"She doesn't want to undo his sacrifice," Eliot says, devoid of any emotion but his grief. "Quentin's life isn't worth risking the wins this time." "Bitch got what she wanted," Margo replies with a sneer. It fades quickly, though, as they put more distance between them and Jane's territory. "She's also not wrong, Eliot." Eliot knows that. He's grieving, but he's not delusional. Starting another timeline spits in the face of everything they've had to suffer through, everything they've sacrificed, everything Quentin gave of himself; to save his friends and stop Martin Chatwin, save Fillory twice, then turn around and save magic, too. Those are the things that Eliot doesn't want to take away from Quentin.  It's the Monster that Eliot wants to erase. It's Everett's thirst for infinite power. And, most importantly, it's the part where Quentin killed himself to make sure Eliot would stay alive while Everett and the Monster lost.  Quentin should be here, with them, saving Fillory one more time and Josh and Fen with it.  Quentin should be with him, like Eliot had told himself to be brave enough to win back.  If Jane's not going to save Quentin this time, then Eliot's going to do it himself.

When Penny hears that Quentin is going to die, he doesn't laugh or giggle like the aforementioned nerd did. He gets two thoughts that nearly knock him on his ass at his Dead Pod People desk.

The first, fate will let Quentin die like the hero he's always wanted to be.

The second, what the fuck, fuck this shit.

Since when does he wander around contentedly following the rules without asking questions? He sold his soul to be down in the Underworld Library in exchange for his friends getting to live and save the goddamn universe. Penny literally saw the way that the books were going to end because of Ember and he told Eliot to change that shit.

Quentin Coldwater is a whiny little bitch who lets his insecurities and depression cloud his judgment. But Penny gives a fuck about him doing something stupid as hell because he's possibly suicidal and doesn't get that he's the goddamn reason their 'found family' ever works.

And fuck the library, fuck Hades, fuck that chick who looks like Alice, and fuck Quentin for sucking at keeping his shit together when he's supposed to be the one steering the ship.

absolutely obsessed with this. quentin's put upon expression. the fact that he is the perfect height for being held to eliot's chest. the weird one armed hug because he's both miserable for outside reasons and possibly a little jealous? how he has to go up on his grumpy lil tippy toes for a kiss. eliot's absolute ease with embracing his friend/long term crush both romantically and like he is soothing a toddler for nap time. exquisite 10/10
