ANYWAY! I’m biased because I like Andy. I probably like Andy more because of my own personal headcannons and my overall love of Season 4, but what can you do? I like his arc, and wish there had been more! Teaching the Winx girls instruments and music was cool, but they could’ve gone further. How did he react to the girls being fairies? Did he ever get along with the Specialists? What embarrassing stories about young teen Bloom did he have? The world (ie: me) needs answers!

Baltor almost wishes Bloom would fight him. He has experience with that, at least.

He carries her to bed, trying to commit small details like her scent and breathing pattern to memory in case…in case. Bloom doesn’t stir, even when he places her on the bed. He wonders, distantly, where she’s been this whole time. As he pulls her shoes off, the thought of sleep flickers to mind. It does sound nice, curling up next to Bloom and shutting the world out. With any luck, they’ll both wake up to find the last twelve hours has been nothing more than a terrible dream.

Instead he reaches into her pants pocket, fishing around until he comes up with her cell phone. Bloom doesn’t even flinch.

Baltor sighs, cursing every deity he can think of, and leans down to press a kiss to her brow.

Then he says a transportation spell and vanishes.

New for Ao3: What We Do Chapter 40

We’re finally caught up! It only took 8 (!!) years! Anyway if you never have, enjoy this chapter where I don’t take something happy and break it into tiny pieces :)

Are there any differences between the Ao3 and ff.net uploads of your longfic? Because they've got different chapter counts and upload dates, so I'm a little confused. Sorry!

So I started What We Do on ff.net first, because I am a fandom elder and back in my day Ao3 wasn’t a thing. When it became the go-to place, I started moving certain works over there. It’s the same fic, but the Ao3 version has more grammatical fixes, certain scene changes because I totally fucked up on the tenses, things like that. The chapter count will be the same when I upload chapter 40 on Thursday the 12th, and then no matter what you’ll be reading new chapters every subsequent Thursday until the fic is complete.

To be honest I’m debating uploading the final chapters on ff.net because the site is overrun with bots and the mod team seems to have been whittled down to 4 people who are paid in Dave and Busters bucks. I’ll keep people posted, but to be safe I’d stick Ao3.

TL;DR - there’s no difference, but I’d say read on Ao3 for less errors. Thursday the 12th I’ll upload chapter 40 so FNN and Ao3 have the same chapters, and for sure on Ao3 I’ll be posting new chapters on Thursdays.
