Pine protection - Winter/yule theme
Supplies:
Pine needles
Sea salt
Black pepper
Any type of oil/preferably coconut oil
Moon water or regular water
A pinch of ashes(optional)
Quartz or any other crystal that you believe will help. Please check to see if your crystal works well with water!
Note: The water to oil ratio should be around 3:1 or 4:1, too much water will result in an obvious separation.
Steps:
Bring a small amount of water to a boil and then add pine needles. Allow this to sit for ten minutes or more.
In a separate container mix together your oil, sea salt, ashes, and pepper
Slowly add the mixture to your pine needles and water and stir.
Once everything is mixed together add your crystal.
Let this stand for a couple of minutes before removing the crystal and setting it aside.
Quickly pour your protection oil/balm into your chosen containers and allow it to cool.
Pray over your balm/oil and use it as you wish !
*Note: I used a cauldron of sorts so I sadly can’t tell you what level to set the fire at, and I also eyeballed all of the ingredients since I’ve done this before.

Soups and Broths in Magick
I am rather new to the witch community on tumblr but I have been interested in witchcraft for years. I have come upon a reoccurring thing, many of my friends I wish to magically aid through teas and herbal brews, do not like the taste of tea. I have found that mixing herbal blends or herbs representing what you wish to occur into soups and broths work just as well! In fact if you choose the right soup you can get sometimes better results I have found. Soup mimics tea by being easily drank and can be served warm and hot, which I find very comforting.
First it is important to choose a soup or broth that goes well taste wise with the herbs you wish to use. You want it to taste pleasant for yourself or the one you are providing it to. Though, try to find a soup or stock or broth that corresponds with what you wish to achieve with the herbs to further strengthen and increase the outcome you wish.
A short list of correspondences:
Chicken Broth/Stock: Uncrossing, new growth, fertility, sacrifice, New beginnings, rebirth
Turkey Broth/Stock: Close connections to Earth, generosity, inspiration, bounty, blessings
Beef Broth/Stock: New beginnings, femininity/female power, fertility, strength, balance
Pork Broth/Stock or Bacon: Intelligence, good luck, prosperity, curiousity, discovering new things
Fish Broth/Stock: Close connections to Water, health, improving oneself, the unconcious mind, awareness, fertility, good luck, wishes, change
Shellfish/Clam/Mussel Broth/Stock/Soup/Chowder: Protection, stopping lies/gossip/rumors, removal or treatment of stubbornness, honesty, truth, close connections to both Water and Earth, living a natural life
Shrimp Broth/Stock: love, abundance, fertility, trying new things, moving forward
Cheese base/Milk base soup/Chowder: Beauty, femininity, love, self-love, purification, rebirth
Tomato Soup: Protection, prosperity, love, uncrossing, femininity, romance and passion, negation of negativity and evil
Pumpkin Soup: Healing, prosperity, love, protection, granting wishes
Squash Soup: Psychic awareness, spiritual enlightenment
Corn Chowder: connections to the sun, luck, prosperity, abundance
Onion Soup: protection, keep evil away, healing, banishing, stability, exorcism, money, lust, and ends bad habits
Pea Soup: Kindness, connections with Air
Mushroom Soup: psychic enhancement, connections to Earth, longevity, strength, immortality
Curry/Curry Soups: banishing, healing, prosperity, protection from negativity
Soups with Noodles: Longevity, uncrossing
Soups with Rice: prosperity, blessing, money and wealth, security, good fortune to come
Soups with Barley: Love, Healing, Protection Hopefully this will be helpful for any witches who are not very big fans of the taste of teas or for anyone else for that matter. I would love to hear or see any other suggestions for tea replacements or other soups that could be used. This came straight out of my Grimoire and I hope to add more of it to this site soon. Blessed be everyone!

