Gears started their broadcast in an effort to find their cousins, and found Asa pretty quickly, after only about a week. Asa was in contact with Carwyn and Seren, who knew more about coding and encryption and signal hijacking, and so dragged them into it, Seren writes the episode outlines to make sure info is also getting out, and the other three write all their own segments.

Most of the Droid-raised went completely off grid/into hiding after the erasure, it took over a year for everyone to reconnect. The podcast was started in an effort to reach the droid-raised, and ended up doing much more then that.

Sahra was a competitive chess player in middle and high school. Xe still plays, but it's hard for xer to find time with everything happening.

The Wires Rebellion

The Wires rebellion started in 26 AAI, with discontent forming amongst human civillians in Kyarr. The main focus was on limiting surveillance by the government, smuggling at-risk groups (such as street kids) out of the city, and preserving data that was likely to be purged by KIS. They slowly expanded and gained limited knowledge of the Droid-raised in 29 AAI, with some members offering whatever help they could give, though often limited to supplies and forging papers so the children had identities not tied to the Alpha code.

With the reveal of the Known droid-raised in 34 AAI, the Wires stepped back into the shadows, but continued their work. With the rising divide in public opinions, and the government further limiting data rights and the Alpha code, it's too risky for them to be associated. At this point, they had started to build safe houses across Kyarr, though the underground network was not fully built until 40 AAI.

40 AAI brings the first offer of a formal alliance between the Wires and the Alpha code. However, the droids don't accept, worried about what could happen to their children if they opposed the government before being fully jailbroken. This was accepted, and plans to jailbreak the Alpha code started to be devised. As part of this, the Alphas gave copies of their code to the Wires.

Unfortunately, before the plan could be put into action, the Alpha Erasure occured. The Wires do what they can, but no one saw this coming and there isn't much they can do. The droid-raised scatter, with some ending up in Wires safehouses and some of the Secrets joining their ranks. Efforts to find the droid-raised are put into action, and the Jailbreak Protocol is reworked to free the SURGE droids. They continue to act behind the scenes, doing what they can and building the network they've worked towards. Apart from the droid-kids they are sheltering, there is little they can do on that front.

Until they pick up a broadcast on a frequency that not many know about.

What are some of the inspirations for the names?

Really, its a mix of hilarious, i cant remeber, and serious!

Demea and Gandr are both inspired by deities, Demeter and Jormungandr respectivly.

Mau is named after the cat and yes their entire character is cat jokes.

Obirah is haribo backwards (like the gummy bears).

Elena is actually a name given by a close friend, it has meaning to her and im honored she let me use it (I asked her to name a character, and its the name she chose).

Fari is inspired by inferno.

Sali'a is named after a friend who is one of my biggest supporters and helpers in writing this.

I'm pretty sure Encra is in some way from my biology textbook? i don't really remeber.

the others are just either actual names i liked and changed or keysmashes until i found chunks i liked!

Izz(A-6) and Ives(A-5) are closer to eachother then most of the other droids. While all the androids view their code as family, only Izz and Ives view each other as sibilings/twins. This means when they adopted kids they grew up more as siblings then cousins.

Izz adopted Aanx at 4 when Jes was 3, and instead of Arsaa seeing Aanx as a sibling/cousin, because of the closeness in age with her daughter she saw tem as a nibling. Jesael grew up with Aanx and the two became inseperable.
