Hugo Peers Route Review
SPOILER ALERT, OF COURSE
Oh boy, I was really disappointed by this route. But let's talk about it little by little.
First of all, since my long hiatus, I didn't remember what was Hugo's role. I thought that Liz was afraid of him, so when he made his first appearance I thought that it meant trouble and I was like "oh, so we are going to have action so early?", but it was really casual which confused me a lot.
I think that it was really wholesome to see how Hugo's love for people around him gradually increased.

Another boy that needs to be protected
But there were many scenes that made me think that it would lead into something more relevant, but actually were scenes with not much importance. Like the chimera, Liz fainting, Hugo's health and lack of magic, etc. Actually the whole plot and story left me with that sensation of "it could have been taken advantage of this".
I knew that Hugo was from the future, so I thought that the story was going to talk about time travelling or the butterfly effect (idk like doing something to save Geodelune that ended up erasing Hugo's existence and Liz being the only one who remembers him and tries to bring him back to existence?).
And about the power of love... Wtf is it? I was surprised to learn that his power was not only from the love that Liz gave him, but also Hugo needed to love her to actually make this power work, but I still don't get wtf is it. During this route, I felt that there were a lot of unexplained things happening with the excuse of Hugo being from the future. Like he also has time powers. Why?

And it's kind of cringy
Besides of the time travelling thing, I thought that the love and relationship conflict was going to be more about Liz trying to evade Hugo's love because she thinks it was a fake love to attain power. And this conflict appeared from a brief moment and Liz was hesitant, but suddenly, without any explanation, their love was true and mutual. Wtf.
The ending was so sudden and quick. In the final battle, where usually the characters tend to confess passionately their love for eachother, Liz kept standing there doing absolutely nothing, resulting in Hugo being harmed. Then she desperately turn back time????? And that made the same mistake of standing there doing nothing????? Wtf? I mean, he didn't die. Why she's wasting her powers like that instead of standing up for Hugo or just cast a normal healing spell? Oh right, because he's from the future and normal magic can't be used on him, again 🤌. If the time powers can be used so easily, and Hugo also has those powers, why he doesn't use them more frequently?
It's a shame because one of the things that I really liked about this route was how Liz was usually the one that started the love-dinamic, like telling to Hugo that she's the one who's gonna protecting (which I found it really wholesome) or making the first move;

This was literally my reaction
But yeah, in conclusion: I expected more :c
Other favourite things in this route include:
All the village thingy and the night class trio

The short monologue where Hugo is conflicted by his feeling saying that maybe it was better to never met Liz because of the love and pain he was experiencing, but at the same time he didn't wish that. It kind of reminded me of Fruit Basket lmao

I absolutely love how Zeus erupts stupid offensive rude comments in a really innocent tone, because it reveals how dumb and pure he actually is.