🌿Milly’s “The Flu Can F*ck Off” Brew🌿
I’ve come down with the flu and this is what I’m drinking to help keep the symptoms at bay:
🍋 Add a tablespoon of honey to hot water, stir to dissolve (soothes sore throats).
🍋 Add 1/3 of a lemon’s juice, stir to combine (high in vitamins, boosts immune systems).
🍋 Take a small sprig of thyme and let it steep in the mug (known for ability to fight colds and flus).
🍋 You can witchy it up like I did by thanking the ingredients, asking a deity for their blessing or imbuing the brew with healing, strengthening intentions.
I recommend drinking hot and inhaling the steam to clear your airways. Stay healthy this change of seasons, lovelies!
[always do your own research regarding health benefits and allergens- your safety is most important]

After many requests, I’ve made a rebloggable version of my ‘Weather Magic’ page. Here you will find heaps of resources to help you with weather/storm craft. If you’ve read some of my previous posts about weather magic you will notice some similarities - that is because this is a collection of every weather witching post that I’ve ever posted compiled into handy resources post.
Weather Magic
The term “weather magic” or “weather witching” has been used to mean anything from divination and forecasting of weather to actual control and manipulation of the weather itself. From calling up treacherous storms to destroy another’s crops or providing fair winds for those at sea, witches (and even those who do not consider themselves to be such) have always been involved with weather magic. When you consider that most forms of magic are based around an agricultural past, the ability to affect and predict the weather was considered an invaluable skill. After all, if your family’s livelihood depended on the success of your crops (or the ability to find water as it did in my family’s case), weather magic would be an extremely handy thing to know.
Why the url Storm Born Witch?
I am quite fortunate, as the gift for weather related magic comes easily to my family. For generations, the men in my family have been dowsers or water diviners. However, it wasn’t until after I displayed an aptitude to weather related magic that I was told about my family’s history with it. My grandfather was the last water diviner in the family and he died when I was very young so I was never taught how to divine for water. My grandmother was the one to teach me what little she knew about weather magic - the rest either occurred naturally or I picked up along the way.

Calling Up A Wind - Whistling Up A Wind
This is the most common form of weather magic and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Depending on the pitch and tone of the whistle a witch can create a gentle breeze or a sharp gust of wind. Traditionally, if the skill of whistling up a wind does not come naturally to you the option of making a ‘wind whistle’ out of willow or alder wood is available.
Here in Australia, whistling up a wind is probably the most common form of magic I do. I honestly do not go a day without whistling up a cool breeze. It’s bloody hot here and sometimes a cool breeze is just what you need.

Storm Casting
Storm casting is the art of creating storms. There are many different methods to creating storms and bringing rain. The method used by my family is to fill a jug with water and while sitting outside (or facing a window) pour the water into a basin or bowl. Dip the tip of your pointer finger into the water and slowly make five clockwise circles in the water (if you have a pendant necklace this can be used instead - just above the water in the bowl). As you are making the circles call the wind to bring in a storm by blowing (or whistling a continuous low note - the sound of wind over the mouth of a glass bottle) over the water in the basin.

Ways to Stop a Storm (Dispersing, Binding & Preventing)
There are multiple ways to stop a storm. The most common are dispersing or binding storms. However there are also ways to prevent storms from coming by directing them away from where you are. This is great if you’re holding an event outside and you need good weather.
Dispersing
This method involves spreading the storm out over a large area thereby minimising its effects. You can disperse a storm by calling winds to blow it away (or in a certain direction) or if you favour using weather maps you can draw the low pressure system moving away and gradually dissipating.
Binding (Storm Catching)
This method is also called ‘storm catching’ and involves catching a storm and binding it within an object (usually a bottle or knots) so it can be released gradually at a later date by pulling out the cork or undoing the braid/knots.
Resources for Binding Storms
How to bind a storm in your hair by stormbornwitch
How to bind the wind in rope by ioqayin
Storm catching or “reeling in a storm” is even more difficult than storm casting so it’s always wise to think before you cast. Too much energy put into a storm and it will go on for weeks (and cause some flooding - basement incident) or it will be extremely violent and knock down power lines and tree branches. Too little energy and all you will get is a 5 minute shower of rain.
Other ways to stop a storm (Cutting a Storm) by witchuptheroad
Preventing a Storm (Weather Maps)
However, if you wish to prevent a storm from forming, you’re going to have to pull out the weather maps. To make a weather map all you need to do is to print out a map of your local area or the area you’re trying to keep a storm away from.
Just use google maps and don’t make the area too big or you might seriously strain yourself magically. Then laminate the map - now you have your own ‘whiteboard’ to draw weather symbols on to generate certain types of localised weather.
To practice this kind of magic you really do need to know how weather systems work and how they’re likely to move; knowing a little bit about meteorology goes a long way.
Once you’re ready, find out what the weather is predicted to be and draw it on your map. Now draw the high/low pressure systems moving so that the area you’re trying to protect doesn’t get rain. This method can also be used to bring rain to a certain area.

