How to Properly Clean your Wireless Headphone Ear Pads
With the weather getting colder, it means the cold season is here. The best way to keep ourselves healthy and safe from germs is to clean everything you use routinely. That includes cleaning your wireless headphone earpads, especially if you wear them daily. Having clean headphones also means your getting the best listening experience possible from your wireless headphones. Here we are going to walk you through how to properly clean your wireless headphone earpads and why it is essential to keep them clean.
Why It’s Important
The importance of keeping your wireless headphone earpads is pretty simple. Cleaning your ear pads will save you money in the long run. Take proper care of your headphone pads will keep them in good shape for longer, which means you won’t have to replace them as often as usual. Cleaning your ear pads will also make your headphones more comfortable to wear. Cleaning them will help keep your headphones in good condition, meaning no breakage or scratching.
Having a properly clean pair of ear pads also means they will be more hygienic. Regardless of why type of wireless headphones you’re using, cleaning them is vital for hygiene. This will clean off the sweat, dirt, and bacteria that have built up over time. Cleaning them will also help prevent them from getting moldy overtime.
How to Clean Wireless Headphones
Now we are going to breakdown how to clean your wireless headphones properly. This will be broken down into two parts, one for over the ear headphones and one for earbuds. We will start with over-ear wireless headphones.
After wearing your headphones, you want to wipe them down after use. Use a dry cloth, like a microfiber cloth, to gently wipe your headphones down. This will help prevent any sweat or dirt from building up after wearing them. Once a week, clean your wireless headphones by using a soft washcloth with warm soapy water. Gentle damp your headphones, don’t soak them and clean the pads. After wipe down your headphones and make sure they are dry. The key to cleaning your headphones is to wipe them clean gently, don’t press down hard or scrub. Occasionally you can condition your headphones depending on the padding. If your wireless headphones have a leather padding, then you need to purchase a special leather conditioner. It might be pricey, but you only need to condition them twice a year.
How to Clean Wireless Earbuds
Cleaning earbuds are vital since they go directly into your ear, and you want to make sure they stay clean. Besides extending the life of your earbud wireless headphones, you are also preventing ear infections in your ears. The first thing you want to do with your wireless earbuds is making sure you store them in a case. Doing this will minimize the exposure to bacteria and dirt and help extend the overall life of your headphones.
Make sure to wash your earbud headphones daily. Once again, these go into your ears, and it only takes about 2 minutes to clean them properly. Use a soft, damp cloth with warm soapy water and wipe down your earbuds. Make sure you’re not submerging them in water or putting them under running water because the water can damage them beyond repair. After wiping them clean, use a dry cloth to ensure they are dry.
If you want to be extra cautious, you should always wipe down your headphones before placing them in your ears. Even in a proper storage area, the headphones can still get dirty, and you are transferring that to your ear. Instead, wipe them down with a clean towel before heading out the door each morning.
For a deeper clean, you can do a peroxide cleanse. You want to make sure you use the right type of cleaner for your headphones because some stuff, like hand sanitizer, can leave residue behind. To deep clean use a damp cloth with hydrogen peroxide. Make sure to heavily dilute the peroxide with water before using them on your headphones. Gentle wipe your earbuds down and then dry them with a clean towel. You can do this deep clean every week or every daily if you prefer.
Taking proper care of your wireless headphones is important. You want to make sure that your headphones last as long as possible, mainly since you invest a right amount of money into them. As long as your properly store them, clean them, and take care of them, your headphones should last you a while.

