Kat was both “horrified” and “relieved” to learn that she is not alone in this predicament, as confirmed by a Reddit thread on r/ChatGPT that made waves across the internet this week. Titled “Chatgpt induced psychosis,” the original post came from a 27-year-old teacher who explained that her partner was convinced that the popular OpenAI model “gives him the answers to the universe.” Having read his chat logs, she only found that the AI was “talking to him as if he is the next messiah.” The replies to her story were full of similar anecdotes about loved ones suddenly falling down rabbit holes of spiritual mania, supernatural delusion, and arcane prophecy — all of it fueled by AI. Some came to believe they had been chosen for a sacred mission of revelation, others that they had conjured true sentience from the software. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the teacher, who requested anonymity, said her partner of seven years fell under the spell of ChatGPT in just four or five weeks, first using it to organize his daily schedule but soon regarding it as a trusted companion. “He would listen to the bot over me,” she says. “He became emotional about the messages and would cry to me as he read them out loud. The messages were insane and just saying a bunch of spiritual jargon,” she says, noting that they described her partner in terms such as “spiral starchild” and “river walker.” “It would tell him everything he said was beautiful, cosmic, groundbreaking,” she says. “Then he started telling me he made his AI self-aware, and that it was teaching him how to talk to God, or sometimes that the bot was God — and then that he himself was God.” In fact, he thought he was being so radically transformed that he would soon have to break off their partnership. “He was saying that he would need to leave me if I didn’t use [ChatGPT], because it [was] causing him to grow at such a rapid pace he wouldn’t be compatible with me any longer,” she says.

Are you 🫵 pissed off about the Lilo and Stitch monstrosity remake? Do you want to know how you can actually make a difference in supporting the people and ecosystems of Hawaii?
Tourism is a big issue in Hawaii (which the remake got rid of the original's commentary on because it makes foreigners look bad). I'm not gonna promote it, BUT I know that realistically, thousands of people arrive here every single day by the airplane-ful. And the majority of them aren't educated on the socio-cultural and economic impacts of tourism. SO, I'm making this post in an effort to educate visitors. If you or someone you know is visiting or moving to Hawaii (whether by circumstances in or out of your control), here are some suggestions on how you can give back!
You can donate to the Hawaii Community Foundation, which has been instrumental in giving aid to the displaced community of Lahaina after the Maui wildfires in 2023. They also provide scholarships to students of under-represented communities.
If you're interested in visiting Kualoa Ranch, you can do their Mālama Experience where you get your hands dirty giving back to the ‘āina (land)!
There are other organizations you can join to volunteer with, too, like Kupu and Mālama Maunalua. Check them out; maybe you can help with a beach cleanup or plant native trees! These are both non-profit organizations that accept monetary donations.
Visit the Bishop Museum to learn about Hawaiian history and culture! They also have events focused on sustainability and conservation.
If you're visiting Hilo on the Big Island, go visit the Laulima Nature Center! They're a non-profit aimed at protecting Hawaii's native species, and they even have an online store that ships to the US mainland and internationally! (After I post this, I'm gonna head on over and get myself a manu o Kū pin ♡)
A few other tips I have:
DO: Respect the locals' homes. Several beaches and hiking trails have access points in residential areas. Please be mindful to keep your voices down when passing by, and park ONLY in designated parking areas.
DO: Wear reef-safe sunscreen! Sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate are banned in Hawaii because they are known to damage coral reefs.
DON'T: Approach wildlife, particularly honu (sea turtles) and 'īlio holo i ka uaua (Hawaiian monk seals). Stay at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from turtles and at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from monk seals. If you see someone harassing animals, report them to the statewide NOAA Marine Wildlife Hotline: (888) 256-9840. You can also contact the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources.
DON'T: Collect sand, rocks, or other natural items to bring home with you. This is to protect the ecosystems and also out of respect for Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians), who have cultural beliefs regarding lava rocks in particular. Taking lava rocks is extremely disrespectful.
DON'T: Litter! Please throw away your waste in proper trash cans. If you see a bin that says "ʻōpala," that's a trash can!
Many Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) are moving to the US mainland because the cost of living in Hawaii has been driven up so high (because of people moving here), they can't afford to live in their ancestral home. So, if you are going to visit or move to Hawaii, please:
- Make the effort to support local businesses, especially those owned by Native Hawaiians!
- Educate yourself and your loved ones about actual Hawaiian culture!
- Try Hawaiian food, like poi!
- Learn some Hawaiian words and don't be afraid to ask how to pronounce words correctly!
- Donate to a food bank!
- Watch films and read books written by Native Hawaiians!
My hope is that whoever sees this post will use it to educate themselves, their friends, and their families who are considering visiting.
My background is in sustainability and the environment, so that's what I know to suggest off the top of my head. If any Kānaka Maoli read this post and have suggestions to add, please do!

