I think one of the reasons drag kings aren’t as popular as drag queens, aside from the fact that straight women don’t like us, is that people are uncomfortable acknowledging masculinity as a performance. Like we as a society know that femininity is a performance, with its own costumes and rules. Masculinity is also a performance, and nothing makes that more clear than someone making an exaggeration of it

I know a lot of the folks who follow me here are white. I know that statistically, white people are more likely to listen to other white people as voices of authority when it comes to race — especially if they do not know where to begin when it comes to anti-racist practices.
So, I'm gonna be brutally honest with you other white folks — You have to care about Black men. You have to care about Brown men. You have to care about Native and Indigenous men. You have to care about Asian men and that means all Asian men, not just East Asian men.
If you are white it is imperative to EVERY kind of anti-racist belief and action that you vocally care about men who are not white.
Lift up, support, and platform the voices of non-white women who are discussing misogyny in their communities, BUT — this is also imperative to remember — those conversations are not for you to add your voice to. Especially if you don't engage with non-white people, communities, or culture in literally any other context. It's straight up just not your space and that's okay. Sit with that. Please.

Being the only bi cis guy amongst almost exclusively trans friends and peers is wild because in theory its like im living in a horny manga where all of a dudes friends turn into hot babes, but in reality they are hunting me like the last bison on the prairie. 5 years ago I mentioned bionicle and one of them asked when I was starting estrogen.

you really can reach a point with transgender enlightenment wherein you can attribute any bodily feature silhouette and detail to any gender regardless of typical cisgender aesthetic connotations. anything can be a man's body if the person in it is a man. anything can be a woman's body if the person in it is a woman. anything can be a genderless body if the person in it is genderless. and so on. the only thing that matters is the personhood within and whether you are willing to look and know and see it. open your eyes. keep trying until you no longer flinch or turn away in shame or anger or confusion.

it’s really silly that people are claiming my url (woman-respecter) is a “terf dogwhistle” because it is actually based on a stupid 2017 meme phrase (i changed my url to this in 2017 and have not changed since)

which like yes haha it’s funny that someone didn’t recognize the meme and were so idiotic or paranoid that they saw it as a dogwhistle, but if i may be serious for a moment, i think it is another piece of evidence that there is a growing wave of anti-feminism in our culture. back in 2017 “respect women” was innocuous enough to be integrated into a meme by normies, largely including men. now, saying it on tumblr, which used to be the feminism website, is seen as suspect. is this not concering to you?
like i am not a terf, but i really think that people should think long and hard about why the most milquetoast basic feminist sentiments always have the worst possible intentions ascribed to them, and how that may harm women and feminism overall.

“i don’t even live in nyc but im happy” you should be!!!!!!!!!! outside of all the local ramifications this is a win that can serve as an example to guard against defeatist loser democrat establishments in other cities and states who count on you believing that we can never Go Further Left because that is the realm of thought experiments and not electoral power… look around you! hope is one of our most powerful weapons and this is a sign that change is not only something to feel wistful about as the unknown future but a real tangible possibility when you let young people organize and mobilize and put forth a clear message. it’s coalition building!!! this is good for EVERYONE!!!! he was endorsed and supported by the dsa for fuck’s sake. also this is not diminished by whatever happens in the general and whatever his tenure ends up looking like. tbh. we can continue to run campaigns like this and win like this.

watching a movie at home circa like, 2001 was like
put your TV on channel 2 so the VCR will work
open up the clamp shell case that held the VHS that has that satisfying crrlikkkkkk
put in the movie
gdi it has to be rewound
press STOP and then rewind because its so much faster that way
start the movie and it takes a few seconds for the movie to actually start cause you rewound to the VERY beginning
FBI will get you if you illegally distribute or exhibit this movie
and then. because you forgot that movies are always so much louder than TV
COMING SOON TO OWN ON VIDEO AND DVD
QUICK LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME OH FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay crisis averted.

just saw a furry go "ugh pup masks are the worst thing to happen to the furry community" and it's like what are you talking about those are your cousins, at the end of the day you're both pretending to be gay dog men, i think it's just an aesthetic choice at that point

Zohran Mamdani has almost certainly won New York City's mayoral primary. Next week's Ranked Vote tabulation will make the results clear, but Lander's and Adrienne's votes will overwhelmingly go to Mamdani, who will face Sliwa and incumbent Eric Adams in the general election. It's unclear if Cuomo will also mount an independent run.

tire pressure light came on while i was driving home last night, which is bullshit bc i topped them off pretty recently (came on a week ago bc of the cold) and they're still perfectly taut.
turns out when the light comes on and blinks a bunch before settling it indicates a problem with the sensor. learned this from google and had a shounen anime-style flashback ("when did--no, it can't be--!") to when i went over a particularly unpleasant manhole cover fifteen minutes earlier and Felt It.
then had another flashback, but distinctly more faded out and echoe-y, like from a multi-season mystery series where they remind you of some seemingly trivial detail from the first episode, of That One Relevant Tumblr Post, You Know The One
anyway the next morning i deliberately hit a small patch of uneven road on the way to work and voilà. no more light.

I understand feeling like we’re doomed and everything is hopeless, but I feel it’s even more reason to be kind and do good.
At your lowest point, the kindness of a stranger can mean so much. The efforts of another person, reaching out as a human being to connect as they witness your strife.
It won’t fix everything, but amidst these dark times, a flicker of kindness shines so brightly. And I think, it lights a kindness in others, and inspires them to do the same.
So volunteer at a food shelf. Invite someone to a meal. Donate books to a school, or involve yourself in supporting local immigrant communities. Make friends with people in the street, start a craft circle to make much-needed winter gear for a church drive, plant a patch of native flowers in the abandoned lot next door!
There is so much you can do to be with others. I don’t believe we’re doomed, and I stand by that, but whether you believe that or not, what do you have to lose by putting good into the world?
