tillhumanvxices:
“We all get jealous, it’s just natural.” She couldn’t blame the girl for having questioned the situation in the first place. Many of her students found it strange enough just seeing her outside the classroom. She could only imagine what it was like for Clio to all of a sudden be around her all day, every day; especially when the students had been told Blaire wouldn’t return to school anytime school.

“It’s just not ideal for me to be alone right now, and your father offered to help.” She gave the easiest explanation she possibly could. Keeping Clio in the shadows was the easiest solution at this moment; even if the scar that served as a constant reminder of that night made it clear that there was a very good reason for Blaire’s public absence.
“You are friends, I get that.” Clio nodded, accepting the explanation. She understood but couldn’t help it to look at the scar while paying close attention to the barely audible voice.

Averting the eyes, the girl gave her an apologizing look for the starring before her features brightened. “I’m glad you’re not gone. We miss you at school.”

“Lunch is the only class I can do well in.”
“There’s pizza today.”
“Is that a bug in your sandwich?”
“Ugh, this is expired.”
“Is this seat taken?”

“Fuck the police.”
“They put me in here just for being late…”
“Did you actually bash the principal’s car?”
“A little thing like you managed to beat the crap out of someone?”
“You look like you don’t belong in here.”
“This is prison.”
“I tried to stab a kid with a pencil.”
“They think I’ll learn my lesson in here? I’m going to do it again.”
“All I did was a little graffiti.”

Blaire’s gaze shot up at the door, and she quickly offered a smile once she saw the young girl. She hardly found it in herself to smile these days, but it was worth putting on a brave face for the kids.

“I understand, Clio. We really should have told you sooner.” Blaire motioned for the girl to step inside. Her voice was just coming back, and was barely audible as she spoke.
“Maybe.” Clio smiled back when she stepped inside and bit down on her lip. She knew she’d had been acting unfair not just earlier but the entire past couple of weeks when she’d accused the woman to force herself into the relationship between her and her father.

“I’m sorry for being jealous.” The girl apologized, admitting the reason for her behavior. If she was honest with herself, Clio even liked not being the only woman in the house much longer.

A bit later that day Clio knocked on Blaire’s door and waited for her (former) teacher’s approval to step in.
“I’m sorry for overreacting, I... I didn’t expect you to be here.”

Everybody lies
“What’s she doing here?” The girl asked more confused than still jealous about the fact that her teacher suddenly seemed to be living with them.

At school they’d only been told that Miss Watson would not return that soon for unknown reasons a couple of weeks ago and now Clio found out that they’d been lied to as she by accidentally walking in on the woman in the morning.

“Of course you can.” She motioned for the girl to enter the empty classroom. It was strange, having Clio as one of her students. Not because of her, per se; she was a joy. It was more considering who her father was, how close they had been while growing up. In a way, it was a constant reminder of just how much time had passed.
“Are you settling in okay?”

“It’s going well so far.” The teenage girl returned, forcing herself to smile despite the circumstances of her todays condition and handed the teacher a note from her father.
“I’m having a doctor’s appointment before lunch to get my regular check up. Dad’s written me an apology for the afternoon class ”

“Miss Watson... May I have a word with you please?” Clio shifted uncomfortably, carefully tugging a strand of hair back behind her ear with sore fingers.
“In private.”

“Well…I said it out loud. That makes it real. If it’s real it’s scary. I’m just so overwhelmed.” He leaned his head onto her shoulder thankful for the bit of stability she provided
“But doesn’t it also make you proud?” She softly rubbed her friend’s back. “It makes me feel proud that you told me.” Clio bit on her lip, as she smiled. “We could go shopping together, if that makes you feel better.”

“Is there anything that helps against the pain?”
She asked her, tilting her head the slightest bit. She was clearly worried about her.
“Not really. I’ve taken my weekly cortisone shot this morning plus one painkiller because of the weather.” She stated silent but honestly, slightly massaging her swollen knuckles. “Dad wanted me to call in sick, but I didn’t want to miss even more class this month.”
“You look like you’re in pain, what’s going on?”

Clio looked up at her new teacher, when Snow approached the girl’s desk. Was it this obvious that she wasn’t having a good day with her arthritis and that the pain in her hands was making her feel sick? Why she wasn’t writing notes during class. “Nothing… it’s just the bad weather getting a hold of my joints.”

“My Mother is a Teacher here so she can teach me at home if I don’t want to go to school. ” She said smiling and looked at her “Your Father is August right?” She added and looked at the clock.
“Yup, that’s him.” Clio nodded, noticing Sofia’s resemblance with the unnamed teacher. “Your mother’s Snow White, right?”
