a dagger

the blade is small, but wickedly sharp: it fits in pockets, under clothing, kept up close to your skin. it provides excellent defense when you find yourself in need. it lets you protect yourself against a world that you know to be dangerous. it becomes like a part of you, before long. you find it in your hand without a memory of drawing it. you find the people around you bloody, cut, before you realize that the dagger has moved. protecting you. defending you. you leave it behind and you find it on your hip again. you tell someone that you trust them, tell yourself that you want to trust them, and still, red rifts open across their skin when they get too close. you don’t know how long you have before everything you touch is cut to shreds.

Rita looked with utmost confusion (fascination?) as she watched Cheng Xiaoshi placed a small keychain in her hands. after moment she picked it up to take a better look on the item. a miniature camera definitely matched him...

initial surprise soon melted into a bright smile as she pressed it against her chest. a quick wipe of face with a sleeve to hide any upcoming tears that started pooling. not that she minded to be seen like that. there was nothing forcing her to be that closed in, not anymore. but still, better to not make him worry over few tears.

a humming continued for a while. she didn't understand the art galleries, never really had time to just sit there. so maybe that's why it felt like everyone just disappeared one time she decided to see what this was about. she leaned closer to the smiling painting. it felt almost alive for something so simple

quick turn to the source of the warning. a definitely eye catching guy for sure. how did she not notice him before? did he work here? well considering the warning, he surely had to-

well, nothing like a hangout gone wrong. at least she managed to get no blood on her outfit, but either way staying there was a risk she couldn't take. only take what's important, which in this case was Lu Guang. she reappeared just as quickly as she disappeared, no word as she pulled him away with her strength.

at first it seems that what he said was completely ignored, but she noted & was already planning an explanation once they were a safe distance away. considering he already knew about "the Witch", she didn't feel like she had to hide the darker bits, but they were out in public, so she still had to pass it off as nothing suspicious.

a clearly stressed smile as she finally stopped dragging Lu Guang behind her & turned around on her heel.

❝ someone tried to take me out, guy was of a delinquent type, really good face, but he hated going to the cinema, so it was no luck. i think it's best that we stray from this area for now, so we don't run into his friends, because he for sure didn't come alone. ❞ of course the biggest emphasis was on the comment about the looks, but he surely picked up on implications that mattered the most for him.

for supposedly spending more time & being a little bit more desensitized to the good face, every now & then she's proved wrong.

Kalego was a prime example of that. she knew him for a while now, so she should probably be able to not be as swayed by him. sometime it does appear to be the case, but more often than not she still can't hide it. was there a way to subtly admire someone's stern face, well done hair & practically whole person? oh, most likely there was, but even if, she did not know this method for the worse.

& she would most likely remain like that for even longer, if she wasn't called out on the behaviour, where Rita quickly straightened up, hands slightly raised in an apologetic gesture.

a visible surprise as the voice spoke up, Rita quick to stop in her tracks & turn back to him. green eyes looked up to meet golden ones & soon even without any words bright blush appeared on her face.

& it would be so embarrassing to admit out loud he fit right on the list of guys she wanted to date or that she had scolded herself for such thinking.

more than that she didn't expect him to catch on she said anything at all. well the stare & headshake right after were pretty noticeable as she tried to quickly calm down. what she said was nothing more than a mutter under her breath.

& despite the clear instructions, eyes wandered off again. eye contact with a handsome stranger was already too much for her heart...