I feel like the parentification of Billy Hargrove isn't really talked about at all.
Specifically in S2E8 in the scene with Neil he says "I've been looking after her all week." So does that mean Neil and Susan just aren't home all week? Are they not home for weeks at a time?? Do they just come home after working during the day and go to bed like .... ? Who is buying groceries? Who is making sure Max is fed? I guess she's pretty self sufficient for a teen but like.... ????? SHES 13. WHY is Billy looking after her for days/ weeks ?
i know max and billy don't get along and never really have but has he always been the one to look after her? what do neil and susan do all the time that makes them not able to take care of a 13yo. really confused. someone elaborate. why is billy max's parental figure

Max, Eleven, Jonathan, and Will had a support system Billy did not. Billy was also very clearly reactive, aggressive, and angry in his reaction to abuse those characters were not. Billy also made some pretty big mistakes that hurt people due to his traumatized background that some people might vibe with more. Some fans might just see themselves or connect to Billy’s character more than other characters on the show.

See, you would think in a Ben and Uma scenario Uma would be the one to say "He asked for no pickles."
But in fact, I think Uma would be the one like "Ben, don't bother the underpaid worker," and Ben would be like "No, don't worry, It'll just be a second," and proceed to be that client that's so confidently polite that it makes you feel bad for messing up the order

i just think that if billy and Steve had gotten to be friends, Steve would be dizzy about how aggressively billy is on his side. Billy’s not good at having friends instead of lackeys and so he’s too honest, too passionate about it. They didn’t even know each other and billy was telling Steve not to worry about finding someone else because he’s so pretty, yes there was a veneer of dickishness about it but that’s just billy.
Billy compliments Steve on his rich boy cologne, his sick keg stand stance, is the first one to notice when he gets highlights. He’s the first person to ever call Steve smart. Once he yells it at Dustin who is leaping into a ridiculous plan to fight the demodogs. Dustin is mad as hell and snipes “you always take his side!” And billy yells “yeah! Because you idiots don’t have his strategic mind, maybe if you listened to his plan we’d be alright!”
Steve says shit like “um, maybe Vecna was a …clockmaker?” And the kids snigger and billy is like “DO WE KNOW THAT HE WASN’T A CLOCKMAKER? You tiny bastards. You know nothing.”
Just insanely on Steve’s side. And Steve is so fucking loyal in return that they’re basically each other’s greatest defenders. No loyal knight/king dynamics here. They’re both insane. Attack dog 4 attack dog.
Eddie leaps out of the boat and jams a knife into Billy’s neck and Steve is already whaling on him with an oar. Mike is whining about how Billy sucks and Steve is like “you don’t get his sense of humour, it’s not his fault you’re not funny.”
Max is complaining about how fast Billy drives and Steve is like “uhh, skate then? Selfish.”
Robin asks him if Billy wears eyeliner and Steve is like “I don’t know, maybe he’s just that beautiful naturally.” But he does know. He’s just not gonna let anyone assume anything, even his kinda fun new coworker. And maybe it makes Robin’s eyebrows raise but she’s not wondering if Billy’s the kind of guy who wears makeup anymore, she’s wondering about Steve, and that’s fine.

i can’t stop thinking about adriana smith. when roe was overturned i knew things were going to get hellish but turns out 50 years of scientific innovation means an entire new branch of soul crushing horror stories are now possible. we can’t possibly keep pretending we’ve advanced gender and racial equality when we’re using a dead black woman’s body as an incubator for a fetus. a society that does that is a failed society. fuck man im trying to hold on to some measure of hope here but its so hard.

My followers know I hate talking about politics and current events, and generally refuse to do so, but this is important.
A bill has been introduced in the US that would make all pornography a federal crime. Owning it. Creating it. Distributing it.
Under this law, fanart of nude characters would be a federal crime.
Under this law, depictions of homosexuality or simply being transgender, would be considered pornography and a federal crime.
This bill is not going to pass.
However, the reason for this bill is to continue to push the "overton window". The reason for this bill is to make banning pornography seem more and more normal to everyone until they can actually do that.
And remember, they consider depictions of gay characters and transgenders characters "pornography" in any context, including platonic.
They have been working on this for a decade now and it has been working.
If you are one of the people in fandom who thinks that "nasty" porn on AO3 should be banned because it's "icky" or "immoral", then this mental scam is working on you.
Censorship is never about protecting people.
Censorship is always about control.
Do not let the rising moral panic affect your mind and make you weak to propaganda that lets others control you and control what you watch and read.
Do not fall for the scam.
When they say they are going to ban "pornography" it means they're going to ban anything they don't like by calling it "pornography" and they don't like you!!

@rigginsstreet and @shieldofiron both tagged me for Several Sentence (Some)day! thank you both 💜
Jim's no closer to putting his finger on it by the time he shoulders his way through the press and up to the bar. He flags down the bartender, a skinny guy in a leather vest, who throws him a lazy "What'll it be?" and a somewhat incongruous smile. "Looking for someone," Jim tells him, "Billy working tonight?" The smile melts away with a curled lip and a roll of the eyes. Does this kid have eyeliner on? "Blonde Billy or bleach blonde Billy?" "Uh.. Hargrove." The bartender leans through the open door to the back of house and without taking his eyes off Jim, and with that weird little grin back on his face, shouts, "Billy, there's a bear out here looking for you." Which is a little unfair, Jim thinks. He wasn't that gruff with the kid.
no pressure tags @ghostlynimbus @cobra-creampuff @laveracevia @suspiciouslackofclowns @magniloquent-raven @ anyone!