The Jabra Elite Active 65t has a noise-isolating feature that makes them passively seal out any ambient noise. The headphones also have a safety feature called HearThrough transparency that you can customize in the Jabra Sound+ app. The technology allows you to pick how much sound you want to be leaked into your headphones while wearing them. The app also has features that will enable you to change the sound profile for music, so if you want a different treble and bass, you can make it to your liking.
The smart technology that comes with the headphones is also cool. You can choose to have your music pause when you take your earbud out and then automatically restart when you place them back in. The left earbud offers a button to allow you to change your tracks or adjust the volume. The headphones also come with a voice assistant. Through the app, you can activate Siri or Alexa and speak to them through your headphones. You can also use the voice assist with Google Assistant as well.
When it comes to making phone calls with the Jabra Elite Active 65t, they pick up your voice well. They have a sidetone feature that you can control, which will allow you to hear your voice during calls, but you can quickly turn it off. The sound with the headphones is excellent as well. They are made to work well in loud places, and even with the default mode in place, the sound still had a boost and sounded rich.
The headphones come with a 5-hour battery life, which is expected with more wireless earbuds. They come with a charging case and with a quick 15-minute charge you also get an additional 1.5 hours of juice out of your headphones. The charging case comes with a rubbery finish, similar to the earbuds, which will protect it from the elements.
Samsung Galaxy Buds
Similar to Jabra, Samsung wanted to spring on the Apple Airpod bandwagon and introduced their version of a truly wireless headphone with the Samsung Galaxy Buds. The earbuds retail for $130, so slightly less expensive than the Jabra Elite Active 65t. The headphones do pair with other devices that aren’t Samsung if that is a concern. There are some features though, like the Automatic Sync and Ambient Aware Mode, that only work with an Android device that runs on Android 5.0 or higher.
The headphones feature an Ambient Aware mode that allows sound to sneak into the earbuds, which offers you a better awareness of your surrounds. The headphones do feature a noise-isolating feature, but it doesn’t work as well as the ones that come with Jabra, and that could be due to the fit of these headphones. The Samsung Galaxy Buds come with an IPX6 water-resistant, meaning they are splash and sweat-resistant but cannot submerge in water. If you’re a heavy sweater and use the gym a lot, these headphones will stand up to even your most prolonged routine.
They come with three different sized silicone ear tips and a small fin that helps keep the earbuds securely in your ear. The different size of tips should help give you a tight seal that will also help minimize the background noise around you. The headphones come with tap control. You can tape the headphones to pause or play a track, skip a track, and adjust the volume. You can also program the headphones to a setting that works better your you. The headphones also come with an auto-pause feature, but it only works if you pull both headphones out, not a single bud.
If you’re looking for exceptional sound with your headphones, these might not be the ones for you. The headphones don’t offer a ton of bass, but there is some presence boost in the treble that makes the sound bright. AKG is responsible for the sound with these headphones, but the Jabra Elite Active 65t does have a better sound option. The call quality for the headphones is good, but  some background sound does leak through to the call.
The headphones offer a battery life of 6 hours, which is excellent for a wireless earbud. They also come with a charging case that is a little bit on the smaller side, so some may love it while others can potentially lose it easier. The headphones can also be charged with a USB-C cord or on any Qi-enabled wireless charging pad. They can even be charged on one of the backs of the new Samsung Galaxy S10 model phones since they offer a new feature called PowerShare.
Final Thoughts
Here are our final thoughts on the two earbuds. The Jabra Elite headphones offer a better sound, call, and fit quality then the Samsung Galaxy buds. With that said, the Jabra headphones also come at a more significant price tag, where the Galaxy buds are a little more affordable. Both headphones offer essential features like sweat-resistance, noise-isolating technology, and good battery life. If sound quality is your most significant thing when it comes to a wireless headphone, the Jabra takes the ball on that one. Something about the AKG technology lacks with the Galaxy buds, and you won’t get as rich of a sound with them. The Galaxy buds are great for charging options, especially since you can use another cellphone for a quick charge. It is a let down though that some features only work if you have an Android device.
Both headphones offer a good, tight fit, that is comfortable for long periods. When it comes to choosing between the two, Jabra is an excellent headphone with a lot of great features, but they also come with a hefty price tag. The Samsung Galaxy buds are decent and have everything you need at a reasonable price, but you are sacrificing some luxury quality for them.
Which headphone is your favorite, the Jabra Elite Active 65t or the Samsung Galaxy Buds?

8. Anker SoundBuds Slim+
The Anker SoundBuds Slim+ is another tremendous affordable waterproof headphone. The headphones come with IPX5 waterproof protection which is great for cleaning but don’t dip them underwater. They are made with good quality, and the features that go along with the headphones are amazing as well. The battery lasts a solid 7 hours with music and can last even longer if you’re using them for phone calls with the in-line mic. They are stocked with aptX Bluetooth codec which offers terrific sound quality. The sound is well balanced, and great for all music genres.
Between these eight fabulous headphones, you should be able to find a waterproof one that works the best for you. Remember, the higher the IPX, the more water-protection you’re going to get from your headphones. Not all headphones can withstand submerging underwater and survive, so check with the manufacturer before taking a swim with any of these headphones on.

With a variety of different wireless headphones out on the market, it could be hard to figure out which is the best for you. Some wireless headphones are easy to use and connect to your television, while others can be a little more difficult if a transmitter isn’t included. Depending on your type of television and needs, you will need a specific wireless and Bluetooth headphone for your television needs.
We’ve taken some of the pressure off you and found eight of the best wireless headphones for television. Take a look at some of our favorites and decide for yourself which one might work the best for you.

These are a snug-fitting pair of headphones though, so you may need a break while wearing them.
They are super easy to set up as well and come with two components: the headphones and a base station transmitter. The base station is great because it also is used as a charging station, and it is lightweight so it can easily be tucked away when the guest is over. There are a digital optical connection and a 3.5mm analog minijack input that will help you connect your headphones to your television or any audio component that has corresponding outputs with the included cables.

