~ Maestro Luly ~ WIP

Some facts about Luly as an OC in the One Piece world::

born as a noble on a north blue island called Cantabella

art is prestige on Cantabella and Luly's family represents the "prestige pillar of music"

his powers are all about music/musical manipulation and he was given his devil fruit power at age 8 not to become stronger, but to be a novelty -> the conductor who doesn't need musicians to play orchesras

Luly loves music, but feels what he creates is empty. When he accidentally gets to the port as a child and hears sailors sing 'Binks' Sake' with crooked voices and broken instruments Luly fell in love with the concept of 'being part of something'

Luly escapes his golden cage & joins doffy at age 17

is later betrayed by Doffy, forced to work for WG

becomes a RA member after Dragon saves his ass

Adopts a kid named Blaze

While doing business for the RA Luly meets Marco the Phoenix during a very embarrassing encounter, which causes Marco to henceforth only call Luly 'Hwueh'

Some more info about why I named him Luly van Kalayan and what the inspiration for his name was under the cut:

Luly Fun Fact ::

His name is inspired by two conductors that existed irl

Luly -> Jean-Baptiste Lully :: a conductor who worked for Ludwig the 14th and who died by hitting his own toe with his baton too hard once

van Kalayan -> von Karajan :: famous austrian modern conductor

I decided to take one L away from Lully to make it more visually distinct from Luffy (which I realized the similarity only AFTER falling in love with the name Luly - pronounced french) and change the last name slightly to make it more distinct

Introducing Blaze, my nonbinary non power user gremlin who in my AU joins Barto's crew and becomes his first mate and navigator.

No spoilers here for canon events, but in my au they create a new crew and while Barto of course still is loyal to luffy and the strawhats, some originality suits him well.

First time I'm showing off my One Piece OC Luly van Kalayan. A maestro man with conducting powers. Not really the time and place to talk about him just yet, but I've been thinking about this guy a LOT. Former noble man turned pirate turned slave turned Revolutionary Army Agent is his TL;DR summary. Let's just say Doffy and Luly have *history* with each other (Dialogue written by my friend)
