: mary's shop
For the past few weeks, Winnie had been searching high and low for her sisters. It wasn't that there were a high number of magic shops on the island, but that it was taking her some time to get from one to the next, with how little she knew of modern transportation and the fact that she didn't have a car of her own. She's started at the tip of the island, having worked her way down to the town nearest the bigger city of the Isle. It was a small psychic shop, hardly larger than the one-room house they'd had back in Salem. But, she would leave no stone unturned: every place had to be seen with her own eyes before she moved onto the next.
A small bell rung as she opened the door, a whiff of sage all too familiar to her senses. This wasn't just any old scent burning--it was a special mix, one only she'd ever smelled after her sister had made it herself. "Mary?" she called out, knowing better than to let her smell deceive her. "Is that you?" Winnie impatiently rang the bell on the counter, hoping it would be her sister who would come around it. "If it's you, Mary Sanderson, do hurry. I've only waited a decade to see you."

who: winnie & @blondiesanderson where: mary's apartment
Winnie had always considered herself the smart one of her three sisters, which explained the speed with which she was able to find them. There were only a select number of magic shops on the island, and, after finally finding Mary working at one of them, she was directed to her apartment, where her youngest sister was staying for the time being. She could already tell before even stepping into the place that it was going to be far too small for the three of them, especially with the space Winnie needed to practice with her spell book once she found it.
"Sister?" she called out as she opened the door, having the key Mary had given her around her wrist. "Are you home? Come, while I make my grand entrance," Winnie demanded, a smirk on her lips as she waited for the blonde to emerge from the bedroom. Dropping her bags, Winnie outstretched her arms, her mouth in a wide smile. "'Tis I, returned from the dead!" she exclaimed, announcing her presence ceremoniously. "Come here, give your sister a hug after all these years, won't you?"

Name: Winifred "Winnie" Sanderson Age: Three hundred and thirty seven Thirty-five Occupation: Performer Sexuality: Pansexual Pronouns: She/Her Big Three: Scorpio sun, Aries moon, Libra rising
Headcanons:
The eldest of the Sanderson sisters, Winifred took looking after her younger sisters very seriously, especially after their mother passed away and their father spent most of his time working. Though she was about to marry John Pritchett the moment she turned sixteen, looking after Mary and Sarah had always been much more important to her than fulfilling what the church wanted of her. That, and John was kind of ugly, anyway. Her real sights had been set on one Billy Butcherson, but Winifred doesn't like to discuss how that ended. She's still bitter about it to this day.
Their happened-upon witch mother came at a time when the girls had needed her the most: the Sanderson sisters had been exiled, and they were looking for a new home to call their own. Winifred felt some of the responsibility come off her for the first time in her life, and it was the safety with their coven that kept the sisters safe for decades.
Emily Binx had been a necessary sacrifice for them to stay alive, even if the girl had led to their first death. Winnie doesn't really regret what happened to the girl--she was better off dead than alive, anyway, in the kind of society they were raised in. Thackery had been sacrificed as more of a personal vendetta, a joke, really, though Winifred only slightly regrets this after how much annoyance he'd caused them a few decades ago.
The Dennisons and their little blonde friend had been the sisters' only hope of staying alive after they were brought back one Halloween night not too long ago. Though he'd brought them back from the dead, Max had also been the one who'd sent them back to the grave, and that's something Winnie won't soon forget. She blames him, and the stupidity of her sisters, for the failure that had been that particular Halloween. Winifred would've had it all handled had it not been for how miserably her sisters had failed and the leap of an adjustment to modern technology the trio had had to make.
Though she largely considers her encounter with the Dennisons and Allison a failure, one good thing did come out of it: Winnie had managed to put a curse on the two girls before she'd been burst into smithereens. Allison and Dani would become witches one day, once Winifred came back to life. Call it blind luck, or belief in herself, but Winnie had a feeling she'd be back, and so too would the powers she'd placed on the two girls when they were children.
It was only recently that Winnie had been brought back to join her sisters beyond the grave again. Once the borders to Echo Isle had opened, something had shifted, letting the possibility for magic as strong as the sisters' combined to thrive. It was once the border opened that Winifred found herself Earth-side again, rising from the cemetery where the Dennisons had banished her thirty years ago. It's only been a few weeks, and she's still getting used to how much has changed from the last time she'd appeared until now. Now that she's back on the island, Winnie has focused all of her efforts on finding her sisters, though it's quite difficult when she doesn't own any of the modern technology to contact them. She did hear about some big festival a few weeks ago though, from the newspapers, and she's hoping they might come across each other at something like that soon. Otherwise, she'll continue the search until she's reunited with them and her spellbook.
It's not in the same way as Sarah's, but Winnie's singing voice can, and does, charm people. She's found that her audience can essentially react however she'd like them to when she's performing. Though she's only publicly performed twice since she was killed the first time, Winnie's working on honing in on her hypnosis power through declaring herself a singer. It would be easy to make a living as a performer if she could simply hex all of her audience to come back the next time she sings. It seems the sisters can't make it far these days without a steady paycheck, and Winnie has a feeling neither of her sisters will be the one to step up and bring home the bank for them.