Home Protection Steam Spell
There was some crime activity in my neighborhood, so I performed this to make me feel safe and protected. ❤️ (As a witchling, I am still new to spell writing, and am open to tips!)
Ingredients
⚔️ Cinnamon: I use three sticks and a tablespoon of ground cinnamon for extra scent. ⚔️ Rosemary: Three sprigs or two tablespoons of dried rosemary (pictured). ⚔️ Pine: Three sprigs from my backyard tree. ⚔️ Sigil: I drew @wolf-scent’s home protection sigil on a bay leaf and used the steam to activate. I dry and keep the leaf on my altar after. 🌿
Method
✨ Put water in a pot or pan and on the stove and turn heat on high.
✨Add ingredients one at a time, focusing on intent with each one.
✨Let mixture come to a boil and begin to steam. I add my leaf at this time.
✨Visualize the steam spreading throughout the house, bringing protection. Can be a bubble or anything else - personally, I visualized the army of the dead from the Lord of the Rings rushing out to stand guard. ;)
✨LOWER the heat (don’t want to waste energy) to simmer, and you can allow the scent to fill your house for however long you wish. Add water as needed to not let the ingredients touch bottom of pot.

Oven Roasted Chicken with veggies.
This is a very delicious meal that fits all into one cast iron. It takes some time but is completely worth it in the end.
What you need:
About 10-13 baby yellow potatoes, rinsed.
A handful or two of baby carrots
3-4 chicken breast, skinless boneless.
1 bottle of Italian dressing of your choice (I prefer olive garden’s)
A cast iron skillet
1/2 cup veggie oil
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1tbs dried oregano
1tbs chili powder
1tbs garlic powder
A large mixing bowl
Large ziplock bag
What to do:
The night before cooking put the chicken breast in the gallon bag and add the dressing. Seal it and let it marinate until dinner time the next day. Reserve about 1/2 cup of dressing for the next day.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees ferenheit. The day of dinner add the veggies and spices along with the oil into a large mixing bowl. Toss to coat fully.
Place the chicken in a greased cast iron skillet, organize the coated veggies around the chicken breast. Pour the reserved half of the dressing over top.
Bake for 1 hour, once the hour is up check the chicken for done-ness. Add another 15/20mins if not done.

Enjoy!

🌟 End of the Year Spell 🌟
This spell is for leaving things behind in the previous year or to leave something in the past.
SUPPLIES:
✯ A piece of paper. ⭐︎ A pen. ✯ A black or white candle (optional)
STEPS:
💫 First, write down everything that bothered you this past year. Whether it’s a nasty situation you’d like to be put to rest, a person, a bad relationship, a negative entity, pretty much anything you wish to leave behind and not look back to.
💫 Fold the piece of paper up, while you’re folding make sure you fold away from you since you are ridding of something. After you fold it up enough, put it under or in front of the candle when you light it.
💫 Hold the candle and pour your intentions into it. Light it, and speak to it if you feel you need to - tell it how you want to leave whatever it is that’s bothering you either in the previous year or in the past in general. Declare that it will no longer have any effect in your life, and you are now free from it.
💫 Once the candle burns down, take the paper and the next time you go somewhere to a public place away from home, throw it away there or bury it somewhere as far away as possible from your house.
If you choose not to use the candle, you can pour your intentions into the paper that you folded and just bury it somewhere away from your house like you would if you used the candle.

Black Sadie
In the distance you hear the sound of their laughter, Of tales told and of drink and of dance, It lures, entices and enchants you In to the heart of the gypsy’s night camp. Far away from the crowd are hung blankets a small fire burns bright on its own Shadows of a woman are seen clear in the night As she holds herself and she dances alone She steps toward the light of the fire, To reveal such a haunting, pained face How sad is this woman called Sadie Dancing alone in her black satin and lace In her tent she reads cards for the strangers As the candles burn dim on the shelf Black Sadie sees into their futures, She helps others but can’t save herself The pain buried so deeply inside her Makes her live in a world all her own Where she feeds it and nurtures it lovingly, She can heal it, but won’t leave it alone She falls to the ground crying into the night For the girl who once danced not alone, For what she once was, before pain touched her heart For the man, and the life she had known Her silenced soul screams at the tools of her trade Telling fortunes, for her, holds no place The crystals and tarot are just symbols of fate, Not the real, not the pain she must face She backs once again into the shadows Where no one can reach her dark place She hides in the folds of her dresses And tears soak her black satin and lace. by WinterMoon© 2005