How to Pair Your Wireless Headphones to Your Television
We get it, technology can be complicated sometimes, especially when instructions aren’t clear or we don’t have the luxury of using Bluetooth. Whether you’re using the headphones to keep your house quiet at night or you’re trying to block out background sound while watching your favorite show, connecting your wireless headphones to your television shouldn’t be a tricky thing. Regardless of what TV you have or the brand of headphones, there are numerous ways you can go about connecting your headphones to your television.
Take a look at how you can connect your headphones to your television.
Dedicated Wireless Headphones
Like most people, wireless televisions without built-in Bluetooth is a thing. With that being said, there is a way to work around that so you can simply connect your headphones to your television. The easiest and most straight forward way to connect your headphones is to purchase dedicated wireless headphones. These types of headphones usually come with a base station that plugs into your television with a 3.5mm analog jack or optical and works over radio frequency instead of Bluetooth.
Doing this comes with one significant advance; range. With Bluetooth headphones, you are usually limited to 30 feet for the range. RF headphones typically have a way better range than the Bluetooth headphones, generally around 300 feet when unobstructed.
These headphones may seem like a paradise, but there is a catch. With these types of headphones, you cannot have another audio device connected to your television through the jack, like a soundbar. If you have a soundbar connected you will need to remove it before using your headphones. If your soundbar is connected through optical or digital outputs, you can leave the wireless headphones connected without interfering with normal audio playback.
Depending on what you like, you can find a dedicated wireless headphone almost anywhere, and they range between $20 to $300.
Media Streamers
Some apps like Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV boxes allow you to connect headphones and listen to your show in private. This is a hassle-free and straightforward way to help connect your headphones to your television.
Android TV:
When it comes to Bluetooth with this, it can be a hit or miss. Sometimes the Bluetooth is supported, but it does require a keyboard and mouse. If you get lucky others can support Bluetooth and easily pair to your headphones. To see if this is an option, put your headphones into pairing mode, to go Settings, Bluetooth, and select the headphones when they appear.
The Nvidia Shield Controller also comes with a headphone jack built-in, you can always use wired headphones with the controller if you don’t have Bluetooth available on your wireless headphones.
Apple TV:
If your headphones are Bluetooth, then you can easily connect them to your Apple TV. Put the headphones into pairing mode and go to Settings, Remotes and Devices, Bluetooth. Wait until you see the headphones pop up and select them. From there, you should be paired and connected.
Roku:
When it comes to connecting your wireless headphones to your Roku, it really depends on your model Roku and Roku remote. You have a few options as well; you can private listen through the Roku app or plug wired headphones into the jack on the remote.
If private listening is the way you want to go, make sure to download the Roku app to your device and make sure your phone is connected to the same wireless network as your Roku. Open the app and connect either wired or Bluetooth headphones to your phone, and that will enable private listening. In order to disable private listening, all you need to do is disconnect your headphones.
Gaming Console:
Gaming consoles can also be used to help pair your wireless headphones to your television. The downside to doing this is the spotty Bluetooth connection you get, which makes it easier to use a wired connection.
PlayStation 4
With the PlayStation 4, it only supports a specific Bluetooth headset. To work around this you can get a USB Bluetooth adapter that circumvents the restriction, but it doesn’t work with all Bluetooth headphones and headsets.
To get around this, your best option is to use a wired headphone and plug them into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the controller. To make sure you have the proper audio device, go to Settings, Devices, Audio Devices, Output to headphones.
Xbox One
Shockingly, the Xbox One does not support Bluetooth. Like the PS4, you can plug your headphones into the 3.5mm jack on the controller, but you won’t have an actual wireless experience.
The newer models of the Xbox One controller have the 3.5mm jack built-in, but the older wireless controllers do not. You will need to purchase the Stereo Headset Adapter, which plugs into the bottom of the controller and gives it a 3.5mm jack, plus volume and microphone controls.
Bluetooth
While Bluetooth headphones have their advantages when it comes to pairing to a television, they also come with a hefty price tag. If your TV does not support Bluetooth headphones, you will need to purchase a Bluetooth transmitter for them. Transmitters can be found online or at local electronics retailers for around $15.
A Bluetooth transmitter will take the 3.5mm or RCA output from your television and transmit it as a Bluetooth signal. You will also need a power source for this to work, like a USB, which you can use to tap from the USB port on the television or plug into a power strip. You will need to pair the transmitter to your headphones and make sure the setup is complete before you begin to watch your shows.
A pair of Bluetooth headphones also have similar issues like the dedicated wireless headphones. If you’re not using another 3.5mm output device, like a soundbar, you might have to disconnect the Bluetooth transmitter from the 3.5mm or RCA jacks to restore the volume to the television’s internal speakers.
It might seem like a lot of work, but as long as you have the correct equipment and a little patience, setting your headphones up to your television is a lot simpler then it might seem. If you need further help setting up your wireless headphones, you might want to check the manufactures website for your headphones or television to see if they have some pointers to help with as well.
