Say Hello To Les Loups
Les Loups are three young producers from Hannover (Germany) who are celebrating the French Touch, Nu Disco and House. They’ve released an album, played shows in european metropoles and increased their production skills since their beginning in 2010. Furthermore they are founder and residents of the two event-series ‘Paradisco’ and ‘Reloved’ and have invited acts like Moon Boots, Knight One or Kartell.
Last year was a great one for Phil, Felix & Toni. They released the two excellent tracks ‘Colourblind’ and ’Out Of Sight’, remixed Glen Check and Knight One and remastered their debut album ‘Club Cœur’. It seems like the three guys are real workaholics and that’s the reason why I am even more proud to host an exclusive mixtape of them. You have the chance to explore the style of Les Loups during the next hour and be prepared to shake your booty with the best of slow disco, some real classics of house music and the freshest track from the underground scene.
Let’s say hello to LES LOUPS!
1. Why have you chosen your DJ Name?
Well, we definitely wanted to have a french name, as french touch / french house was the music we were doing in the beginning. As an alliteration Les Loups sounded cool to us, too. Finally the fact that Loups (Wolves) almost always appear in a pack seemed to suit us quite well, as we’re three guys and we’re strongest when we’re together (at least we believe so…)
2. What kind of music do you listen to when you’re at home?
We really listen to a lot of different music styles… What you can always find on our iPods and Vinyl collections is Hip Hop – some Dilla, Madlib or Pete Rock. Also Jazz, Funk & Disco of course. Chic, most of the stuff Quincy Jones was responsible for, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Ahmad Jamal… we could name a lot more! And obviously House and Nu Disco from all eras. We’re also fans of alternative music such as The Strokes and Radiohead, but we don’t listen to this kind of music these days anymore..
3. What was the funniest moment at one of your gigs?
Our own event series ‚Paradisco‘ here in Hannover is always great fun and we definitely got some goodies about producers like L’Étranger, Kartell or Cézaire who played here with us… but maybe it’d be a little unfair to them mentioning it here, right?
So regarding ourselves, our second gig ever was pretty much legendary. It was 4 years ago and we played at the New Year’s Eve party in Hamburg’s city hall. We really didn’t know what to expect, but we definitely didn’t expect so many pensioners trying to get wasted and party. Obviously, they were not so much into French House, what a shame, so when we looped the bells from Daft Punk’s Aerodynamic for exactly 10 seconds before midnight (maybe not so exact..), nobody really understood what was happening, so they where totally disappointed afterwards and complained at us, that we missed out the countdown. After that, an old lady came to the DJ Booth to tell us in a really warm tone „I will take care, that no one of you plays any gig in Hamburg EVER AGAIN!!!“ Long story short, in the end we (the DJs) got kicked out by the bouncers because we were maybe doing a little bit too much party. And yeah, we played several more gigs in Hamburg after that and actually live there for quite some time now.
4. Which gig do you remember most and why?
Hmm.. we remember lots of good and bad gigs. But a really special one was our very first Live Set we played this year at ‚Bei Chéz Rainer Festival‘. It was basically a small, private festival organized by friends of us but the location was amazing and the vibes were great! Lots of friends and people we know where there to see us play, so we didn’t even get too tense and nervous. Everything went really nicely and we had the impression that the people where feeling it, which meant a lot to us. In the end it was an important step for us, as we want to try and work on the Live Set to bring it to the next level.
5. Whats next for you?
Our last single ‚Colourblind‘ really changed a lot for us. We got many requests from smaller and bigger labels, but we haven’t finally decided about our next step yet. We got some really interesting collabs in the works at the moment. Right now we’re working on our next single with the amazing soulsinger Marie Dahlstrøm from Denmark and some new remixes. Also for 2015 we’ll of course continue with our ‚Paradisco‘ and try to bring some great, uprising producers to Hanover! Already got some names in mind… aaaand: our second event series called ‚Reloved‘, where we play more original disco/soul stuff, will get a revival.
We’re super motivated and very ambitious for 2015 – lots of things to look forward to!

Mac - You Want Me (Tommy Vercetti Remix)
Tommy Vercetti is one of this guys that you have to put on you watchlist! The boy from West Midlands has this combination of lovely vibes and deep beats. He had great success with his Good Feelings EP and I love his remix of Movin’ and Groovin’, but today I will show his newest release on the Australian label Yes Yes Records. The remix Mac’s ‘You Want Me’ shows one more time his instinct for a earworm.

Blonde - I Loved You (Braxton Remix)
Blonde’s new single ‘I Loved You’ is another proof of their quality to make earworms! The chorus, the bridge and the beat goes immediately in to your head and fits there for a long time. Braxton shows his version of the track and remix it to a smooth and chilly sound.

Bondax 'Something Good' feat Speelburg
Bondax, my big love! Every tune of the two Lancaster boys is a blast and they’re rocking the R’n’B-infused house sound for the last two years. Their latest work is a collaboration with Speelburg and is part of their Bondax & Friends compilation with a lot of unreleased materials of them and big tunes of their friends. Lean back, take it easy and enjoy ‘Something Good’.
